Delicious! I came here on a recommendation and I did not regret it--I liked it so much I went twice in one week! The first day I ordered the spicy rice cakes with seafood--my only complaint is that it didn't come with kimchi sides or rice. The rice cakes were tender and not overly chewy and they did not skimp on the seafood. My son ordered the bulgogi lunch box--it was an excellent deal! The lunchbox comes with several kimchi sides, Miso soup, fried dumplings, and kimbap--I tried all of the kimchi sides and they were fresh and well seasoned. Unfortunately they do sell bulgogi for dinner, however our server offered us a two person bulgogi deal for $25. The bulgogi meal for two included: miso soup, fried dumplings, five varieties of kimchi, Korean style potato salad, vegetarian chap chae, steamed rice, bulgogi, and a choice between sweet and sour pork or chicken. It was phenomenal--everything was well seasoned. One of the upsides is if you like kimchi, they will happily refill your side dishes. The radish kimchi is a standout--it's sweet, tart, crunchy, and refreshing! I live in Florida, so the chances of me returning to Koreana are slim to none, but if I do ever come back to Columbus I'll definitely stop by! read more

I was stationed in Korea for 3 years, and loved the food when I was there. I ordered kalbitang and it was amazing. I literally felt like I was in Korea again. Everything about this restaurant was great from the service to the food. It is a little pricey but not ridiculous. If you have a hangover go eat their soup and it will make you feel better. Coming from metro DC we were spoiled with delicious Korean BBQ.. Koreana is definitely a competitor! The restaurant was semi busy the night we went with a birthday party spanning almost all of the restaurant. The waitresses were friendly and prompt and spoke english well. I would like to start this review by saying that I am from California and my husband has been based in Korea. We both have eaten some of the best Korean food there is to eat. Koreana is not the most appealing (shiny) looking place to dine but it is clean and the food is good. The food is dang good and the service is exceptionally great. I would rather skip a fancy, crowd favorite place to eat, similar to what I would see in California and go to this restaurant in Columbus, GA. I ordered japchae and my husband ordered the bulgogi and pork belly. I was MAJOR excited to be able to enjoy Japchae as it is made with sweet potato noodles. As a celiac, I can eat as much of this dish as I want and not be hurting. The meat was cooked on the bbq table in front of us. OMGeee the pork belly and the sauces are TO DIE FOR. The bulgogi was tasty also. Our server was very polite and joked about the fact that it was raining super hard and there were no customers inside, but all of the customers were calling on the phone to make orders. The waitress here said that this is the best Korean place in Columbus. Of course she would say that. She works there. Because this was the only Korean place in Columbus, GA I've been to, I'll believe her. This is a catch-all Korean restaurant. They have a ton of stuff on their menu. They have your standard Korean entrees ranging from your various stews, soups, and rice dishes. They also have Korean BBQ. When you come in, you can choose to sit at the Korean BBQ section, which has a grill, or at a normal table. I chose the Korean BBQ section. Their grill looks pretty cool. It's propane, not charcoal. They light up the sides and put the grill on top of it. I never seen anything like it. They also have an industrial fan on top to suck up all the smoke. It was nicely ventilated. I tried their Short Ribs and their Bulgogi. Their short ribs were very tough. I'm not sure if they're buying low-quality meats or something, but I never had short ribs that tough. Their bulgogi was nice. It had good flavor from the marinade and tasted good. The banchans were your standard banchans. They brought various pickled vegetables. Their kimchee was the fermented kind, not the freshly pickled kind. I liked that. The BBQ comes with lettuce ssam, rice, and doenjang jjigae. But the doenjang jjigae didn't come out automatically, I had to ask for it. So if you don't get one, just ask for it. If they feel nice enough, they'll make it for you. Their ssams was just lettuce. This seems like an old-school place. There is no other ssams available like dduk, daikon, or even perilla leaf. It's just your good, old fashioned lettuce. They even grill the garlic for you. Usually, I just grill it myself. But the waitress seemed hip enough to know that most Koreans grill the garlic on the grill. So she did it for us. How nice of her. It's too bad I never tried their other dishes. By Atlanta standards, it seems like your average Korean restaurant. Maybe by Columbus, GA standard, maybe it's one of the best ones, like the waitress said. I liked the service and the food satisfied me. I'll give it 4 stars. read more

Koreana is our favorite Korean/Korean BBQ in town. Before I even get into the food..let's talk service. They are outstanding here! We always come as our little family--hubby, me and our toddler. Probably once every 2-3 months. After our second trip, they've remembered us every subsequent time. As in.. they remember what beer we like, what banchan we like the best, what Korean bbq plate we order. It's really touching and sweet actually. You are literally NEVER in danger of running low on anything on your table ever either. Their BBQ is spot on too. I'm a bit of a Korean BBQ snob after living in the Pacific NW where it is hugely popular and Koreana easily holds their own. Portions are very generous, meat is impeccably fresh and rice is always perfectly sticky and fragrant. Their sauces are wonderful as well and the lettuce with our meals has always been crispy and clean. We've never been able to finish a full meal because we get so much food! In response to Daniel's post....sure, you can go to Atlanta and get better Korean food--you can even go to KOREA and get better Korean food. You can even make it yourself. But, that would kind of defeat the purpose of finding a decent Korean Restaurant here in Columbus. I'm half Korean and I've tried three other Korean restaurants here and this is definitely the best out of the three. The soups and kimchi don't have that prepackaged taste to them like the other places do. I even went to one other restaurant and could tell that they used microwavable rice. It is a little bit pricier than some restaurants, but in a town like Columbus you get what you pay for in terms of authenticity and quality of ingredients. Koreana is def the best of all of the other Korean restaurants here in Columbus. Golden Chopsticks would rank second and the other 2 restaurants aren't worth it at all. read more

Update: Came back for seconds last week and did not regret it at all. The restaurant had a decent amount of customers and many of them were ethnic Korean - which is a great and very encouraging sign. Brought my overly hyper-critical-asian-dad with us and for once he didn't complain about the food. I came to Columbus for my son's graduation from basic. We are Asians and he has been without Korean food for far too long so I checked Yelp and decided Koreana was the place to go! They did not disappoint! My son didn't want to eat too much just in case he had to do push-ups when they all got back for the day so we ordered light. We shared the bibimbap and jaeyuk bokkum. It was the perfect amount of food since he ate 3/4 and I ate 1/4! This young man can eat!! The meal was delicious! The only reason for the 4 stars is because the 3 out of the six banchans were very bland (broccoli, bean sprouts, fish cake) and the radish kimchi had too much vinegar. Also it was really dark inside. Whenever someone walked into the restaurant the sunlight was so bright that we would get blinded for a minute while our eyes adjusted again. read more

If I could change one thing it would be for them to have a noodle sampler platter so you could try a few in one visit to see what you like. read more

A group of us came here for a late-ish dinner (around 8 PM) and I can sum up the experience in two words: No. Rice. WHAT? How do you run out of rice at a Korean restaurant? Right away, more than half the menu became off-limits for our party. No kimbap, no bokeumbap, no soothing rice side dishes for any of the spicy jjigaes. I may be spoiled by frequenting late-night Korean joints in my neighborhood, but I really don't care if it's close to closing and you feel that you can stop cooking certain things, especially if those "things" you stop cooking are staples of your cuisine. Imagine if an Italian restaurant told their customers they ran out of pasta for the night, so they couldn't order any pasta dishes. It's unthinkable. The food we ended up getting was okay; standard tasting kalbi, some noodles, mandoo, nothing too exceptional. Decent banchan too. But my dinner was adversely affected by the ridiculous limits that the restaurant set on us. It kills me to speak ill of a Korean restaurant in a town where there are so very few, but I happened to have a less-than-stellar experience here. My warning to all of you: get here before they "run out of rice" for the night. Or take the trip up to the Korean community of Duluth, GA for more choices and variety. read more

Service was very good, but the food was not worth the price for me. Most everything was bland and underseasoned. Seafood pancake - bland, didn't come with the dipping sauce, and wasn't crisped up enough Dumplings - also bland, are made in restaurant but didn't taste like anything special. :( Bulgogi - Not the best I've ever had, but was still tasty. I appreciated that they cooked it perfectly on the grill Surprisingly the banchan (side dishes) were the highlight of the entire meal. The fishcakes were delicious, as were the seasoned cucumbers. One of the best Korean restaurants I've been to. It's nice and clean, the service is great, and when we were eating there they gave us free miso soup as a service. We ordered the samgyupsal and it was soooo good. They gave us plenty of meat, also plenty of garlic and jalapenos to grill, neat and plentiful banchan for us to eat and lots of lettuce for the meat. The refill on the water was quick and when we asked for more bowls they were again prompt in getting them for us. All the food they had was very authentic and if you really want to eat some real Korean food this would be the place to come to. 5 stars all the way! read more

I had the same issues as Taylor. Due to having a set limit for the amount of money I can spend, my friend and I were trying to share one entree item or lunchbox. I was hoping to get a side and appetizer, too. However we were told that we are required to have one entree each for lunch! I even offered to take an entree to go to make it easier for them and when they heard that they wanted to take away one of our waters. The service was friendly, helpful, and efficient. The atmosphere was clean, quiet, and relaxed. The pricing was fair and the food was worth every penny. There was a lot of food for the money and no one in my party was disappointed. We were not rushed and enjoyed a relaxed meal with good food and good conversation. I've eaten at a lot of KBBQ places and this one wasn't too bad. I was hoping for more exotic ingredients like beef/pork intestines, but they didn't have any. They're pretty generous with their servings. I recommend getting the Bibimbap if you're a solo diner. If you're hungry for meat, I recommend the bulgogi or kalbi. I like how I got to be the one to cook my food so I can cook it to my preference, but you can always have your food made by the chef in the back like a normal restaurant. The atmosphere isn't that great. Not much privacy as it is a small area, but you'll be too concentrated on your food to realize this small issue. My family and I were traveling from out of town and were looking for Korean BBQ around the Columbus area. After a little research we decided on Koreana, and we were thoroughly impressed. The service was amazing and quick. The food was delicious and fresh. It was an amazing Korean BBQ experience. Although my family and I would have preferred to cook ourselves, since only two of us had experienced the full Korean BBQ process, it was very convenient and worry free having our waitress cook our meal. The bulgogi and the traditional steamed dumplings were delicious and were the favorites of the night, although many of the banchan were big hits as well. I was pleasantly surprised to find authentic tasting korean food in Columbus! Love their bento lunch plate!

We stopped by for dinner as this restaurant was fairly close to our hotel. We tried the kimchee chigae and the jaeyookbokkeum, sliced pork and veggies in a spicy sauce. They don't offer barley tea here, which comes with dinner at many Korean restaurants, so that was disappointing. The menu is beef heavy. Ban chan hit the table first, and these were decent if not exciting. The kimchee chigae, that wonderful bubbling pot of spicy soup, was the better of the two things we ordered. Again, not the best I've had, but enjoyable. The pork was tasty and spicy, but had too much oil at the bottom of the plate. Otherwise, good flavors. This space could benefit from a deep cleaning and some updating; it is dingy and depressing, with old carpet that has a gross out factor for me. I'm reviewing the food, however, and that was good, but not great. read more
