It's hard to describe Kossar's bialys other than saying, they're absolutely perfect. I went with my dad this morning to pick some up from their York Ave location, and it was a clean, quiet little spot on the corner of the street. It wasn't too crowded, so we were helped right away and got our bialys quickly. I believe it was my first time having Kossar's, and it definitely didn't disappoint! It has a slight bite, and is soft and fluffy on the inside, yet solid as well. This is a must-try!

Kossar's has never disappointed me that I can remember! I've been here with my daughter and my Yelp Friend Jasmine. I come at the right time to get a seat. The service is fast and the counter employees are smiling and professional. The bagels are so good and they have my favorite Pumpernickel Everything. All the cream cheese is delicious but I enjoy the Strawberry best. Customers come in spirts usually to take out. I don't tie up a table long just eat and go. It's a special treat after the dentist! The Flagels and Bialys are good too. Check it out tourists, and yes go out of your way to come here!

This is just a local breakfast store I just stepped foot in one morning when I was kind of sick. I needed comfort food and this was just the breakfast store available where I was standing. Walking into the store made me realize the time I used to live in Lower East Side back in the days when I was a toddler. I saw all the black and white pictures and they made me reminisced. Anyways, the kitchen looks pretty nice and hip allowing customers to see how they bake and do their work in the kitchen. So many glass doors and windows in the kitchen. There are many styles of bagels like garlic everything, whole wheat everything, and egg everything. Many types of cream cheese too. What caught my eye was the fact that they got turkey bacon, which is not fatty at all compared to regular bacon. Wish the prices were a lot lower for the hot breakfast sandwiches. For some reason, the coffee is on the lower end of the pricing scale compared to the hot breakfast sandwiches. Hopefully they have some specials to make it enticing and attract customers. The shopping paper bags are very elegant as they are labeled and branded with the Kossar name. They are reusable until broken.

Great tasting bialys are very hard to find and given the abundance of bagel shops, it woukd appear that baking bialys has fallen out of fashion. And that's why i was thrilled that Kossar's opened up a new location on York Avenue and 75th Street! While I live further west, since we were visiting friends who specifically asked us to bring bialys, I took my assignment seriously and loved the selection of onion, Gsrlic and everything bialys! There's no such thing as a " plain bialy" since there was a time when you could only buy them with onions! The good news is that Kossar's bialys are DELICIOUS! They also have fresh baked bagels, cookies, cakes and wonderful spreads.

Bagels are one of my favorite foods, and Kossar's hits the spot! I just found my go-to order: the Kossar's Classic Sandwich with cucumbers added. This flavor combo is everything.

Solid choice for bagels, cream cheese, smoked salmon, and other goodies. There is some limited indoor and outdoor seating. Order at the counter. The line moved quickly and our food (two bagels with smoked salmon) came out immediately. The bagels are more of the light, airy, crispy type (not dense at all). There was an adequate amount of salmon. The iced coffee was excellent!

Came on a Monday morning, line wasn't too long so service was quick. I ordered the kossar's classic on an everything bagel and it was delicious! The lox were so fresh and the bagel lightly toasted and flavorful. I definitely recommend!

At 8am on a Monday morning there was no line which made our visit quick. They are very efficient with taking orders and payment! The gluten free bagels are pretty good for gf bagels according to my friend. They have gluten free bagels available in plain and everything. They also have 2-3 vegan tofu spreads. They are kind of hidden on the menu but I'm glad to know now that they have them.

A classic spot to get bagels and bialys in Lower East Side. Kossar's is famous for its bialys, so apparently their bialys are top notch, even better than their bagels imo. *Onion Bialys Bialy is a flat roll with a hole in the center spread with onion. It has a soft bread like texture. Compared to bagels, bialys are less dense and less filling. If you don't wanna unhinge your jaw for a bagel, bialys will be a good alternative. Their bialys are very fresh and fluffy. You can add spread to your bialys, but I like enjoying them plain. *Whole Wheat Bagel w. Tofu Veggie CC My go-to bagel order at any bagel spots. Size-wise it is not as big as other typical New York bagels. I prefer it smaller anyway so I won't feel extremely full after finishing one.

My everything bagel was quite good. (See my video review on Instagram(@bagelmavennyc) Cooked just right, lots of cream cheese and seasonings. Place was clean but the line was long and moving slowly. I'd definitely would go back if I was in the neighborhood. It would be my go to place if I lived nearby. I guess cause it was busy and working Xmas day, they weren't too happy(loss of star.)

Upper east side - Not friendly and pretty sure they use dye in their cream cheese and lox spread - it's way too pink and not very tasty.

They have a table to pickup preorders so you don't have to wait in the main line. I ordered a dozen for $39. You can select your assortment. Here's my review in order from the best to the least desirable, according to our group. Vanilla custard- the filling was thick and speckled with vanilla beans. It wasn't too sweet. This was the best according to our group. Strawberry filled- this is most traditional and Breads Bakery does a nice job. The jam is homemade. Pistachio- this doughnut was filled with smooth pistachio cream and was topped with a few pieces of pistachio. Not traditional, but they did a good job. Chocolate- the filling tasted like a semisweet or bittersweet cream/custard. Like the others, it was smooth. The vanilla was more popular among our group and I personally didn't love this doughnut. Mango- this was the one that those in my group felt missed the mark. It wasn't cloyingly sweet, so that was good, but the filling didn't do anything for us either. If you're looking for a mango dessert the one at Lysée is a real winner.

When I moved to the UES, I was worried finding a new local roaster. I've had bad experiences where the beans are too oily or something is off that messes with my usually grind size/extraction time. No issues with Oslo's beans. 2. They actually know how to make a proper americano. Every coffee shop takes a standard cup, puts in the espresso shot, and then fills hot water to the brim of the cup. This destroys the flavor of the espresso. You end up with hot water that tastes slightly like coffee. Oslo chooses quality over quantity. They don't fill the water up to the brim, so you have a cup with 2/3 of liquid; however, this is a proper americano. You can taste the difference. At other shops, I just get drip coffee because they don't know what they're doing. Oslo knows what they're doing. That's why I come here.

We were a little late for our reservation, and they gave our table away, which was quite annoying. However, the service, hospitality, and food more than made up for it. Someone came over to apologize for the mix up and offered us complimentary white wine while we waited for another table to open up. The wine was delicious! When we were finally seated, we started with some drinks. I got the Speranza, and it was light, fresh, and delicious! We were pleasantly surprised by the complimentary bread basket brought to the table, as it's a rarity in nyc these days. We split a burrata amongst the table. Loved the addition of figs. I ordered the rigatoni all'aragosta for my dish, which was beautifully presented and tasted even better than it looked. There was a decent portion of lobster in the dish, and I couldn't even finish all of it, I was so full. One of the best pasta dishes I've had in a while. My friends ordered the bolognese and the fettuccine alla nerano, and they enjoyed their dishes as well! We skipped dessert this time, but I would definitely be back for it. I also want to try the paccheri next time, as well as their coffee shop in the mornings! Overall, a well executed restaurant with great ambience (would be great for a date night with the dim lighting and ability to hear each other speak). They just need to get a bigger dining room so they can seat more parties because they always seem to be booked full!

The pasta was good. Reasonable amount of pasta but we would have liked some more chunks of lobster for the price. I thought the sauce was only ok but my girlfriend liked it. The guazzetto di Pesci was only fair. The sauce was lacking flavor. Also a very small bowl of broth with maybe 3 small shrimp and muscles, a few small chunks of fish. and two sad, tiny pieces of bread on the side. Since we were still quite hungry after the meal, we ordered the lotus chocolate caramel dessert. This was the only dish we really liked. kinda hard to mess up gelato though. It came with a hard outer candy shell and a very small cookie center that was sweet and delicious. Overall, an average meal at best that we both felt was lacking in taste and size. Won't return.
