Ok. I. Normally only review places that suck because they move me enough to do scream about them. But then there are some rare times that a place make me want to yell from the top of my lungs their praises. Kountry Donuts is one of those places Let's just start off with the quality and taste of the donuts. They're fabulous. Nothing fancy. No maple bacon smothered in goat cheese on top of a chocolate donut type crap here. Good old fashioned delicious donuts. Apparently everyone loves their sausage rolls too. Tho I can't bring Myself to order any. Never had one before, so maybe one day. Apparently these things are huge in Texas as everyone gets them. Anyhoo. But let's talk about the most important part of the business. The owners and people working their. ABSOLUTELY AMAZING PROPLE! Unlike some places that you just get horrible service with crappy attitudes. NEVER will you get that here. Never will you get attitude or crap there. Went here for the first time, really good service. Donuts looked HUGE. definitely different vibe than any other donut place I've been too. When I got home with my Raspberry filled Donut there was not raspberry in it. Lol ‍ I still ate half of it. The ratio of bread to glazed on the outside is all off because it's supposed to have a filling in side. My Husbands was good. He had a cherry filled one. Not sure maybe the pumps are not working properly for the filled donuts because the amount of cherry filling was very little. I'd give them another shot someday. Don't typically eat donuts that often. Just check your donuts before you leave lol. read more

I stopped by Kountry Donuts this morning, 1/17/18 @ 7:00am, for donuts. They were cold and did not taste fresh at all. I was shocked. I use to come here all the time. Prior to today, the donuts were still hot 30 min after I left and ALWAYS tasted fresh. I use to brag about this place having the best donuts ever. Not anymore. New ownership?? I don't know what happened to this place. On weekdays, there use to be cars lined up at both pickup windows and people cramming into the small inside area to order. I should've suspected something had changed this morning when I was the only customer to be seen. Hopefully, today was just a bad morning or something. I don't plan to return though. read more

What a dilemma I have: excellent donuts and the RUDEST woman ever! Let me do this in story format: I try to make people smile by saying things that are obviously goofy. For example, I may order a large Coke and a small Diet Coke at the drive-thru, and then they give them to me, I ask, "Now, which one is the Coke?" Or, "I forgot my credit cards, do you take cash?" Goofy stuff, and all said with a smile on my face. 100% of the time, in my experience, it's appreciated. Well, this morning, I went to this place with one of my sons. At the drive thru, I ordered a dozen glazed donuts and a dozen kolaches. The woman (obviously the rude one described in several reviews below) said, "regular kolaches?" In my attempt to make her smile, I said, with a smile on my face, "regular as opposed to irregular?" This was clearly a joke. She replied, "When I say 'good morning' to someone, it's always nice to hear 'good morning' in response." Since I had, indeed, wished her "good morning" to begin with, I was pleased to hear this. Well, I think I mistook her tone. After she handed me the kolaches, she said, while walking away, "regular glazed donuts?" When she came back and handed them to me, I said, "these aren't the irregular ones, right?" Again, clearly a joke...and with a smile on my face. After I paid, she said - okay, literally yelled (I'm not joking) - something I've never heard any merchant say in my 58 years on earth: "You probably drove past a lot of donut shops on your way here. Next time, stop at one of them and I REALLY HOPE YOU DON'T COME BACK!!!" At first, I thought she was kidding; after all, it was a nice day, I was obviously goofing around, and, well, why would any merchant tell a paying customer never to come back? But, the tone of her voice made it clear that she was not joking. I must assume that, in being so rude (again, see the reviews below), she must be VERY rich and not need any more customers or money. So, being the nice guy that I am, I hereby grant her wish: I will never darken her drive-thru again, nor either of their other two locations. Nor will any of my six kids. P.S. Speaking of my joke "I forgot my credit cards, do you take cash?" - it's true - this place does NOT take cash. Oh, and the drive-thru is very tight, there are new employees pretty much every time (gee, I can't imagine why....), and the prices are high. But, I have to admit, From now on, Donut Palace - which is right up the street and has good donuts AND VERY NICE employees - will get my money. read more

Yay for cheap, yummy donuts! A friend brought me here early one Saturday morning. It's no wonder I've never been before - blink & you'll miss it. This cute, little shack has just enough space for a few workers, a few customers, a cooler with beverages, & a lot of tasty treats. I dropped all of just over $1 for a warm, fresh cinnamon twist. It was huge, though that didn't stop me from chowing down. I'm a fan of cinnamon & this thing was covered in it. Before I knew it, my twist was gone & I was pondering a second one. Fortunately, we needed to get going, so I saved myself the extra calories this go 'round. Next time, I doubt I'll be so lucky. I like that you have the option to either walk up or hit the drive thru. I know it's a small area, but a table or something on the small lawn space would be great for those of us sticking around to attack our donuts. Overall, it's not a bad little place. Love this place, and have been going for years. We even try to come now that we don't live in the area anymore if we're passing through. I haven't had a donut there yet that I didn't like but my favorite are the cinnamon roll and the cream filled. They also serve kalaches and drinks. They are very popular and I have seen looong lines and they do run out of some donuts if you go too late in the morning. read more

The donuts are not the best by any means, and sometimes it gets so crowded there's a wait. But when those kolaches come fresh and hot out of the oven, they are slap yo mamma good!! That good! This place is right up the street from me, and ever since I moved here in September, Ive been dying to check it out... A little shack with a hot donut sign - you know its good! Well, today was the day - months later... I got a glazed, a pig n the blanket, and small coffee for $2.65. The piggy was ok.. I didnt really like the cheese sausage they use, but I think thats the way they all come. The glazed was warm, sugary, buttery - everything a donut should be! I ate it in like 10 seconds... I should have gotten more. Be forewarned... I have seen crazy long lines there. I went at 10 on Sunday, so there was no line.. So it was my girlfriends birthday, and I thought what better dessert to offer her then her favorite "donuts". And since she's never had these, we thought we would give them a shot. Unfortunately, I realized this about 20 minutes till they closed (and we were on the outskirts of Grapevine at the time). After some... (clearing throat) creative driving we just make it with 5 minutes to spare. "We're out of glazed donuts" DARN IT! So we get some Vanilla and Chocolate glazed donuts instead. Ok, it's hard to make a comparison with other donut locations (since we got there so late), but I'll try my best below. (according to my taste buds and memory) Compared to you're usual Donut Shop, Kountry Donuts is better (though they offer about the same kind of donut). A cold Kountry Donut is about par with a cold Krispy Kreme donut. Round Rock Donuts (though located in Round Rock, TX) is a different donut altogether so I can't make a fair judgement (though I still love Round Rock Donuts). Kountry Donuts sits in a tiny little shack on the corner of Main Street and Northwest Highway. Been there, seemingly, forever. Some of the very best donuts around! Believe-it-or-Not, I still have never had a warm Krispy Kreme donut. But comparing a room-temperature Krispy Kreme to a similar Kountry donut, I'll take Kountry every time. Friends that have had both -- warm -- feel the same way. The only reason I'm giving them 4 stars instead of 5 is because the value isn't what it used to be. A dozen assorted regular (i.e., none of the filled or oversized) donuts will set you back $6. (Update 4.5 years later, October 2011...still great, but prices have gone up, naturally. A dozen now goes for $7.50, tax included.) read more

I'm not sure if this woman was the owner or not but she essentially "yelled" at me about ordering 5 dozen donuts. I even tried calling a hour ahead to give a heads up but she said couldn't do that over the phone and to go ahead and come in, which I understood. After waiting 20 minutes in line and finally getting to the front she told me there was no way that she could do that, there was too many other costumers that needed donuts, and to come back another day. My 1st and only visit to this place was this morning. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this place. Credit cards only! I understand that to some degree, taste is subjective. That being said, we could not finish the old fashion and blueberry doughnuts we purchased. I've powered through the occasional bad doughnut in the past, but my wife and I could not finish any of the doughnuts in the box this time. Donuts were a big hit for an office birthday party. Had to remove one star since I ordered 1/2 dozen glazed and 1/2 dozen 'assorted' and received 5 glazed and 7 assorted/chocolate covered.It still came out to a full dozen, but glazed are always the first to go, so I was a little surprised/disappointed that I didn't get what I ordered.
