The food was absolutely phenomenal!!! I had some of the best donuts and kolachies EVER!!! I came to the shop early in the morning (around 6 am) and the donuts were just being made. The chocolate glazed donut I got was sooo fluffy and doughey!! I was surprised to find out they make their own chocolate sauce, and it was absolutely delicious. It is such a cute little shop and the owner is so sweet and welcoming!! I'm honestly so glad I didn't waste my time looking at the reviews beforehand because none of the bad reviews come anywhere close to the experience I had. Once again, the lady working there was so sweet and I had a wonderful conversation with her. I had biked for, I kid you not, hours before stopping there and I felt completely refreshed after I left. I was craving a donut and have not been a fan of too many of the area donut shops so I remembered this place and made my way over for a visit. They are in a small "shack" type building at the corner of Main and Northwest Highway. The place has a nice country charm to it, thus giving appropriateness to their name Kountry Donuts! You can either drive thru, or you can go in. This being my first visit I chose to go in to see what all they had going on. When you open the door, the donut counter about hits you in the face as their is not much lobby space, just a small area in front of the donut display case. I was greeted warmly by who I believe were probably a mother and daughter ownership team. Both were very nice and seemed genuinely happy that I had stopped by. I chose a Cinnamon Roll and a Bavarian Cream Donut. The Bavarian Cream donut was pretty good, but the star of the show was the Cinnamon Roll, which was absolutely delicious! When in Grapevine, TX a trip to Kountry Donuts on Main St. for breakfast treats is always a good thing. So delicious! We ordered a ham, egg and cheese croissant. She cracked the eggs as soon as we ordered. So it was warm and fresh, with melty cheese and tasty ham. The croissant was flaky and oh so good. The pastry was big enough for us to split. We also ordered chocolate iced donuts which had just been iced and were still warm from cooking. These donuts were not the chain store small donuts again we split one and each had a large portion. We also got an Apple Fritter! This is what I go here for. It's light and airy, large enough to share or have some now and later. The perfect Apple Fritter cooked to perfection, with small bites of apple, flavored with cinnamon and iced with a sweet glaze. AMAZING and again this was huge and shareable. And we got a cinnamon roll that looks absolutely delicious but we were full by now so we will be saving it for later, much later. Note: if it's Monday you will have to wait as the owners after many years of working 7 days a week are finally getting a day of rest. So don't plan on a Monday morning treat. Owned by Carl Kim and his wife Kountry Donuts is small enough that local natives might be entirely unaware of its existence, but for those seeking greater Dallas' best Fritter the store at 102 South Main Street in Grapevine should be a destination. Part of the community since 1996, really nothing more than a shack that once housed a service station, it is beginning at 5am daily that Donuts and Kolaches are scratch-made, no pre-mixes or specials for the #gram but rather good ol' fashioned craftsmanship that sees yeasted rings fluffy but not full of air and Blueberry Cake well-studded with Fruit beneath a layer of glaze. Still rolling Dough and frying at opening, Fritters not yet ready but Mr. Kim happy to make one fresh, it was just 5 minutes later that a foot-plus of Apples, Cinnamon and crispy Batter was deposited in a box still too-hot-to-eat, though that certainly did not prevent this writer from trying. As many of you know (through other reviews), I love donuts!! I choose one or two donut shops in almost every place I visit to try while I am there, and while being in Grapevine Texas, I chose Kountry donuts. We tried the original glazed, chocolate iced, maple iced, a blueberry cake, and an old-fashioned cake donut. I will say that the blueberry cake donut was the driest cake donut I've probably ever had... The flavor was okay, but the cake itself was very dry. The old-fashioned cake donut was much better, and had good flavor, but I still needed to dunk it in my coffee. Now for the yeast donuts... I am a cake donut person, but I will say that the yeast donuts here kill the cake ones! The maple iced was very good, but the original glazed yeast donut is the best glazed yeast donut I've ever had. It was very good! Be sure to get one of those, and a cup of their coffee... The coffee was actually spot on! Lastly, the woman who helped me at the front of the counter (who may have been the owner,) was very sweet, and deserves to have her business supported! read more

Great kolaches (pigs in a blanket.) Not a lot of bread and good size pigs. Apple fritter is large and FLAT. I mean flat like a pancake flat. Like a thin pancake flat. This is the reason it looks so big. It's about average size, just flat. Agree that the prices will give you sticker shock. I got 3 kolaches and 2 donuts, 1-filled and a cinnamon roll, and it was $16 and change. Nothing special. read more

I'm originally from small town Arkansas where I grew up on the famous spudnut. It's basically a donut made with potato flour. Spudnut shops come few & far in between. There is nothing like them! Anywho, when I saw Kountry Donuts listed on the official Spudnut website I had to check this place out! Clearly they are a favorite in the area! Right now you can only get them through the drive thru in which they have 2 lines for. Both lines were pretty long but they moved fast. Service was great! They were courteous & friendly. Some of the, if not the best donuts in Grapevine. The donuts here are always fresh and delicious. I also love the pigs in the blanket. Not sure what dough they use but I imagine it's what heaven would taste like if it existed or if you could eat it. They have two drive through windows and you can also walk in and personally check out the tasty delectables yourself. If you stop in at say 7am you can see them tossing the donut dough right in front of you. One thing to keep in mind here is that it's CREDIT OR DEBIT CARD ONLY. They do not take cash. I just ordered an egg, bacon and cheese breakfast burrito... And wish I could get my $2.25 back. Where to start... Well she claimed it was made fresh in-house daily, and... I won't disagree. However, it obviously was made 100% in a microwave. The tortilla was so soggy and microwaved so intensely that I couldn't open it up to add the Pace picante sauce they gave me with it. Before I made it that far, I had to get the burrito out of the butcher paper it came in and the tortilla was stuck to it. So I lost about 50% of the tortilla in the removal process as it had glued itself to the butcher paper. Next for the surprise inside... When I finally broke through the soggytilla, I discovered their version of... I guess... a scrambled egg. It was a rectangle, solid and evenly formed and it was yellow giving it the resemblance of an egg yet had obviously been microwaved past the point of no return. The edges were seared with missing evaporated areas that it been microwaved into submission. However, the good news was it was fully cooked and cooked and cooked. I then noticed the bacon. It was about 50% cooked and had apparently been so for a few days... It was more rubbery than anything thanks to the microwave. Being a guy, I decided I was still hungry and it was cooked enough that if I dump the picante sauce on top I could probably make it through; it seem like a good idea at the time but in retrospect I'm still a little nauseous. I then acknowledged to myself that you don't go to a donut shop for a breakfast burrito regardless of the promises of "freshness", licked my wounds and as such went back to their obvious saving grace of donuts given the five-star reviews by 15 different people. Upon trying their donuts I came to one of three conclusions on the previous reviews: 1) the people that gave them were either paid, 2) or they had never eaten a donut or 3) this was a fluke and the worst baking day in the history of the company... Why do I say that??? It wasn't a Donut. It was a DOUGH Nut. What I had was the same size and look as a traditional donut, but weighed about three times as much, as it was incredibly dense and surprising just at the initial grasp of it. Also, when I bit into it, not only was it very dense and doughy but a chunk of the dough was still raw... I then grabbed another and another and even the fourth and they all felt the same weight and when I tore into another it was still raw on the inside. I literally threw up in my mouth a little bit. I purchased the dozen donuts for the office and threw them away before walking in the door. In conclusion, I can't state it any better than the principal did in the movie Billy Madison, "I grant you no points and may God have mercy on your soul." read more

We have both jumbo and regular size sausage rolls, I have seen things on here about big orders, yes it is better to call a day ahead if you know your comimg, so you don't have the chance of being disappointed if we don't have what you need, that is not always the case, we get really busy in the morning's, so we sell out fast usually, not for the day but usually for about 15-20min. Cute little location on Main Street in grapevine. Thought I would try something new since I've never been here. Upon arrival, I was greeted by a sign that says no cash, credit card only. Staff is really friendly. I ordered a dozen glaze and one dozen chocolate, plus six sausage rolls. Donuts are the largest I've ever seen and sausage rolls are the smallest I've ever seen. Would I go back? Probably not. I prefer fluffy airy donuts over cake texture donuts. Donuts seem to be a little stale and crusty. Don't take my word for it.
