I was in need of a water heater, so I contacted Robert for his expert opinion and advice. Robert asked me some basic questions over the phone, then asked if I could take a few images for him to better grasp what needed to done. After providing a few images, Robert called me back with an estimate for the job, as well as an ETA. Him and his crew were actually at another job site, but arrived exactly on time. Robert and his team made short work of the water heater replacement, as well as cleaned up everything before they left. He also provided suggested maintenance of the water heater to prolong the life of the unit. When addressing his staff members, Robert would always say "please and thank you" to each of them. That appreciation to his staff members really made them feel appreciated, even like family. I was actually considering replacing the water heater myself, then I factored in having to pick up a water, then figuring out all the pipe work, and lifting the water heater into place,... it was cheaper and a back saving value to have Robert and his crew handle it. This review is on KR Plumbing in Gardena. Robert is the owner. KR Plumbing did a full re-piping of my condominium, copper in the garage and then pex pipe underneath and into the walls and upstairs. Initially having the job done, I told Robert that I want ball valve angle stops, he told me they were not good and to use the regular angle stops, which I did not. This job was completed about six years ago, I have been trying to contact Robert multiple times via phone text and email to get all nine angle stops replaced. I would pay for service and parts! But unfortunately, Robert never responded to any of my messages. I started to think why wouldn't he call me back and just do a simple job. Then I looked at the pex brand name that he installed on my condo. It is UPONOR which has a class action lawsuit regarding quality of pex pipe, failing and cracking in the short amount of time after install. Multiple YouTube videos about product failing. My question is why would a plumber use a product that was discontinued or failing and did not notify the customer??! Unacceptable for a business to do something like this. Hence why KR Plumbing has not responded to any of my messages. I ended up getting bids that all came in over $1000 for nine angle stops to be replaced. I ended up buying a Dewalt pex expansion tool and the nine angle stops with 1/2" brass barb inline so you can replace angle stops when needs. I did the work myself. With purchase of tool, angle stops and 1/2" brass barbs it came in a little under $500, and took me about four hours to do. Photos included. I love to use local businesses, but when I did my homework on the Uponor Pex product that he installed in my condo, I would not use KR Plumbing (Robert) for anything anymore in the South Bay Area! I hope someone finds this helpful. Because there are very few good plumbers out there these days. MelBorn... Update~ 11/7. I see Robert has responded to my post. I know the warranty is up Robert, the discrepancy is with the product you installed in my condominium. And if it fails, you're gonna hear from my lawyer. There are lot's of great reviews of Robert and his company, KR Plumbing. These are all well deserved. We found a leak in a ceiling under our kitchen on a Sunday. Robert made time to be here first thing Monday morning, opened up the necessary ceiling and walls, and diagnosed the problem. We had to enlist the help of an emergency restoration company, for which Robert provided guidance and helpful suggestions. Within a few hours we had those other issues resolved, and Robert and his crew was able to come back to our house the same day, fix the problem, and get the water service safely turned back in time so that my family was not without water for the night. Had Robert not responded so quickly, the outcome would have been much worse and the water damage we're dealing with would have been even more extensive. And to cap it all off, his fee was very fair. We've been charged very high fees by other plumbers, but no KR. As others have said, fast response, excellent service, and very reasonable pricing. A couple of mornings ago, on the 4th of July, I discovered my kitchen sink had a serious leak. This was not a surprise to me - I have an old house, built in 1948, with a lot of the original plumbing still intact. Not really expecting to be able to reach anyone on the holiday, I sent a message anyway to K and R via Yelp, and impressively received a reply from the owner, Robert, in under 30 minutes. After giving me a very reasonable estimate range, we set up an appointment with a 4-hour window for the following day (yesterday). Within that window, I received a 20-minute ETA call from Megan, a very pleasant staffer at the K and R office. Robert arrived shortly thereafter and set to work. He immediately spotted my plumbing problem and gave me the news. The outdated and corroded strainers, waste parts, and tail pieces would have to be replaced. I feared this was going to be expensive, since this sounded like no simple fix, but the charge fell within the quite reasonable range that Robert had originally quoted me. Soon after commencing the repairs, Robert informed me that the job was going to take longer than expected because apparently, through the years, previous leaks had been repaired by applying layer after layer of caulking, making it difficult to detach and remove the corroded pieces. Also some amateur modifications had been made with a connecting galvanized steel pipe, which was routed out of the under-sink cabinet at way too elevated a height . This made the removal and installation of new plumbing no easy feat, yet Robert uncomplainingly persisted until getting the situation rectified and my problem solved. I am very pleased with the results and will not hesitate to call Robert for future plumbing needs. Robert has solved plumbing repairs at my property in Torrance for many years now, everything from fixing a leaky hose bib and tub spout, replacing an entire shower valve, and recently venting the water heater through the roof. Hired K&R to install a new Noritz tankless water heater. It was installed beautifully, but then a few days after I noticed the unit was making a loud humming noise. It took many back and forth calls to K&R--- that's something they could improve on, this is just honest feedback --- Here's the good part... turns out it was a manufacturers defect, Robert got Noritz to ship out a new motor, quick installation and now the unit is running perfect. ***Here's an example of a business sticking to their service commitment. They could have easily dodged this and just sent me to Noritz, but they DIDNT and although I was a pain in the ass calling all the time, they eventually took care of something that wasn't their fault to begin with*** Great honest family owned business, I'm a customer for life now read more

I used Robert several times for some plumbing needs at my new (old) house. The first couple of times were small jobs where I had Robert replace a leaking hose spigot, repair a couple poorly installed toilet water hose cover thingys (I can't remember the name), and address leaky sprinkler valves. Robert's prices are fair and reasonable. Also he and his team have very good work ethics: When they come into your house, they put on shoe covers; when they are done with the job, they clean up properly; and Robert, especially, likes things "straight". In other words, he takes pride in his work and likes that pipe's are installed clean and straight and, and not do sloppy work. I admire that he spends extra effort to pass on his skills and work ethics to his young helpers. Several months later, I had a pin hole leak under the house. Being new to this home ownership thing, I panicked and called the first 5-star plumber that popped up on Yelp. Their name begins with an "S" and ends with an "L". They charged me $700 dollars to replace a straight section of copper pipe and 45 minutes of work! I take responsibility for authorizing the work. They recommended that I do a re-pipe since the copper is reaching end-of-life. Feeling kind of ripped-off for a single pin-hole leak, I remembered Robert and had him come and assess the situation. Robert confirmed the exorbitant price, as well. Now, I know that, in general, people will bash their competition. But, I checked with a friend and on the inter-web about pin-hole leaks. They are quite easy to fix if you have the tools and the know-how. It should have been a $200-300 job. $700 for 1 hour of work plus the pipe is more than what some high-paying lawyers get! But it is my fault for authorizing that work. So... I have Robert at my house and he also confirms that the copper pipes are at end-of-life, too. He charged me $4500 to replace all of the exposed pipes under the house with PEX and also replace the section of copper pipe coming in from the main through the garage with 1" copper. In addition, he fixed a leaking section of sprinkler pipe, fixed a water heater gas pipe/valve that was not meeting code, straighten a leaning water heater exhaust (sloppily installed by the flipper), AND after the contract was signed, I had a kitchen sink clog that he snaked FOR FREE. Look, I know I ended up spending $4500 more, but at the end of the day it is still less than the $5K that those other guys quoted AND I got way more work done on top of a brand new pipes under the house. Don't hesitate to call Robert for your plumbing needs. One word of caution, your first impression is that he may be this grumpy guy. He's got a bad back that giving him some pain. Also in this business, sometimes he has to deal with a-hole customers. Because Robert is so passionate about his work, he lets those people bother him too much. Just remember, Robert is just like you and me. Be nice and polite, and Robert will take care of your plumbing issues. read more

Robert has continued to provide exemplary service beyond anything anyone could possibly ask. 1)Goes above and beyond to fix issues at a very reasonable cost, with the absolute best work and materials used. He does not use subpar materials to improve his margins. 2)He really stands behind his work. He always follows up to make sure everything is as it should be. 3)I have since moved out of LA, but still call him for advice. He really is an honest and standup guy. I cannot emphasize this enough. As promised, Robert followed up with me on my new plumbing issue (swimming pool return line). He came by on a Saturday with all the parts needed for the repair. He was very careful removing and assembling the new section of the pipe and fittings. No leaks on the first attempt pressurizing the filtration system. Looks better than new! Robert also fixed the flow issue (slow fill once flushed) with my main bathroom toilet. He cleared the line, replaced and adjusted the valve. The toilet water tank fills up fast now. Two days ago we noticed a large puddle in our patio under the bbq. Water appeared to be seeping up from where the house meets the patio. This area happened to be right under our upstairs master toilet. Another plumber I called was going to charge $275 for "leak detection" which would NOT be applied towards any repair costs. Then I K and R Rooter and Robert had me FaceTime to show him the area. He came out a couple of hours later, diagnosed the problem and replaced a section of leaky pipe for only $190! Later that night, the upstairs toilet started leaking. Robert came back the next morning, replaced all the inner parts of the toilet, and refused to accept any payment, saying that debris often gets in when doing a repair like he did. This was my first time using K and R. The company cancelled on me last minute (630 pm) on the day we had scheduled after I took of work to meet them from a timeframe of 3 pm - 7 pm. I scheduled this time 5 days in advance. They said the plumber's van broke. They offered to reschedule a different day with a 4 hour window without offering a specific time or discount. If you value your time, dont use this company. If you value getting the issue resolved, don't use this company they were not reliable or offer any sort of concession for the inconvenience. read more

UPDATE 9/28/18- To respond to Roberts comment: It's great to, finally, get some type of response. While the first portion of your comment is correct (providing parts free of charge was basically where the service ended), the second half of it is total fabrication. We never received any communication about rescheduling the initial appointment after you received parts, maybe you thought about advising but we never received a call or voicemail regarding that. Secondly, the date you say you came and knocked on our door, August 31st... we have a Ring doorbell that captures all movement at our front door. So not only can we rely on our Ring doorbell to advise us that you never came by our house on August 31st, I also know clearly because I specifically had taken that day off work to spend time with my family as I had been traveling for work. We left our home to do something in the morning, arrived home just before noon and when you didnt show up, at around 445 pm we left to go do an errand (remember appt time was noon - 4). We came home close to 6 pm and neither while we were out or after we arrived home did anyone come to our house. My husband and I communicate mostly by text message during the day and it is extremely easy for me to go back through all of our messages, which is why i was able to provide all of the dates and information below. You never heard about us advising we wanted our money back because you never responded to our communication attempts. Shouldnt a company who ordered parts for someone specifically make an effort to reach out? We called the number given to us on your business card and our K&R Receipt, (424) 329 3178 and left multiple voicemails over the last 2+ months. You have both my husbands information and mine, as well now as my Yelp account. You are free to contact either of us to get this matter resolved as I am moving forward with my complaint to the CSLB. ___________ Robert came out on August 6th to repair our hot water shower handle that we were not able to easily turn off and was leaking. He replaced the handle and was on site for 15 minutes, and charged us $125. When we used the shower that night, we were still having issues with turning the water off. It took two weeks and multiple phone calls / voicemails for them to return our call to have him come back out. Finally on August 16th, we were able to schedule an appointment. He came to look at it again on August 20th but needed to get a part and was going to come back the next day. He did not return the next day or call to set up a time to come back. We finally spoke with them on August 28th, and scheduled an appointment time for Friday August 31st from 12-4 pm. He never showed up and never called. We still have not heard from him after multiple calls and voicemails. DO NOT pay these guys with a check as there is no way to get your money back if this happens to you. I have filed a complaint with the licensing board to try and get our money back. Its unfortunate that they treated us so poorly as they are a neighbor, and who doesn't want to support your neighborhood businesses? We also have a hot water heater that needs to be serviced annually but based on how they have handled this EASY repair, they have completely lost our business. read more

Great service, gave a service call before coming over. I experienced a pinhole leak (my second one in 5-6 months) called them 7/2 nearing the holiday. He was willing to come out but just to save some money I had him show up next day. Robert was very knowledgable and honest. Honesty is something you rarely see sad to say but his son in law Brent was also honest in what had to be done. They even reinforced some other hazardous issues since they were there and I'm glad I chose K & R. I'm a first time home owner and quickly learning how cutthroat some of these people can be. I was in need of a plumber to come in and install a pressure regulator and a water line in the kitchen for my refrigerator. I contacted K&R via Yelp and Robert gave me a very reasonable quote. I scheduled a date and time and had Robert and his technician show up for the job. Robert was friendly and personable - he explained that he runs the business with his wife and do the best they can. During the job, it was apparent he has a solid work ethic; he ran in to an unsuspecting issue but he finished what he started and did a great job even though it took more time than we anticipated. He could have easily taken shortcuts to circumvent and expedite but he powered through like a champ. If you get the opportunity to chat with Robert, he's your typical family man who works hard in a profession he's knowledgable about while doing his best. What more can you ask for?
