Rumor has it that Flower Mound has more donut shops per capita than any other city in Texas. Ok I'm totally joking, but there really are a LOT of places around here to buy donuts. If you've ever driven around town it's hard not to notice. So while I say that in jest it could actually be true. Who knows! What I do know is that Morriss Donuts always serves up warm, fresh, tasty donuts and kolaches with the added convenience of a drive thru. Also, I find that the best service comes from locally owned businesses and this one is no exception. It's run by some of the nicest people around who will undoubtedly brighten your day. There are literally no negatives to report about a place where you can roll out of bed, still wearing pajamas if you please, and get delicious breakfast foods from the comfort of your car. Kind of a depressing experience. To be fair, we went at 9:00 on a Tuesday but that is no excuse. There were hardly any doughnuts, not even a plain glazed. They told us it would be an hour if we wanted one. The glazed cinnamon twist we settled for was nothing special. The jalapeño sausage kolache was not too good. I left some in the bag, which is pretty bad for me. I have a pretty good tolerance for mediocrity when it comes to kolaches. I have been to places where there is the "once we sell out, it's gone" before but those places had exceptional doughnuts. Truly off the charts. This place doesn't get that pass. Sorry. I've come here almost every weekend since they've opened. The customer service is amazing and they always give me extra treats with my order. Their donuts are beyond delicious. Came at 0830, greeted with friendly faces. Ordered two glazed and one buttermilk cinnamon donut. All tasted very fresh. Glaze had that lovely chewy, pillowy doughy texture that I want in my donut. This was the first time to visit since they opened recently. With everything that is going on, it was nice to have a drive thru option. The faculty looked clean and the employees were wearing masks. They were very nice! But to the reason you are probably reading this review...the donuts. The glazed with sprinkles and cake donuts were great. They tasted fresh and were light.
