We found the place on Regency Road, amongst various shop fronts on the busy road. It wasn't the biggest of space upon entering, however, it was bright, filled with natural light and real plants. The shabby chic look worked well against the cool white walls. The fittings and furniture has clearly been recycled and / or upcycled from various op shops. It was well put together. The place was packed! And loud! We sat on the square communal table with strangers as that was the only option. Nothing wrong with that. The place wouldn't hold more than 30 patrons comfortably. Once we have decided, we placed our orders at the counter. We were advised that they were sold out of the rosticcceria items, rather disappointing as that was what I wanted. This was one of their baked-in-house items. My friend ordered the smashed avocado with riccotta on focaccia and i had the cheese pizza, with pancetta and rocket ordered as extras. Her meal came out in a timely manner, but mine did not come out till she has finished. When it did come out, my raw pancetta did not look appetising, so I requested for it to be cooked. When it returned, it looked slightly better and because I was famished, I slowly ate it with little excitement. The pizza was so dry, it was a bit of a challenge trying to enjoy it. To their credit, they did tell me that there is no sauce on the pizza. The cheese was actually baked inside the bread. Perhaps I didn't pick right, but it was the driest pizza I have ever had. My friend wasn't impressed with her smashed avocado either. She found it bland and rather boring. So, she modified it by adding salt and chilli flakes to make it more interesting. Perhaps we both lucked out with our selections, but the wait was a massive factor, especially when our meals was delivered separately. Pricepoint - very reasonable. Most expensive item was $18.00 Will I return? Maybe in 3 months time after they have settled in more and worked out their teething issues.

Royston Park Cafe, you had me at boozy brunch! Oh yes, this café offers a very impressive brunch…read moremenu accompanied with a range of alcoholic bevvys so either start your weekend right or fight that hangover. This is definitely one of those "word of mouth" cafés that the locals hoard to themselves. Well, not anymore! I am making a record for others to enjoy Royston Park residents! Sorry! In the backstreets of Royston Park, just near Marden Shopping Centre you will find this café. There is a lot of seating, inside and out. Best part is that doggies are welcome. The menu here is large and customisable. I was instructed to order the Tagliolini with blue swimmer crab and salsa rosa. But, with the addition of a poached egg ontop (Thank you Jordan G.). To which I answered, hells yeah pasta for brunch! Gimmie! The pasta itself was really well made. Fresh, homemade and cooked well. What I liked about the rosa sauce and crab as that it complimented the pasta. Just as it is served traditionally. So, as if it was not the centre stage of the dish, it brings it all together. The sauce was creamy, the crab was flaked and evenly portioned through the pasta. What a great flavour! Blue Crab is something that is truly worth celebrating in Australia. It works so well in a dish like this. Well done chef! I did need to add a bit more seasoning, but that could just be my salt inclined palate. Finally, I can see why Jordan likes that poached egg ontop, it just gives an extra depth and richness to the dish. As for the café, you want to get in early. They don't take bookings. This place seems to get packed out, even though it is hidden away from the main streets. But, do know that if you have to wait for a table, it's worth it!

Tucked away in the 'burbs, this delightful cafe could be easily missed - but for a Thursday morning…read moreit was full of people enjoying their mid morning coffee and breakfast. The owners seem genuinely nice and happy to have you there. Great service! Coffees were delivered fast and hot hot hot! Very smooth coffee, although I did add a sugar to sweeten. I ordered the eggs-your-way on toast (my way = scrambled) with mushrooms and spinach, for a very nice price of $12.90. I did need some bacon though, which was an extra $4 (which I find a bit steep) but the portion size was very generous. My partner in crime got the big breakfast with.....2 fried eggs, sourdough toast, homemade baked beans, tomato, spinach, mushrooms, bacon and sausage! What a mouthful (literally!) ! I found the food delicious. Maybe slightly oily (the spinach) but overall I was really satisfied and full to the brim. There is indoor and outdoor seating, and as it was such a lovely sunny day, we sat outside. Only downside for me would be its on the corner of a road, so cars go past a bit, and there is a big Telstra public phone box right in front of outdoor seating area. Which they can't help, but it would be nice to enjoy the leafy street without that in your eyesight. It's a fairly quiet & peaceful street though, with lots of puppy dogs and their owners strolling past. Overall - a lovely place for breakfast! Thank you!

Where do I begin. Honestly, I'm not sure. There's so much negative to say about this place, about…read morethe only positive I can say is that the floors and tables were clean. From the chatterbox coffee maker who made the world's slowest coffees to the bland, day-old pies, the not-quite-cold Coke from the fridge to the disturbingly black-edged capsicum in the vegie bar for salad rolls, there's a lot wrong with this place. Let's just say that although the pies are promised to be fresh and delicious, they're the exact opposite and you'll find that this is an experience that will repeat upon you an hour or so later and have you searching for the nearest necessary. In short: UGH.

This bakery tries do be a lot of things, and more or less succeeds, in this reviewer's opinion…read more Price's bakery began, I believe, at Kadina in SA's Cornish-influenced Copper Triangle, so they should know a thing or two about pasties, Cornish and otherwise. I claim to know a thing or two about pasties as well, so I was looking forward to testing this outlet's product against my various pasty yardsticks. But enough of dry theory - on to the baked goods themselves. My dining companion and I selected from the large range in the glass fronted pie warmer a plain pasty (no sauce) and a sausage roll (one squirt). I also bought another staple, a double cut ham and cheese roll. These viands were washed down with the gold standard in pasty accompaniment: Farmers Union Iced Coffee. The verdicts: The pasty wasn't bad. The pastry was fresh and reasonably flaky, and the plump filling included the essentials of potato, marrow and meat, together with seasonings and possibly some onion. The taste was nicely balanced, if not up there with the very best. A good quaffing pasty for a sports event, for example. The filling of the sausage roll was excellent. A porky taste was evident, with overtones of beef, or even veal. Interestingly, shredded carrot was in evidence as well, perhaps for structural reasons or possibly taste. However, the envelope of pastry was a disappointment. The key to sausage roll baking is to keep the fat from the meat from invading the pastry and making it soggy, especially at the bottom of the casing. Most of the jacket of this otherwise excellent sausage roll was wrapped around the nest filling like a wet overcoat. Not quite one for the dog, because of the excellent filling, but definitely more work needed in the crust. The double cut roll was a good, average effort. Prices' bread rolls are a good size, but of a fairly light mix. My roll was whole grain, and while light in texture, was tasty enough, with soft chewy grains throughout. The filling was nothing special - processed Virginia ham (several slices in each cut, good; not much taste, not so good) with similarly bland cheese, and not much of it. All in all, a pass, with a bonus for the tasty bread mix. The Iced Coffee, was of course, excellent though it could have been colder. This bakery took over an old KFC store, and has added a sort of enclosed outdoor dining area, where we sat. It also sells bread, cakes and coffee. There's a lot of room, and you get the impression the place is trying to be a cafe as well as a bakery. To make it in the cafe stakes, you need quality ingredients. Processed cheese and ham won't cut it. We didn't try the coffee, but smelt no rich coffee aroma, either. I'm sure the bakery does well enough. It sells good quality products on a main road, and has a drive in service. It's been there for years and it was well patronised on the weekday lunchtime we were there. However, to make the next step up the ladder, the business should look to the quality of its ingredients. The prices are not particularly cheap, the whole experience is somewhat unremarkable and the competition is offering better food for around the same cost.

Omg best drive through on main north road for coffee and brunch…read more Definitely as good as it gets. Such friendly staff and great customer service but the secret is the coffee. Good quality coffee and the sizing of the cups are bigger. Fast and efficient and I keep coming back to this place as least 3 to 4 times in a week. The staff are so lovely here and the awesome funky atmosphere they provide is a worthwhile to stop and grab a coffee. They are open from 5am to 5pm and mostly have drive through customers, however there is a window to serve walk through customers that drop in without a car and can grab their take away items and can either sit at the bench listening to tunes. There is a small selection of items on the menu, but it's the quality of the food that is provided here. So far I have had the *smoked salmon bagel for $7 - This was different, smoked salmon with cheese bagel. Fresh Bagel. Very tasty. Thumbs up! *pumpkin feta spinach and pinenut quiche $5.50 - This was unexpectedly very tasty. The outside was firm yet soft and fresh as it crumbled nicely when bitten. The pumpkin, feta, spinach and pine nut worked well together. I was going to save this for lunch but it looked too good and I ate it with my morning coffee. *Nutella donut $3.00 - like... WHAT!!!! nutella donut. I'm in heaven. Nutella oozing out of the donut when bitten. Soft and delicious texture. YUMMY! *Banana bread $3.50 - very fresh and tasty, thumbs up! *Raspberry and chocolate muffin $4.50 - OMG... it's a huge muffin with giant chocolate chips on top and throughout the tasty and delicious are smaller chocolate chips that are distributed quality evenly and lots of raspberry in the middle. *Large cappuccino - a nomal serve already has 3 shots of coffee so no need to get the extra shot, it smells great, tastes awesome, bigger serving than maccas but tastes so much better. The quality is so.... good as I don't get upset tummy aches as other coffees have made me a bit sick. I'll definitely will come back again and again as it's on the way to work and the coffee here is so good..... Thumbs up
