There are giant take home boxes where you can grab several pounds of meat at once for a big party or a tailgate. The prices are all so low. So obviously, all the meats are coming from the classes that they're teaching in the meat and food sciences building that this place is attached to. Those spare ribs might have been some student's midterm project. The meat is all displayed (shrink wrapped) in big glass cases. Prices are clearly displayed. Buy in bulk and save! Everything is clearly labeled with the Texas A&M logo so nobody gets confused about where you got your meat. They have helpful posters that inform the purchaser about where different cuts come from on the animal. The staff was super friendly and helpful. They offer a microwave in the corner if you need to warm up something and take it to go. My favorite is the sausage that's shaped into a football. Gig 'em! I usually buy New York strips, Ribeye Steaks and Brisket. I love looking at all of the cuts in the meat counter. They also have a great selection of sausage. The Jalapeno & cheddar is my favorite! The service is always friendly and the store well stocked. My last trip was for New York strip steaks. I also love their house blended rubs! There's almost nothing you can't find here. They have everything from duck to Turducken. Did I mention the rotisserie chicken or divine homemade pies? Peach & Apple all delicious. Whenever I'm in town, I almost always visit Readfield to make something delicious for the family!

I had a few basic questions about their products and pricing, and it felt like I was inconveniencing the staff just by asking. There was little effort to explain options or provide recommendations. The store itself also seemed disorganized and not as clean as I would expect from a meat market. The display cases didn't look well-maintained, and some products appeared poorly labeled, making it hard to tell what I was purchasing. On top of that, the pricing didn't reflect the level of quality or service provided. I expected better overall professionalism and attention to detail. Based on this visit, I wouldn't return or recommend it to others unless significant improvements are made in customer service and store upkeep.

It is a small store with groceries to the right and a meat/butcher counter to the left. The store only had a couple of customers in it at that time. I strolled around the limited groceries and they had the basics. Then I wandered back toward the meat counter. Dividing the two sections I found precut meats. This is when I decided to do my test on chicken breasts. Couldn't find the full breasts so I went with smaller cut pieces. Just an FYI, you can request any cuts of meats at the counter. Cocoa's advertises itself as a kitchen supply store, and they definitely carry plenty of upscale brands (Zwilling, Breville, Le Creuset). We, however, were there for the Chocolate Gallery. The kitchen is surrounded by glass, so you can see all of the chocolate delicacies being made. We stopped in a few days before Valentine's day, so chef was making chocolate covered strawberries. While peering in, we noted the Culinary Institute of America chef's jacket on the wall behind us. This elevated our expectation! We made our way to the Chocolate Gallery, where a lovely attendant explained offerings that included a variety of cakes and artisan chocolates. Though they looked delicious, we passed on the cakes and strawberries, and selected 3 artisan chocolates each. These are the type of chocolates that you savor, letting them melt in your mouth. The mouth feel of these gems was smooth with no waxiness or grainy feeling, and the varied fillings enhanced the complexity. This isn't a penny candy store, but you're getting fine chocolates. Unfortunately, we were so busy savoring the chocolate, that we didn't take any photos! I hope Bryan supports this store during COVID-19 so that we can visit again when we come back.
