I'm very picky when it comes to my hair ! My boyfriend had his hair cut by Brenda here a few weeks ago (he's also extremely picky) and he loved it. Brenda seemed very experienced so I decided to ask her about hair color. She was very honest with me about what could and could not be done to my hair since I wanted to go from silver to brown (my hair had been bleached A LOT). Went in for cut/color. She cut it about 2 1/2 inches shorter than I asked. Cuts uneven in the back. My roots are a different color than my hair. Paid around $90 which isn't worth what I've got. 2 stars for them being really friendly. read more

I usually have Brenda do my hair these days, but Sami is great too! Brenda does a GREAT cut, and last time (today) we decided to try some funky colors. I was pretty open to anything, and she did a great job of figuring out something fun that would look great, and matches my complexion well! I have gone to this salon a handful of times, and usually gotten a decent haircut. The kind of place that just does EXACTLY what you say in my prior experiences. I even sent my sister and my cousin there for that reason, decent haircut, inexpensive, good for a quick trim or just to get some shape to your hair.... NOT THIS TiME. I saw Sammy, she had cut my hair a couple times before. Each time I had made it VERY clear that I didn't want to much legnth taken off. She remembered me when I sat down in her chair. She asked what I wanted, I told her to take about 3 inches off of the length, and to give me some side bangs to long layers down the sides, and just a few layers in the back so i wouldn't be cutting too much. I have pretty curly hair, and naturally, when its freshly cut, it becomes a little more curly, so I didn't really notice when I left the salon how TERRIBLE this haircut was/is. The bangs are completely uneven and start from the middle of my head, I can't find any layers anywhere and the best part....she cut about 8-9inches off of my length. To describe it, my hair was to my waist, and now its about 2 inches above my bra strap. So I basically have a curly mullet, it has no shape at all. I wear it in a bun for work, so I keep taking it down looking for any ryme or reason to this strange fluffy mess on my head....nothing! I am terribly sad at the way it looks, I've been crying everyday since it happened. I have had many haircuts in my life and quite a few that I wasn't happy with, but this is by far the ABSOLUTE WORST haircut I have ever had. I don't even want to try to style it, it looks so ridiculous. I went back to the shop to show the owner what happened, she wasn't there. I showed some of the other ladies working there, even they were puzzled by the way my hair looks. But said there must have been some miscommunication. I don't understand why 3inches is hard for a hairdresser to compute. At this point I have to wonder if I did something to offend her or upset her, it seems like it would have to be intentional to make someone look this bad. I litterally look like i let my 8 year old niece cut my hair! So the girls said that they would have Brenda call me, but I have yet to hear anything. Not really much she can do anyways, she can't put my hair back on. And it will be a very long time before I let ANYONE near my hair with scissors again! Needless to say, I will be wearing a bun for the next year or so until I figure out what to do with this mess. Just wanted to share so that this doesn't happen to anyone else. Advise to all, find a good hairdresser, who talks, listens, and cares about their work. And DONT ever trust a quick $20 haircut. I am completely devastated, I will NEVER again assume that just because someone is hairdresser, that they respect hair,nor know what their doing. Good luck. read more

This was my first experience going to a salon by myself and I know that I will definitely go back. I discovered this place on the Olaplex website, which is this miracle-working additive to your bleach or hair color that's all the rage right now because of its no-damage claims. I told Brenda that I had mild scalp psoriasis and was afraid of how it would react, and she recommended that I do some test strands before we actually got down to business. I could tell from the way that she spoke, she was very knowledgeable in her work, and I felt relieved that someone like her would be taking care of my hair. Needless to say, the test strands turned out more than fine and I set up my appointment to get my hair bleached and dyed blue. Brenda told me I would be there for about 5 or 6 hours and it would cost $165, but I knew what I wanted and already trusted her. She is a professional after all. On the day of, I had lots of time to meet the other stylists, watch how they treated their other clients, and really got a feel for the environment. The atmosphere is just so friendly and welcoming and I noticed their very close relationships with returning customers. When everything was done, I couldn't believe the final result. Brenda weaved sapphire and cobalt colors through my hair so that I had different shades of black and blue depending on the light. I couldn't stop gasping and laughing every time I moved my head. I received such high quality service, was treated so well by all the wonderful women there, and walked out the door with hair as healthy as when I first stepped in. I feel like I would have to pay over $200, maybe even more, to get the same result anywhere else. I can't recommend this salon enough. I know that I will return someday because I'm not sure if I want to trust anyone else with my hair hahaha! After being shut down by almost every hair salon and losing hope that I would not find one to help me and take me in I found Cool Cuts. I immediately called and they gave me my appointment the next day with Ms. Brenda. This was my first experience coming here and they made me feel so welcome, warm and special. I won't lie I was nervous when I sat down for my haircut I showed Ms. Brenda the pictures. She helped me understand, explained each step "sizes" of the haircut, and answered all my questions. She did an fantastic job at helping me out with my haircut and I'm in love with my new look. She was super duper kind, sweet, patient, gave me some tips on how to fix my hair and said if there was any problem with my haircut to come back and that she would fix it for me "Thank you, Thank you". OMG! Beware of new ownership!!! I have been going to Kool Cuts for years and loved having my hair cut by Lili. Apparently Lili sold the business 2 months ago, but I was willing to give the new owners a fair shake considering this is a convenient location for me and they are open 7 days a week. I met the new owner and had my hair cut by the other stylist. I asked for a trim for my long hair. I said I wanted about 1 inch to 1-1/2 inches cut off, which I also demonstrated this with my fingers. As she wet my hair and combed it into sections, I noticed she cut a large amount off of the bottom back. I questioned that that looked like alot more than 1 to 1-1/2 inches and the stylist replied that she was creating "long hair layers". She continued to cut around the front of the right side. It was hella short! I again mentioned this and she said I would probably have enough to put into a ponytail, since this is how I wear it. I said I sure as heck hoped so, as I have never had short hair in my 47 years. Now she had to make the left side match the right. When she was finished she kept wiggling the mirror behind me so I couldn't get a good look at the damage. She had the nerve to ask me if it was short enough. There was sure alot of hair on the ground for a 1 to 1-1/2 inch "trim". There was no use making a scene, as she couldnt put the hair back on. When I got home my friends were laughing and asking where my hair went. I am so PISSED! She cut 4 to 5 inches off !!! It will take over a year to grow my long hair back. I could have done a better and more accurate job with hedge shears behind my back. read more
