Good food but very expensive for what you get. The gyoza was delicious. Out of the two rolls I got I really loved one over the other. The eel avocado roll was much more flavorful than the red roll. And cheaper too! Instead of 10/12 pieces in a roll, you only get 6!!! So I paid 10$ and 15$ for two six piece rolls... not very affordable. The sauces were great too, but I recommend going here on rare occasions. Maybe when you are feeling like splurging. read more

I ordered delivery from YELP delivery - so good. Ordered a lot of food, but it was all great and I was able to share it. Everything was tasty and they included enough soy sauce which is aways a plus. I came here for a birthday dinner for my friend recently with no idea what to expect and I really really really enjoyed my sushi meal! It's an interesting ambience with fancy white leather chairs but it is located in a shopping center, the water is served in large glasses automatically with lemon, and it's not really decorated. The sushi bar sits in the back and you can sit right next to it if you like. The menu is quite extensive although the alcohol is pretty generic. I chose a Yeungling because I wanted a beer with my sushi but they did have a few Asian beers. Immediately they asked the group if there were any dietary restrictions which I felt was considerate. My friend said she was vegan and they were happy to accommodate. Like most sushi restaurants do, they provide you with a pen and paper to check off the rolls you want, but you don't have to use that. They have so many special dinner deals that I couldn't pass up ordering the Maki Dinner at 18.95 which included a salad, miso soup, a spicy tuna roll, a California roll, and a choice of specialty roll. That's a lot of food! It came and it was delicious! I went with the Bubba Roll which was the star of the show; it consisted of apples, green leaf, Japanese mayo and shrimp tempura. It was a hard choice because they had so many specialty rolls to choose from but I loved it. I would definitely come back here if I lived in the area. This use to be one of our favorite restaurants when it first opened. It is no longer. Our last visit I had to convince the host to seat us at a slightly larger open table instead of waiting for a smaller table. Half the tables were empty. The rice was dry. The fish was dry and not fresh. The chicken tasted like it was tenderized in baking soda and a had rubbery texture. The sauce was overly salty. Once seated the service was good. The best thing going for this place is the ambiance as it is beautiful, quiet, and romantic. No plans to return. read more

I went to Koshi with a group of seven people. We ordered drinks, appetizers and stayed for about 2 hours. The service was great and very patient with us as were pretty chatty and preoccupied with our conversations. The drinks were perfect - from martinis to saki and some mixed drinks too. Our appetizers were great. No other way to describe it. We all ordered various sushi, sashimi, nigiri, and noodles. We customized a few rolls without issue (I like jalapeño in yellowtail roll and they accommodated). It was the best sushi I've had in a long time. It was a lovely evening, great environment, and superb food and drinks. read more

I've been several times, will be back for more. Food is fantastic. Staff is eucalyptus. Sushi can be hard, this staff makes it easy for the novices. If you like sushi, or beer, you need to cl in. They have all your traditional rolls, sashimi, and nigiri. Fish is fresh and often local. Flavors are subtle and well mixed. Even the spicy tuna, which at most places is bland, is on point. For your best dishes, order the daily specials, they rotate. Specials are often comprised of top end fish, fresh that day. They cost a little more, but you can taste the difference. If you don't want to pay the extra few bucks, no worries, the menu items are spectacular. The beer list, while still being worked out is unique. They're loaded up with "craft" Japanese beers. Most Norfolk sushi places only offer Sapporo. Craft beer can be overwhelming, but just ask, tell the server what you like, and they'll recommend something similar. Take a chance, beer a little! read more

We tried the Alligator, BTS, Caterpillar, Rock N' Roll, and Spider roll. Were they tasty? Yes! However, for $12-17 rolls I expect them to be a bit larger, more full of ingredients and for the rice to stick together better. The house sauce (eel sauce) wasn't impressive. I did enjoy the Korean Chili Sauce on the BTS. It adds just a bit of heat and tastes like an Asian twist on buffalo sauce! The lime garlic edamame was fun because we've never seen that anywhere else! It adds a little bite to it, but we both agreed we prefer just garlic or salted edamame. We did enjoy the rolls, but we'll keep searching for a go-to sushi place. read more

I am so excited to have a Korean place with good sushi in my 'hood!!! I had hot tea and they have genmaicha (green tea with toasted brown rice) which is my absolute favorite. For a refill they did just fill up the same tea leaves with hot water, but that's just a small thing. I had a 3-item bento with bulgogi, nigiri, and spicy salmon roll. The fish was sooo fresh! I want to go back and try more sushi. I don't recommend the bibimpbap... it's very Americanized and overpriced. Stick with the poke bowls, sushi, and sushi appetizers! read more

This is the first place I've got to give 5 stars to because they completely deserve it. We walked in because we notice the balloons and figured.. why not? And we're greeted very nicely and seated promptly. Hot towels came to our table to clean our hands (huge plus since we did just leave sweet frogs with 2 kiddos). My husband and I agreed to order a roll just to "check it out" ended up seeing Poké bowl on the menu so I figure "why the heck not!?" ... THE BEST POKÉ BOWL. I make my own, Ive gone to 757 Poké, I've had them at Zeke's.. and this was very high in my ratings. For $9.95 I basically got all I wanted in it.. avocado, huge portion of tuna, rice, salad mix, scallions, pickled cucumber and masago. A big plus for next time would be to add edemame and some ginger! This will be our spot! No more driving to the ends of the earth to find some awesome grade A Sushi! read more

This is officially my boyfriend and my new go-to in Norfolk for sushi. This restaurant is brand new to the area and it does not disappoint. They start your meal off with hot towels which is always lovely. The service is good and the sushi chef even stopped over to ask about our meal which was nice. Now for the food- We asked about the salmon belly special and were given the fatty sampler which wasn't on the menu but it was amazing. There were three thick pieces of salmon belly, four pieces of yellowtail, and a salmon belly roll all of which were delicious. We also ordered the salmon lover, tuna lover, and sunburst roll. All three were prepared well and full of fish which we love. The tuna roll had a nice kick with the Korean chili sauce. We also had the tuna tataki which was very good and fresh. The garlic lime edamame was an interesting twist. Our friends also ordered the bulgogi and it was cooked well and was full of flavor. Will 100% be back here again. Our bill was about $90 for 3 apps, 3 rolls, and the kitchen entree which came with a soup and salad. Very well priced! read more

Cute little sushi bar close to downtown Norfolk. The customer service was phenomenal, I really enjoyed the hot hand towels they provided upon being seated. The sushi is decently priced, tasted great, and looked amazing! I highly recommend the fire salmon roll and the Las Vegas roll. I'll have to come back and try the poke bowl! read more

Best, best, best sushi in Norfolk! The plates are gorgeous, the staff is knowledgeable, efficient and kind, and the ambience is lovely. I highly recommend getting the "dinner for two" option. You essentially get five courses (soup, salad, apps, entree rolls, dessert) and the price is perfect. I can't wait to go back! read more

I've easily spent over $600+ in sushi for the past few months on sushi dates at Koshi. This sushi restaurant consistently pleases me and my girlfriend with their fresh sushi because I refuse to ruin her tastebuds with cheap all you can eat sushi. I love their uni and I love stepping out of my comfort zone at this restaurant by trying out new sushi and old favorites. The service here is equally as great as their food. read more

This place is thrash. Katsu don was horrible it didn't even look like the dish when it was served. I asked the waitress to hat it was and she couldn't even answer me. Go else where. Don't be suckered into this so called Japanese restaurant. Service sucked the food delivery was very slow. Timed it and it took 30 minutes for a temporary roll. Save you're time and money. read more

Late check in from dinner the other night. I wanted to do the check-in because this place is one of the best sushi places I've ever eaten at. 1. Get the fire salmon belly. It's amazing, and it's on fire. The taste of the salmon with some fresh avocado and wasabi on top and the lemon underneath is amazing. 2. I usually get the Charlie Brown, and it's an awesome roll. This time I got the foxy roll, and it too was amazing. I think it's my favorite roll there now. Reading it on the menu makes you think it may be hot. But the combination with an apple purée removes most of the heat and just gives it an amazing variety of flavors in one bite. 3. There are generally two things that make a sushi place for me. One is the quality of the fish, and the other is the rice. They're both top notch here. If this place was in Vegas you'd be walking out with a massive bill and a happy stomach. However it's not, and you get reasonably priced amazing sushi right here in norfolk. TLDR: best sushi I've had in norfolk. If you like sushi, it's a must go. read more

I was really looking forward to trying this place, unfortunately this time didn't live up to the expectation. I ordered on Yelp. The delivery was late, 20 minutes or more. I ordered chirashi, and miso soup. The miso soup was so good!!! The chirashi was so underrated....and worse, warm. Rice was seasoned well, seaweed salad and veggies good. But the fish was warm, making it hard to enjoy. read more

This place used to be better but it has continually gone down. The biggest problem I have with it is that the sushi (nigiri or sashimi) is just average and not that fresh but their prices are very very high. In most sushi places in big cities where there are lots of competition a two piece nigiri like yellow tail is $4.50-$5.00. This place one piece costs $4.50. So it's double the price of some of the best sushi places in DC. I would have been ok paying that much if the fish was fresh but it's not. Most people go there for the rolls. If you only eat rolls you never know how fresh the fish is. It's mixed with a lot of things and usually topped with a sauce. The way to know how fresh the fish is by ordering nigiri or sashimi. I will never go back to this place. Might as well go to an all you can eat place. The quality is the same. read more

This restaurant is dressed up with a modern/ Japanese feel.we had an assortment of foods and I can say they were all very tasty. The only complaint I would have is the mix up of servers at the beginning when we first sat down and the service was extremely slow. It took forever to get our drinks, food and after 22 minutes of waiting for our waiter to get our check we got up and hunted our server down. That was disappointing because the restaurant only had a few tables that were occupied. read more

AMAZING! Sushi is my absolute favorite food and I have to say I think this is my new favorite spot! I got the Bento box lunch special with spicy tuna roll and Volcano roll and it comes with salad and soup. Everything was excellent! Super fresh fish- I'm very impressed. Definitely good quality sushi in the Norfolk area and worth trying. Food: we got the chirashi bowl, a spicy tuna roll, and a shrimp tempura roll to share. We were pleasantly surprised to be brought two house salads and two miso soups to start, and both were great. The dressing was flavorful with mild waves of ginger, but not the best I've had, and the pieces of lettuce were gigantic (which isn't necessarily bad, but just difficult to eat neatly). Nothing bad to say about the soup - it was wonderful. Chirashi: I wished there was more rice and the pieces of sashimi were thicker, but there was a nice variety of fish, and they all tasted very fresh. Shrimp tempura roll was very good. Spicy tuna roll had a good texture, but not the best I've had. Other things: You cannot help but notice how clean the restaurant is. I thought it had just opened up because of how new and pristine the floors and tables were. Service was very reasonable and prices are about what you'd expect at such a Japanese restaurant. read more

Koshi is a smaller Japanese/Korean restaurant that offers fresh sushi and poke bowls with Korean Entrees. My favorite was the Salmon Lover Roll, absolutely delish, had everything I love in one roll. Great if you love cream cheese. My boyfriend ordered a Poke bowl with both salmon and Tuna, portions were decent. You get what you pay for $9. I would suggest getting a soup/salad/app so that your guaranteed fulness. Overall nice quiet spot and great servers, will come back to try their Dinner for Two!! read more

This review is specifically about the poke bowl. I've never tried their sushi, but of all the poke bowls I have tried in Hampton Roads, Koshi is a clear winner. The fish and all of the ingredients are very fresh. I typically get salmon on rice with all the toppings sans edamame, spicy mayo, and ponzu sauce on the side. That last addition was recommended by their staff and it is a great way to enhance an already-awesome poke bowl. The crispy lotus root is a also nice touch that enhances both the aesthetic and texture. Minus one star for not having brown rice as a base option, but everything else is terrific! If you're looking for poke, don't waste your money elsewhere-- this is definitely the place for it. read more

I cannot give Koshi enough stars!!! They are the sweetest people. The sushi chef even went out of his way to get me my CC after I stupidly left it ‍ I get their take out at least 4x a week! Yep. It's that good. I've been to every sushi place in the Norfolk Ghent area and none top this place! the salmon quality is top notch and the sushi rice is perfect (never too dry).
