The underlying…read moreBelt Supergroup layer of crust was the result of the despoition of quartzites, mudstones, and shale from when the area was an ancient sea floor. Next, tectonic forces caused there to be a folding action where the crust compressed up against a different tectonic plate as they were headed in opposite directions. The Kootenai River exposed the hard rocks of this Belt Supergroup including the tectonic folds and faults that now resulted in the "steps" over which the river flowed. Such violent geologic forces ultimately would give rise to the rugged Rocky Mountains that dominated the Continental Divide. This would separate the ancient seas of the west and the Great Plains to the east. The Kootenai Falls bridge was initially built in 1937 to help the US Forest Service access forest fires on the other side of the Kootenai River, but a major flood destroyed it in 1948. The bridge was rebuilt in the 1950s, and with the creation of the Libby Dam, and was protected from flooding. This particular bridge I believe was rebuilt in 2019. The best thing about it? Not many people know it's there. Worth your time to visit.

The drive up is long and the road is narrow but their is a pretty good sized parking lot once you reach the top. The path seems to be very well maintained and it's an easy hike. I suggest going in the spring because all of the creeks are flowing strong and the sounds and smell mixed with the giant cedars is just amazing, but you should for sure come back in the summer as well while the creeks may not be flowing it is still stunning and people stack stones in the creek bed it really is a sight to see!

Definitely not for someone who doesn't exercise, is mostly sedentary, doesn't enjoy exertion etc. When you get to the rocky area near the top you may briefly despair thinking there's not a trail, and you're just going to be hopping over rocks. There is indeed a trail you just have to look for it. Great views at several points along the trail and the summit is nothing short of spectacular.

One of the steepest hikes in Northern Idaho, and well worth it!…read more Scotchman sits very close to the Montana border. To get to it, you have to make a confusing set of turns down forest roads. As far as mileage, this trail isn't very long, but it's uphill the entire time and there aren't many switchbacks. Once you hit the scree fields, you're close to the summit. There is a family of Mountain Goats that chill up there and you are almost guaranteed to see them!

Everybody that works there is very kind and friendly. The selection is as eclectic as you can imagine. Many of the clothing items still have the tags on them! They rotate through their stock very quickly, mostly because their items are priced well. It is an excellent source for children's clothing, many look like they have never been worn! I have noticed that they are starting to price a little higher than in the past but, inflation is everywhere!! Defiantly worth your time to stop in while in town. I dare you to leave with nothing ~ it is very hard to do. Don't pass up their dollar and the clearance racks, you would be surprised what you might find. Each time I visit, there are noticeable upgrades in the store. They continually evolve, making improvements and changes that make the shopping experience better. It is obvious that their family members are involved which truly makes it a family affair store, well worth supporting!

I have been impressed with them since the first time I have been in their store. They are constantly making improvements within the store and quality of items they are selling. It may not have all the equipment that larger gyms have…read more(although the freeweight section is decent, there aren't that many weight machines which aren't freeweight), and it certainly doesn't have courts (so no basketball, tennis, badminton--although there is a pingpong table which can be used if there isn't a massage in session), but they are very good about issuing daily passes or temporary (monthly) membership passes at affordable prices, which makes it possible for someone who is just visiting to continue exercising. I think it was around 6 or 7 dollars for a daily pass, and something like $60 per month for a couple. It's usually not too crowded, and there are plenty cardio machines such as bicycles, nordic track, rowing, and treadmills.

They take feedback and are happy to supplement/design classes to meet your requests if you let them know what you want to work on/if you have an injury/etc. I've only done group classes but Studio B offers private sessions and has a sauna as well. The facility is nice. There are two bathrooms both with showers, a typical "studio" room with wooden floors, mirrors, and a barre, a large "gym" area where the weights and bikes are used, and a couple of private rooms. They offer free tours so you can check it out. They keep the outside and the inside well maintained. I've always been really self conscious about working out around others and therefore avoided group classes (and the gym in general). But for 2020 I decided to be brave and give Studio B a try. I started out doing just yoga and Pilates my first couple months but have now also tried cycling, TRX, weight training, and circuit classes. I've enjoyed all of them. All of the other patrons are really friendly and encouraging and that has made a big difference to me. I look forward to seeing the people who regularly attend the same classes as me. I've been going to Studio B regularly for about 6 months and am in the best shape I've personally ever been in. My mental health, energy, and of course strength/endurance/etc. have all improved. I went from anxiously and with some dread attending my first several classes to truly enjoying working out. And I also reeeeally enjoy going to the bakery right across the street after a morning class. What can I say, just trying to live my best life! I do wish Studio B offered more hot yoga classes, and that the yoga classes in general were more meditative/spiritually based. I just think when yoga is treated primarily as a means of fitness, you miss out on most of its value. All the other classes are available if you just want the fitness aspect. At first I balked at the price of classes at Studio B and that memberships are a revolving 3 month commitment but, the latter I just got over and the former actually isn't so bad. If you do a 13 classes a month membership, that's $7.62/class is which less than 2 16 oz frappe mochas plus tip. If I'll happily pay that for 2 days of coffee, I can pay it for a fitness class. Right now I have the unlimited membership and am doing about 24 classes a month, which comes out to $4.95/class. That's reeeally affordable (please don't raise your rates because of this haha). If you don't want to do a membership, they also offer punch passes. Studio B has an intro offer for Libby residents of one week of unlimited classes for $20. It's a great way to try out different classes, see what you like, and get to know the studio.
