I had an absolutely lovely experience at this store. Helped by Anya and Kelly, I learned things about my feet that I had never known before, and I'm in my 60's. Apparently, I have complicated feet! Armed with this information, they brought me a variety of boots to try on. I wanted something sort of fancy and embellished. They brought me a very simple boot, a style I had never tried before in any boot, and when I put them on I didn't want to take them off. I'll wear these boots for years. I would like to commend and thank the entire staff at the Lucchese Bootmaker store in Santa Fe, New Mexico for their superior customer service, knowledge and patience when I was there a couple weeks ago. I was thinking  about buying a pair of cowboy boots, and after trying on so many styles and sizes that would be comfortable to my feet since I suffered horrific burns on both of them in the past. I would like to make a special shout out to salesman Eric Lomahaptewa who had amazing patirnce and the product knowledge to go with it. He answered all of my questions and concerns and let me try on so many boots without any pressure to buy whatsoever. After 1 hour of trying on so many boots we finally found a pair that worked perfectly for me. To me, Lucchese is the Mecca of boots! Sevice here was super efficient, but selection in sizes was very limited. Out of hundreds of pairs of boots, there was literally one pair - a display - that fit me. Disappointing. Nova searched and searched their stock, but just nothing in my size. I ended up buying a unique pair of driving moccasins instead. I was offered and accepted sparkling water during my visit. Would definitely recommend visiting here, but only if you are not in a rush. read more

This afternoon my husband and I had an incredible experience while shopping at the Santa Fe store. My husband, Jon, was considering the acquisition of a pair of Lucchese roper boots. (He was really just looking.). We were approached by a young man named Ryan. From the moment he greeted us with the most respect and the biggest smile you have ever seen, we were engaged. we learned that Ryan had grduated from high school just one year before, and worked here several days a week. The rest of the week he worked on the family ranch that has been in the family for several generations. Long story a bit shorter, this was one of the most enjoyable experiences we have had since coming to Santa Fe. Boot after boot, looking for the right size, Jon finally found a pair that he had to have. With each change of style or size, Ryan smiled, laughed, talked to me, and was incredibly helpful. Im a senior citizen and what I was so impressed with, was throughout the process, Ryan said "Yes sir, no sir." Always showing the greatest respect, simply because we are senior citizens. The young women who were in the store were wonderful. They all seemed grateful for our business. Do yourself a favor. Bought a pair of beautiful boots that will become a family heirloom. Wonderful customer service (Ryan helped me)!

After spending close to $3k at this location, I may be done with Lucchese forever. I oriniginally purchased the pictured attache bag for a little over $500. This location charged my card multiple times for the purchase, which whatever, stuff happens. But the amount of hoops I had to jump through to get them to refund the inaccurate charges was completely unacceptable. This hassle was unnecessarily exacerbated by a manager repeatedly stating, "I don't have to do this". What!?! You don't have to refund these fraudulent charges? Uhhmmm, I'm pretty sure that's EXACTLY what you have to do. Eventually got that sorted out, and taking Lucchese's reputation into consideration, I chalked it up to a fluke. Around a month later I decided it was time for new boots and a belt, and again I returned to Lucchese. What a fiasco. Dude didn't know how to fit a boot properly at all, and continued to push incentivised inventory rather than bringing me what I was asking for. Still, I managed to walk out with a new pair of Nopales as well as an ostrich belt. I noticed mere days into wearing the belt that the top edge was receiving wear each time I put it on from a rough edge inside the buckle. I had to file it down to save the belt. This is unacceptable quality control on a $350 belt. Fast forward a couple of months and I'm walking through the Plaza when the attache bag abruptly falls from my shoulder. The D ring where the bandolier strap attached to the bag had simply fallen apart. It was clearly just glued in. Again, just shoddy craftsmanship at master craftsman price levels. Zero quality control. When I returned to the Santa Fe store with the bag I had purchased there mere months ago, an associate retrieved Angelee a manager, to speak with me. From jump it's all shrugging shoulders and sort of an almost half smile "so you figured out our stuff is actually junk eh?" vibe. I was told there was no warranty on bags and that the "master" bootmakers at Lucchese cannot repair it. Our boots she says, our boots have a one year warranty, so if it were a pair of boots... LMFAO! That's right folks, at Lucchese your $2500 boots are good for a whole year ONE YEAR Then I heard a familiar phrase... "you know I don't have to do this, but" Of course!! It's the same manager that acted like she was doing me a huge favor to return my money when they charged me multiple times for THIS VERY BAG! I told her obviously that's true, you don't have to do anything. You didn't have to get out of bed this morning, but here we are. In this instance I suppose it's a matter of reputation. She proceeded to set us up with a store credit, which was then transferred to an outlet in El Paso which still had the bag in stock. The outlet mailed me replacement bag which I received today. To my eye and touch this is clearly a bag that wound up in an outlet for being lower quality. No glaring flaws, but after carrying the same style bag for a few months the degraded quality is apparent. Much of the trim is lower quality stiffer leather than my original, much of the stitching is not as smooth, and the same D ring that failed on my original looks to be just as sloppily glued in on this bag. It almost certainly will not last any longer than the original. I may try ordering direct in the future, but much of what I've experienced are quality control issues which start at the top. After experiencing that, am I really going to shell out for another $2k pair of boots knowing they're only good for a year?? This stuff is too expensive to be so cheap and there are too many other places in Santa Fe offering ACTUAL master crafted goods, why would you spend money on these headaches? As for the Santa Fe location specifically? They need a full staff turnover and the replacements need to be trained. So long as Angelee is there they, "don't have to" help you with anything apparently. read more

Sarah said she was new to this store and she was rocking her old Lucchese's like the rock star that she was. She took me on a tour of the entire wall of skins each and every one and wouldn't stop until seriously I'm thinking like almost a half hour rabbit passed out waiting. The ratio of lovely helpful sincere floor people to prospective purchasers was such that personal attention like this was made possible and sure as I'm sitting here with my feet all covered in Caiman I don't recall being kept company like that in a store in a very long time if ever. Thank you Sarah. I told her I had to go to the bar for an hour to do what I needed to do in order to make a transaction like this actually take place and two glasses later there I was and we did what we needed to do and life once again was as perfect as it had ever been. Useful Tip courtesy of Sarah - if your home state has no brick and mortar store let them ship your boots for as the shipping is but a fraction of what the sales tax would be. You may be able to save a little if you poke around on line because you trade the luxury of feeling the skin before it arrives in your mailbox but a) who would do this and b) there would be no Sarah and c) that's just silly. High quality footwear that will last a lifetime. I get the same high quality customer service here at the Santa Fe location, that I do at other Lucchese stores in Texas. When I come in to buy a $1,000 pair of shoes, I want good customer service. And I was not disappointed with the customer service experience of staff at this location. My husband and I just came back from a trip to Santa Fe. The exceptional people we met in our travels made this a truly memorable experience. One of them was Rudy Smedley at Lucchese Bootmaker. I bought a pair of boots at the shop on the plaza and the selection and service were flawless. Elle helped me with the boots and I was very pleased. After wearing them, a fold on one was hitting a spot on my ankle. It was more bothersome than a typical break-in. I returned to the shop and Angelee kept them over night and stretched one in that spot. It helped a lot. Everyone I met there was so pleasant and helpful. My experience was one of the best I've encountered, particularly in a boot shop. Top quality paired with superior service makes for happy customers which I certainly am. Went to Santa Fe for the Fiesta Fine Arts and was delighted to find a Lucchese store on the Plaza. Found the boots I have been wanting for forever, got the correct old-fashioned fit for them (as it should be) and had the best possible time - all thanks to Rudy Smedley. My SO also wanted a pair of boots; Rudy was exceedingly helpful and patient, as he has never worn a pair of boots before and has large, wide and hard to fit feet. We learned a great deal about boots from Rudy...and are anxiously waiting for the pair we ordered. This whole process took up a great deal of Rudy's morning and he was determined that we get what we needed - and we did. This would not have happened without him and I am so grateful. Went into the store to purchase boots. We totally ignored. I guy working finished with his customer and went stomping across the floor looking at his phone and never acknowledged me standing there hot 15 mins. I left and went back the next day. I really wanted the boots. Same guy, offered to get the boots I wanted. Handed them to me and walked away. Never helped with the fit or offered a different boot to try. So I left again. Even though this tony boot store on the Santa Fe Plaza is best known for their exquisite selection of exotic leather shoes and boots, there are also a great selection of beautiful men's shirts, coats, belts and accessories. It might have been our good fortune or good timing but we were able to find a number of very stylish Robert Graham shirts on sale for 40% off (very reasonably prices). I was pleased that the sales associates are very nice and no pressure what so ever. Who knows, maybe next time we'll save up and go for the boots as well! read more

There is no fit like a Lucchese boot. Of course, Lucchese means, " a person from Lucca", which is a city in Italy. This Lucchese came from Italy around 1883 and started making cowboy boots. Steel shanks, myriad choices of heels, toes, leathers, stitchings, medallions and styles. From fashion heels to riding boots, cockroach killers to wide toe, there is no better place to find your perfect fit and style. One way to judge a cowboy boot is the number of rows of stitching across the toe of a cow leather boot. The more rows, the more flexible it will be in the most critical spot. Count! You won't find better. Of course, I prefer caiman leather for its waterproof qualities. And I aspire to ostrich, which likewise does not need the stitching. But soft goat to hippo (they source hides after animala have died), you can't find better choices. They will custom make your personal preference or you can buy off the shelf. I've had a few pairs made - but I've bought off the shelf as well. Staff here is amazing. Accommodating and honest, you will be informed of every parameter you need to make a good decision. Black is classic. Raisin is gorgeous. My red caiman pair make people stop me on the streets when I visit Italy to enquire about them. Don't pass this up! Try on a pair or two. They usually fit like a glove, even right off the shelf. It's not cheap, but they last a lifetime (get Lucchese to re-sole them and they do it from the upper down)! Besides, precious things cost money. You will look and feel like a millionaire. read more

Went to the Santa Fe Lucchese Store a few days ago to look at some new roper-style boots. I looked at a lot of boots on Lucchese's great web page but at some point it becomes a bit overwhelming given all the different styles, boot shapes, colors, etc. Add to that is the fact that I've never worn 'cowboy boots' before. I kind of knew what I 'thought' would look good on me, but a trip to the store is well worth your while. Enter Lucchese Sales Associate Charlie T., who is just incredible. Charlie is super knowledgeable regarding the entire Lucchese line. She listened when I told her what type of style I like, what type of event I would wear the boots, etc. We talked for about 15 minutes, she sincerely welcomed my thoughts about boots that I was considering, and she provided a detailed explanation of the characteristics of each. Then, based on our discussion, she also provided some additional recommendations. Oh, and as we had our discussion she let me see and feel each style of boot so I could make some initial judgements (they have an amazing inventory!). I never imagined that there could be such a variety of fit, feel, leather types, heels, toes, etc. in boots. She was invaluable in helping me narrow down my choices! After trying on a number of boots (and Charlie was happy to show me more boots/styles/colors if I wanted.) I settled on the Hudson Ostrich Full Quill Roper in Black Cherry and Black. I thought they looked so good that I kept asking every lady who walked by what they thought of them! I'm sure Charlie thought I was a nut but she was very polite and had a great sense of humor. Anyways, the boots look great; the service was exceptional; the selection and available sizes was remarkable; and I so much appreciated the kind and no-pressure service provided by Charlie and the other sales team members. I have shopped in the Santa Fe store for over 15 years and I love the ever changing western boot and clothing styles. In the past I have had difficulty getting fitted due to my foot requiring a very high arch. This October found us in Santa Fe again and, of course, we stopped in Lucchese. I worked with the store manager, Loren, and as I am in sales myself, I was pleased to be offered the best customer service I have experienced anywhere. Loren was able to answer each and every question I had concerning the fit of the boots. Loren also engaged his other store employees as training while he made comfortable a "hard fit". We love the boots and my favorite shirt of all time was found there as well. If you want a great western boot, this is the place. The staff KNOW boots. Checking the prices on-line at other shops, in general, this store is $50 above on-line pricing. You can find better deals on-line if they have the size you want. We have found that your typical shoe size does not equate to the size in the store. So get fitted at the store then try to find a discount place with your model and size - you could save a bunch. That said, we just spent some dough on a fabulous pair of this shop's boots because we couldn't find them on-line, and they gave us a deal. read more

And now... the rest of the story! This is an addendum to my first review of 3/12/2014. Please see below.. Okay, here we go. This is about a pair of boots that I ordered in late July of 2012. One day in July 2015, I received an email from Ms. Robyn Vickers of Lucchese Boots in Santa Fe. She informed me that she was the new store manager, and that she was looking through the reviews and saw mine. She asked me if my issue of the poorly fitting boots had been resolved to my satisfaction with the Santa Fe store, or any of their other stores. I emailed her and told her that I had pretty much resigned myself to the fact that I had a beautiful pair of black cherry kangaroo's that were forever to reside in my closet because they made my feet hurt. She let me know that that was not good enough for her, and that she would take it upon herself to see to it that I was satisfied. She also informed me that it didn't matter how far into the future it was that we would return to Santa Fe, she would see to it that I ended up with a proper fitting pair of boots. Well, we were in Santa Fe this past February. My new boots showed up a few weeks ago, and all's well! They look great and feel great! I toured the Lucchese Factory in El Paso, TX in 2013. It's an incredible tour, and the pride reflected in the faces of the artists that create those boots is so evident! And when you visit with Robyn about Lucchese Boots and her position with the company, you can't help but pick up on her sense of pride, and rightfully so. She is an expert who knows her product inside and out, and she believes in the quality of Lucchese boots. Her parting words to me were...
