I visited Kowboyz for the first time today and met Marie. It's a treasure trove of all things western for all ages. Many of her reviews are very positive. I don't do reviews, but I had to for Kowboyz. I loved her store and you will too. Marie and her amazing boot shop are an 11 out of 10! Marie is super helpful and patient. You will not feel rushed or pressured. She's welcoming & highly knowledgeable. I bought a beautiful pair of boots for myself & a pair for my nephew. Loved them! Her prices are fair for the quality. It's like a western thrift store. Goodwill 1888. Plus, like the name implies, it's Krazy with a K and street with the Z. Kowboyz N the Hood. You betta axe somebody. No, seriously, ask somebody, because the locals keep voting this top 3 stores for years running (Santa Fe Reporter, 2023). Plus, they've been in multiple magazines. Plus, they have a picture of Paul Rudd shopping there. You should, as a rule, pretty much so anything Paul Rudd is doing. Having originated near Hollywood 20 yrs ago, they've allegedly fit Brad Pitt, Sly Stallone, Elton John, Jay Leno, Mickey Rourke, Sean Penn, Julia Roberts, Britney Spears, Bruce Willis, Slash, and --- Madonna? What, did they sell her a spurred bra? The store is a great area near the Railyard. They claim theyhave the biggest boot selection, most at $99. Conveniently, the shirts are priced by section, so you don't have to hunt for price tags. The selection of shirts is great if you are a medium. As in size, not mental abilities. Almost all the western shirts were $14, I have no idea why this is a "$$" shop, I think it should be "$" because most of the shirts, jackets, jeans, and dresses were a bargain! Very kind staff who mentioned that they have shoppers who drive around to find western wear and then sell it to the store - so this might explain why I didn't find many western shirts at other stores. I was excited to come and see this place. I was going to purchase the Luchesse boots, and a denim shirt. I asked the owner if she could discount my shirt and I explained why and she was very rude. She said that if I didn't want to buy it someone else would. She babbled about her birthday and her grandkids and going to the movies but overall her rudeness was not needed all she had to say was "I apologize but I can't or flat out say no" ALL THE OTHER WAS UNNECESSARY!!!!! After making that comment all of us walked out and didn't buy anything. It was my first time here and I didn't appreciate her rudeness. We absolutely loved this place. Staff (Gail) was super friendly and helpful without any sales pressure yet answered with knowledgable any question we had. I knew I'd be inserting insoles into my boots were I to purchase a pair and when Gail found this out she promptly pulled out a pair of inserts for me to use while trying on boots. Fantastic! I don't want to spend $100 or more on a pair boots only to find that with an insole they are no more comfortable than without or maybe even worse. Both my wife and I ended up purchasing a pair of boots (that came with a free pair of boot socks) and spent 10 minutes after our purchase just talking with Gail. She had a great demeanor, was funny, super helpful, and like I said, no-pressure. If we lived in Santa Fe full-time (visiting from Florida) we'd shop at Kowboyz quite a bit. read more

Went in with high hopes of buying some boots (my daughter rides competitively) and some hats. There is very little selection for youth boots so we moved on to look at the hats. I don't know if we didn't "look" the part but a hat my daughter was looking at was taken out of her hands because "are you really going to buy a $100 hat?" Yes, indeed, ma'am we came to buy hats and as people with actual horse experience we know the cost of hats and boots. The correct customer service response should have been to help us find the section with the small hats. It's been a long time since I've been treated so poorly. They have a big adult selection so I gave two stars, I wouldn't expect stellar service though. read more

This place is like a thrift store with some current and vintage boots and apparel. For me, it's not 5 starts because I'm a "fluffy" person most of the actual nice shirts I saw weren't in my size and when I saw the prices, it was pretty high! The boots are nice as well. I had been looking all over the place for the boots i got here for months 10 minutes in kowboyz and i met my match. Once i put them on, i didn't want to take them off! This place blows my mind... I've never seen such a huge selection of cowboy clothing, boots, & accessories. It's a yeeeha heaven! The owner is super friendly & helpful. She's very hands on & knows what looks good. My dad who is super fussy when it comes to clothing went crazy & bought 10 shirts & boots... He loved it! Their prices are very reasonable... Most shirts are only $12 & their boots about $120. It's all genuine & authentic. I can't praise this place enough... They have comfy chairs for those of us who would rather relax than shop. I'm going to put it out there right now. Kowboyz rulez. With probably the largest selection of used, new and vintage western garb packed into a medium sized store, Kowboyz sets the bar this side of the Mississippi, if not both sides. They carry just about everything you need here from hats to spurs and everything in between. However, the real justifiable purpose of coming out here is for the boots. My oh my, the boots!! From ceiling to floor, there are endless rows of boots, neatly categorized by size. Prices start from $90 and up, depending on the quality of boot of course. There are some really exotic skins too - ostrich, deer, buffalo, cobra, gator and even elephant. You read correct: Dumbo-skin boots. I know, I know, it's a bit taboo to even consider but let me tell ya. I am still feening over that dark moss green pair. Are you a novice at the western boot look? Set aside those preconceived inhibitions and stereotypes. I kicked off my stylish Pradas and squeezed my anxious yet weary feet inside those screaming high boots and was amazed by how comfortable and sharp they looked (especially with jeans). I'm now hooked and can't wear them enough. The folks who work here are so sweet! Co-owner Suzy is a real doll and will tell you right away if something doesn't look good on you. I truly appreciate honest opinions like that, especially when I'm not in my element. Definitely come check out this place out if you find yourself in Sante Fe or even Albuquerque. Boot mecca! Just like everyone says. Super cute shop with tons of vintage appeal. But don't expect a cheap pair of boots. These are really nice vintage boots. You are NOT at the thrift shop. I like to bring visitors who are craving their first pair to Kowboyz so they don't have to take out a personal loan to afford boots! Shoo-eee! One of the best collections of used cowboy boots anywhere - around 5,000 pairs! Also a few random new/overstock pairs, but I thought the used boots were more interesting and a better deal. This little gem of a store lines 'em up by size on five or six shelves all around the walls and on racks on the floor. They also carry some new and used cowboy shirts, buckles, and hats, but Kowboyz is known for their unbeatable selection of boots. You are bound to find something to your liking. They have try-on socks for you and plastic bags (which actually work quite well!). If you can get your foot into a boot wearing a plastic bag, the boot will stretch and fit your foot nicely. Alternatively, you can wear two pairs of socks for a boot that is otherwise too large. I've done both, and they've worked out just fine. In fact, I am wearing one of my Kowboyz pair of boots right now as I write this review, and am very happy with them. Most pairs of boots will run $60 - $180 with the 20% discount if you pay with cash. I will definitely return upon my next trip to Santa Fe. read more

I was excited to visit Kowboyz on my first visit to Santa Fe. I took the whole family here. Even if you are not interested in buying some used western wear, it so fun to look through the boots, belts, and clothes. Granted, I am a native Texan so I wasn't all that impressed with the boots. The cheapest are $99. I was really hoping to find a deal but anything I liked was $300-$400. My 7 year old found a cowboy hat he wanted badly. It ended up being $49 for a dusty black felt hat that fit his head but no one else. The clothing selection is fair. I was really wanting to find more but the prices were high and the selection below par in my opinion. The ladies were very friendly and left us to browse around. My teen son found a leather jacket he licked but it was over $400. Really? Go for the experience (the only reason I'm giving them 3 stars), but don't necessarily expect to buy read more

Simply the best for Western wear. Amazing selection of new and used boots at great prices, gorgeous shirts, and hats. Much of the selection is vintage, including jewelry. Need some boots? How about a Western shirt (you know, plaid with snap buttons)? Don't wanna plop down a grip of cash for something new? Don't wanna sift through Buffalo Exchange or a thrift store? Try Kowboyz. Everything is pre-broken-in (read: used) some of it more so than other items. That's the fun of it! The boots I wasn't particularly impressed with, especially given my size (12). They have a great selection of western-inspired clothing and boots, although I would argue they have more men's than women's! I bought this really cute blue skirt, and my boyfriend bought a flannel. BUYER BEWARE..... MAKE SURE YOU CHECK YOUR BOOTS (INSIDE AND OUT FOR PROBLEMS) AS THIS STORE OWNER WILL NOT STAND BY HER MERCHANDISE - BUYER BEWARE. I found this store recently on a trip to Santa Fe and I purchased 2 pairs of boots (while I didn't see anything close to the $99/pair that I saw on alot of the marketing info I was pleasantly surprised at the volume of boots and accessories. The woman (NOT the owner) that helped me was charming and very nice. While I could have purchased a brand new pair of boots for what I paid for 2 pairs I liked the variety so purchased 2 pairs. Upon putting them on the next morning I noticed that the boots were pulling away from the sole all along the edges so I immediately called the store and explained what happened and brought them back to see what was going on. The original lady helping me apologized and said she would show her owner and they would get it fixed for me. Since that pair was out of commission while I was in Santa Fe I tried on the other pair to wear around town and noticed that when I put my foot in one of the boots (obviously not the one I had tried on) and immediately I felt a sharp pain in my foot and I went to pull my foot out and my sock was stuck to the bottom of the foot pad and my new dress socks ($18) were torn due to a large staple or nail of some sort being exposed in the boot. Wow - I couldn't believe my luck but again I called and walked from my hotel and brought the other boot to the store to be repaired as well. The owner was not there but I was assured they would take care of me since I had just purchased them and in addition I brought 2 other customers with me to shop and one purchased boots while we were there as well. I had explained that I had a specific function at home that i needed my boots for and that I really bought them specifically for this weekend event and needed them to be sent to me before then and much to my dismay the boots were not received back to me until after my event. However, the owner did send them out to the shoe shop to get repaired and not sure what they did but the sole was attached to the boot again and the nail/staple was no longer there. I wore the eel boots (I am not hard on my shoes and I don't wear the same shoe everyday) a few more times and noticed that once again the eelskin was pulling away from the bottom of the shoe and it also had split along one of the seems near the bottom of the boot (my guess iS- it looks like when they repaired the boot intially they had to pull some of the skin down to get it to be repaired where it pulled in originally and due to the material being so thin that it caused a problem again. I have not taken the boots to a shoe shop but i intend to do it to find out what if anything can be done. But I called the shop again and I spoke to the owner and she quickly told me in a not very nice tone- that she had never had to have any repairs ever done on anything they had sold and that she was not going to do anything else for me as she was losing money since she had to pay for the first repair and ship them to me since they weren't completed before I left town. She immediately told me "I don't know what you are doing with your boots but obviously you are too rough" and I am not there but I will not do anything else for you. I was nice despite what I felt was very rude and disrespectful to a customer who also brought another referral in to the shop. Not only was she not willing to apologize for all the trips and troubles I had with the boots but she was very rude. As a customer purchasing 2 pairs of boots - I have to say why the selection is enormous - BUYER BEWARE!!!!!!! BUYER BEWARE - the owner must rely on people just stopping by while they are in Santa Fe and not on repeat business as I would never talk to my customer the way she did and I certainly wouldn't tell them I am NOT doing ANYTHING else - it's not my problem essentially. I will stick to purchasing my boots from a quality dealer who will stand behind their product and try to find a win/win for a customer ESP when quality is the issue. I own several pairs of boots both cowboy and fashion and I have NEVER had any issues with any of my other boots and I also have never been treated by a merchant I visited with such rudeness. Tourist trap, and I am sorry to say it like that, you might think you are getting a good price on some old pair of boots, but do the research, while you are there over the phone, on ebay or etsy, unless you are in a hurry to over spend!! Great selection of second hand cowboy shirts and boots

Recently took a trip to Santa Fe and Found this little slice of heaven! Kowboyz was the place of my dreams I had been looking for used cowboy boots for a very long time but i am a size 71/2 and my size seems very hard to come by. So i took a stroll into Kowboyz and there is a HUGE selection of boots i could have stayed here for days i bought a pair of cream deer skin boots and i LOVE them and while ringing me up i was serenade with a happy birthday song! Lots of boots but the way they are organized makes it difficult to find the correct size, also not all of them have price tags. I thought they'd have more unique styles than a chain like Boot Barn, but it was frustrating seeing boots I kind of liked and then discovering they were the wrong size due to the confusing shelving. This place has a great selection of used stuff, some of the prices are really terrific and some for the prices are ridiculous! The reason to stop at Kowboyz is to find a pair of western boots that you can afford as they are used and number in the hundreds. Check out the kiddy section too. All is not vintage nor authentic due in part as used western style clothes are manufactured all over the world. It was rough work to sift through tons of imitations to find some gems. There are some to be found if you persevere and read labels and origination. Do a little homework and devote some time. Old leather purses, new woven bags, some warm outerwear n used jeans are less populous but worth a look. The shop is big and prices reasonable. read more

Really large selection of vintage (used/broken-in) & new cowboy boots. I am female & have a high arch and have tried on $800 Lucchese boots one sweaty afternoon with plastic wrap around my foot (no joke--it was in Fredericksburg, Texas), so when I had the same problem at Kowboyz, the owner Cristina suggested I try a man's boot & showed me the shelves lining the main room where all the sizes I could fit into were waiting. The lizard boots w/orange flamestitching on the shaft caught my eye. Perfect! When I was admiring them on my feet, another woman asked me if I was going to buy them & was very sad I was! Not the most expensive (actually, only $145) and perfect for wearing to the local rodeo. Looked like they had been worn only a short time before. Sprayed the inside w/Lysol. Good to go. read more

If you love your boots, you don't leave them at Kowboyz. You can look up any pair on-line while you're in the store and you'll see how ridiculous thier prices are. This store exists to rip off tourists who don't know any better. They will sell you a pair of used boot for twice what you'd pay for them new...don't be fooled by their "pitch" or deceived by their "discount" claims. They are OLD boots...they've been worn by other people!! Why do you think you can't return anything you buy here? They know you'll go home and look up the product on the internet and find out that you've been had.
