Someone on Schweitzer recommended I stop by the Alpine Shop and I'm so glad I did (side note: we were heading into town anyway or we would've just gone to the Alpine Shop location on the mountain). Susan in the retail department was absolutely wonderful and immediately set me up with Zach, the owner, on the equipment side. He was incredibly professional, attentive, and clearly knows his stuff. He asked thoughtful, detailed questions to really understand what was going on with my boots. Then he warmed them up and had me wear toe caps to stretch out the liners. While we waited, he even did a full assessment of my bindings and straps. Their attention to detail and genuine desire to help made such a difference. Totally rude guy running the shop in there. Walked in needing to check and replace disc brake…read morepads. When I told him the make and model he snapped back that that doesn't tell him shit and he needed to actually see the pad. Ok...so I go get the bike and from there he argues with me about who is planning on pulling the pin and pulling out the pads to see if they are fully worn or not. Pulling the pads out takes literally 10 seconds to do but he won't do it without charging me for it and when I ask if I can use some plyers to do it myself he tells me "there's no way you are doing that"... I was just trying to check the pads to see if I needed to buy new ones from the guy! He finally told me to go to another bike shop that would help people like me... Thanks buddy. I got the cutest little beach cruiser for my summer in Sandpoint...a walmart special...I rode it…read moretwice, and got a flat tire. This bicycle was cute for sure! But it was not adjusted properly for my height. It squealed and squeaked. The front brake barely worked and now...the tire was flat! The nice people at Dover Joe and Roll told me about Sports Plus...so I dropped my bike off citing a flat tire...I was promised my bicycle in an hour and I took myself to lunch. When I returned, imagine my delight when not only was the tire fixed, but so was the brake I had forgotten to mention...and the squeaks were gone! When I rode it next, I was shocked to find my seat had been adjusted to the perfect height! How did he even know?! Eyeballing me standing next to it is all I can figure. These people do an excellent thorough job... and they certainly know bicycles. I'm impressed!

Im a caregiver for individuals with intellectual disabilities through a company called ResCare. We…read morehave been taking our clients bikes here to get fixed but this last time we ran into a problem. I dropped off the bike to get the brakes fixed over a week ago. When I dropped the bike off I made sure to explain to them that I needed to pay for the bike up front due to having to use the company credit card and it takes a process to get the credit card back. They agreed and the bike repair was paid for. Fast forward a week and the bike was still not fixed when it was suppose to. Well today we went to pick up the bike since we called and they said it was ready for pickup over the phone. When we got there they said they ran into some other problems which needed to be fixed and that there was a balance of $16 dollars (did not mention this over the phone). I asked them if they would allow my client to take the bike home today and that I would be back tomorrow with the company card to pay the difference. They said no. I tried to explain to the lady that my client would have a behavior if he didn't get the bike because he was set on getting the bike today. To any other person waiting an extra day to get the bike would be fine but to someone with an intellectual disability telling them to wait another day when they are looking at the bike and see that it is fixed just leads to behaviors. She still didn't allow it my client left the store angry and shouting. Will no longer go here to get our clients bikes repaired.
