Hands down the worst restaurant I've been to in a very long time--food and service. When we arrived, there were two other tables seated (Thursday evening). Multiple staff members. Once we were seated, It took 20 minutes for our order to be taken. Another 20 min for the food to arrive (which wasn't much) and my order was wrong. The waitress looked at me, shrugged her shoulders and said "sorry". I sent it back and it took another 20 min for something to come out, after my family finished their dinner. When the check arrived, they had charged us twice for my meal, but a credit for one of them. The waitress said "oh I talked to the manager and was able to get your second order taken off the bill". I shouldn't have needed a second order if the first one was right...she acted like she did us a favor which was honestly quite annoying. As for the food, our daughter enjoyed the sashimi, but my food and my husbands was awful. My husband ordered the bulgogi and it tasted as if corn syrup was poured all over it. My dish also had a corn syrupy sauce on it which was wretched. The octopus was mediocre and lacked flavor. Needless to say, we won't be back. Don't waste your money--go elsewhere for sushi/Asian fusion. read more

Very disappointed in our visit this evening. We arrived around 7 and didn't get our food until almost 8:30. We waited almost 25 minutes to get any water and our waitress messed up our order and had not written anything down. When I went to the restroom I could see the wait staff hanging out in a side room instead of tending to customers. My food was lukewarm and it was obvious that it had been sitting out while someone I was with couldn't eat because his was so hot. We saw multiple tables come in after and leave before us. This place has been absolutely amazing!! We have been back twice now and each time was awesome. The atmosphere is classy but relaxed. Sushi is done so well and is very tasty. The last time I went, I got the Salmon Volcano sushi roll, and it was to die for! Other members of my party got the bimibap bowls which were also good. The miso soup is some of the best I've had. This place has the most delicious, fantastic, and well prepared sushi that I, or my father have ever had and he has traveled around the country for work and would always try some sushi while working. He says that Kooma is the best sushi he has ever had, along with the Rock Shrimp which i would highly recommend along with the Lettuce Wraps with chicken which are all delicious. Personally my favorite sushi rolls to get are the Manhattan rolls, California rolls, 007 rolls, and the Lotus roll. read more

Let's start with the food in this review. It was fantastic. We loved the fresh salads and rock shrimp tempura. We ordered a roll that was super freshing with strawberries on top and the 007 roll. Both were made with very fresh ingredients and really delicious. Lastly, I ordered a key like martini that was great. The atmosphere here is really fun. From the screen you walk in on to the lit up walls. A little bit like Pod in the city. Now let's get to the server that never told us his name. I called him Gary that night. Gary was in no rush the evening we were there. He took quite a while on our drinks. He forgot to order our app although blamed it on the kitchen ( Gary I know that trick I used to be a server). Our sushi then sat at the sushi bar for fifteen minutes just staring back at me. Gary was no where in sight the whole night otherwise I would have signaled him. (Rude idea but I was hungry). I love Kooma! Mainly because I love their stone pot bimpinbop. I ordered the chicken stone pot, my usual, and it was delicious. The drinks from the bar were wonderful too. My only feedback is that it might be helpful if they cut the chicken in the stone pot, a bit smaller. It's kinda hard to eat the long strips with chopsticks... at least for me anyway. read more

This place is a happening place. The ambiance and interior is awesome and cozy. The food was really good. Everything was flavor balanced and so fresh. My favorite dish was the udon. Celebrated my birthday here at Kooma!!! My favorite sushi place. Some of my favorites rock shrimp, fried dumplings, hung roll, firecracker roll, pink lady, beef pad Thai. Can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Most importantly my favorite drink is their Lychee Martini. The food and service was PHENOMENAL have to give a shout out to Sean the manager , Joe the bartender and Alicia our beautiful server for making this celebration memorable. read more

We try to remain loyal to this location because the sushi is good. Last night was the second time in 3 weeks we were there around 730 on a Saturday night and the service just continues to go downhill. They actually had an abundance of staff given how empty the restaurant was. It started with the manager seating our party of four at a table with three chairs ! She walked away so quickly that we decided to just seat ourselves at the empty table next to it. Hardly a warm greeting! The only people at the bar were employees. Yet, it took about 20 mins to get drinks, 1 drink was wrong so add another ten minutes for that one. Our tuna tartar appetizers sat on the sushi bar for 30 mins until we flagged the waiter to see if they were ours..... they were. We also had to flag him down for fresh plates, new drinks etc. the place was EMPTY and staff just congregated by the bar. We are very good patrons that continue to support our local restaurants. We are patient and generous, but for the money we spend here it's getting frustrating to continually have poor service and need to flag someone down for drinks, plates etc. Ithis place under new ownership? read more

Very Good! We had dinner at Kooma West Chester, PA last Thursday June 4, 2015 because I had a $100 gift card and I was around the neighborhood so I decided to eat there. It was totally unexpected. This place is so cool. I love the modern decor and lights. I think it looks better in the evening because of the lights. The TV on the floor right by the entrance was pretty neat. The presentation of the food was very good. My sashimi and sushi were delicious. We loved the Pad Thai we ordered. Price was a little high but not ridiculous. I loved the ambiance. Our waiter, James, was so personable, friendly and wonderful. He made our dinner fun. There was public parking in the next block so it was easy. There was a street festival in the neighborhood the evening we were there and we did not have a hard time parking. I give the bathroom a D because the wash basins looked like urinals that I thought I walked in the mens room as soon as I opened the door. They were poorly designed too because water spills out at you when you wash your hands. That's the only negative thing I have to say about the place. I ate at the Kooma in Wilmington, DE which is close to me but the decor of that branch is not as nice as the one in West Chester. I do not mind driving farther to West Chester because I know I'll be back to eat there again. read more

My wife and i went there to celebrate her birthday on a whim. What a fantastic find. Both of our servers were great. Quinn started us out but had to leave and Stephan did an excellent job filling in for Quinn. We had Goyza and Kooma short rib BBQ Buns, then we ordered StonePot Bibimbop and Bulgogi. Both were really good and today I wish I had some left over to snack on. The apps were perfectly sized and the main dishes were huge. The cocktails were also devilishly good. This restaurant made me feel safe, as the staff were visible doing a lot of cleaning as guests left the restaurant. I will return to this location in the future. It is located in a nice area with great food, great service, and a fantastic value in a clean environment. read more

Absolute favorite sushi spot. The dressing on the house salad is so good my boyfriend and I are always temped to lick our plates clean. (We do resist the urge however lol). The sushi is always fresh and the special rolls are all unique yet all amazing. My personal favorites include the wild summer roll and the 007 roll. The drink selection is vast and they are not skimpy with the alcohol in the drinks. Every server I've had has been friendly and caring. I'd recommend also going for lunch during the weekday! I have an allergy to gluten and was told by the staff 2 times that the soy sauce given to me was gluten free and that all the soy sauce in restaurant was gluten free. 10 minutes after I finished eating, the table next to me, who also had a gluten issue, received both regular soy sauce and gluten free soy sauce. The gluten free soy sauce was clearly marked with a rubber band around the bottle. I was sick for 2 days. When I called to speak with a manager and explained the situation so hopefully, it does not happen to someone else, she rudely told me the entire staff knew the difference between the soy sauces. Clearly, that is not true, I replied and she told me our waitress is new and still in training. No apologies just rudeness. I will not be going back. read more

Let me say food is always good at Kooma a bit on the pricey side. But you get what you pay for so I typically don't mind paying a bit more. I live 1 block away and although I wouldn't call myself a regular I find myself visiting back to back weeks when I have a hankering for some great Asian cuisine. BUT, I felt compelled to write a review. Please improve the service at the bar area and limit wait times. Shouldn't have to wait 10mins to be greeted and another 10mins to be asked if I want water. Love the food selection, quality, vibe and service! Have been 5 times with the whole family and everyone enjoys! We spend a lot here (hungry teenagers) but feel quality justifies price. We usually avoid places that mix different Asian foods because they tend to do one well but not the other. We have found Kooma to be the exception- great sushi AND great Korean dishes! read more

WHAT has happened to our favorite family gathering place in West Chester?  We have celebrated birthdays, graduations, and many special family moments and just a regular Friday night at Kooma for years.  But the quality, especially the service, and attention to the atmosphere has dropped off so considerably that now we feel like we need to find somewhere new like it appears the owners may have.   Has anyone seen how shiny and new the KOP Kooma is?   Why cant a light bulb get changed in West Chester?  Does it not frustrate anyone to see the same ornamental lighting fixtures with half the bulbs burnt out  for months and months/years on end or floor lighting that has been damaged and not repaired.  Please show the Dub-C location some love and shine up the inside.  Please fix the West Chester location and improve the service.  I never minded (much) dropping over $100 coin on a regular Friday night dinner because the food was outstanding the service on-point.   The service is no longer "on-point"  Hostesses that definitely do not greet with a smile or willingness to "host".  I am sure it is hard to find help these days but please train the servers you have to provide a high level of service to match what used be the norm and that match the price points of your establishment.  I want to come back...Please help me help you! read more

Sushi was delicious, location and the decor is really nice. With that being said, my only complain is the service. We took a little bit longer to order which by longer I mean maybe an extra 10 minutes. The server said that he's "swamped" just to make us rush. We were there early evening on a week night and there were only three tables in the entire place. After we ordered, he didn't bring the wine until 15 minutes later. Then he comes back and asks us what we ordered again. I would go back for the food and give this place another chance but if the service is still as unprofessional then I would have to find another place. read more

Both the sushi bar and bar are a good size. Took my wife and three kids out for her birthday. 7pm reservation on a Friday night. We arrive and the place is half full. They throw us in a cold back private room that I did not want to be in. I say something and the host just looks at me confused. We sit. The table is nasty dirty with food caked in-between tables. We order. Dumpling soup comes out and tastes like bath water. I send it back - which was an issue with the waiter and manager. The place fills in and it's so loud, we can't even speak to one another. Food takes over an hr to come out and was your average supermarket grade sushi. We couldn't take the noise anymore and left. Spent well over $100.00 for an unenjoyable evening, bad sushi and a simply horrible setting. Do not recommend! How many tables can a restaurant​ flip in one night? This place tries to find out. After hearing about Kooma through friends and associates for the last couple years I decided to give it a go for the FIRST time with my friends for Valentine's Day. What a mistake that was...we arrived promptly for our reservation at 7PM...and long story short we didn't get greeted by a server for the first 20 minutes. We didn't receive our WATERS until 30 minutes after we were seated, we didn't receive our Martinis and Beverages until 55 minutes after we were seated (at which point I complained to the owner of the restaurant). We received our appetizers after an hour of being seated at this restaurant...and FINALLY nearly after 1 hour and 30 minutes of waiting we received our entrees. I hate to spell out the words for this but BAD SERVICE definitely comes to mind. I understand it's Valentine's Day and it's busy but this was frankly beyond being "busy" this was just bad servce. I will mention that we received our beverages free of charge but to be perfectly honest I would never come back here. The service, the environment, and the food was not worth the effort or time. Tonight we ordered door dash from kooma around 5:45. It was immediately confirmed. We know that they don't use door dash drivers and that they use their own drivers so we can't see the status of where they are. An hour goes by so we called the restaurant just to get an update on the status of the order. No one answered the phone so we waited a minute and called again, yet no one answered AGAIN. Next we contacted door dash to see if they could help. They also tried calling the store and the door dash employee said that someone answered and then hung up when they said hello. He gave us the option to cancel the order so we did since we didn't know when/if the order would be delivered. About 15 minutes later an employee from kooma calls and asks about the order and says the driver is on the road. We said we didn't want it and already canceled. She put her manager on and she was argumentative and only cared about her sales. We told her we tried to contact multiple ways before we canceled. She just said "so what do you want the driver to do with your food then?" Sorry but we tried to reach out and do it the right way but you didn't answer the phone THREE times. Their food is delicious but please don't use door dash or any delivery through this restaurant. There was no apology or anything remotely good about the customer service. read more
