My husband took his car in, the parts they ordered would take weeks, so he picked up the car while waiting for parts. They never called him back letting him know parts arrived (even though they filed a claim with his insurance for the parts). Ageism rears its ugly head! Beware! Your car may be too old to work on... I need brakes on my 1995 Audi A6...I called and left a message asking for an appointment and promptly got a return call from Bill (seemed like a nice gentleman) but he informed me "your car is too old for Konstruct Performance." At first, I thought he was joking with me, (granted '95 was a long time ago) but apparently, he was serious. This is the first time I've ever been told by a mechanic that a car was too old to be worked on. Especially having never seen the vehicle. And all I was asking for was brakes...I would think this is a job they are more than capable of performing, regardless of the car being "old" Ageism is alive and thriving at your local repair shops folks! One star review only because it's prompting me for a rating, but to be fair I didn't even get the chance to experience Konstruct's performance! read more

Would definitely NOT recommend this shop. Had a stack of receipts from the previous owner when I bought the car, most were from this shop and were less than 1 year old (most work was done within months of buying the car). Bought the car with several engine codes related to the turbo. Ok, no problem, turbos go bad. After some digging, the real issue was that the turbo actuator was adjusted to not move, producing both underboost and overboost codes (depending on RPM, load, etc). Who did that!?! Reviewed receipts and found a charge for "Adjust Turbo" in there from Konstruct. Huh, that's not the way to fix it! Poor previous owners actually paid for this? Ends up there was an oil leak as well. Receipts showed a clutch , main seal, and input shaft seal replacement. There shouldn't be transmission fluid leaking with all the seals replaced! Called Konstruct and they were very polite/friendly and agreed to warranty the work if it was something they had just fixed/replaced. Cool. After three separate trips up there (80+ miles EACH way), and two days off work to shuttle the car up there/pick it up, the result was still leaking oil. Called them and they blamed me for adding too much oil. Huh? They were the last ones to check/add oil. Spoke with them a couple more times and they agreed to look at it again. Uh, no thanks, 99% sure they did nothing the first time other than waste my time and fuel. Ordered a new input shaft seal myself along with the required bolts that have to be replaced when pulling the transmission and did it ourselves. With the transmission out it was IMMEDIATELY obvious where the leak was and any competent mechanic would have easily seen it and fixed it (it was the INPUT SEAL that they claimed to have replaced twice now). It was definitely NOT replaced, easy to tell it was an old part in there. Ends up the parts cost less than the fuel to shuttle the car up, and time wise, took about the same amount to R&R the transmission and fix the issue. I really wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt and let them fix their work, but in the end, I've seen too much in the receipts vs the car to trust this shop. At first I thought maybe the receipts were faked from the seller, but Konstruct acknowledged they performed the work and had the same records. I also noticed that the cost of parts from Konstruct is ridiculously overpriced, IMO. They charged (the previous owner) well over 2X the going rate on the clutch parts (which did appear to be replaced). It's no wonder the previous owner wanted out of this car, they were throwing a ton of money at it. Sadly, seems they may have been chasing their tail. My advice, find a TRUSTED TDI guru or learn to work on them yourself. Dealers are typically REALLY bad, but independent shops can be as well. read more

I was referred to Konstruct Performance after receiving a bid from another firm that services VW's. The bid that I was originally given was far beyond what I could afford and more than what the car was even worth ! I was told that if I did not leave my car with them for a couple of weeks to replace the parts ,my car had the potential of being totally ruined. They told me it would take 2 weeks to get the parts and they had no loners .I was in shock. I had merely taken my car in for an oil change and annual "check up". I called Konstruct Performance and explained the situation the very day I was given the estimate from the other company. I spoke to Bill Rhodes who managed to calm me down and said that I could bring in my VW right away.I left my car at Konsturct Performance for their extraordinary master mechanics to look at . I felt that whatever news I got from Konsturct , it would be the truth and I could decide with them the best course of action to take. Bill called me within a couple of hours to say that it was not a major drama at all ,but merely a valve that needed to be replaced. The car could be picked up the next day in the early afternoon. The price that I was given for parts and labor was both fair and affordable. Not only was I treated with the respect , so was my car. My car is running beautifully and as long as I have a VW or Audi I will go to Konsturct Performance ! I am immensely grateful to both Bill and to the master mechanics at Konstruct . read more

The guys at Konstruct Performance are amazing. I had my car in for an oil change and a tire rotation. A week later, I heard some very strange noise coming from my front, right tire area. They got me in right away, looked at it, and found it was just a small stone that had bounced into the brake footing. Issue fixed and I was on my way. They did not charge me at all for this. In our rental Beetle on the way into Santa Fe, my wife's phone fell off the console between the seats. We stopped to look for it and could not find it anywhere. Finished the drive and scoured the car -- nothing. It had disappeared. My wife was distraught. We called Konstruct and they fit us in within a half hour. Their guy Diego took a quick look and figured out that the phone had somehow slipped into a crack where the cupholder was loose and was stuck inside the console. In less than a half-hour, he had pulled the passenger seat, retrieved the phone and put everything back together. The charge: less than $35 -- and they provided an explanatory invoice we could use to try to get reimbursed by the car rental company. All that and a great bedside manner. On December 30th we limped in to Santa Fe (on our way to Denver) from Albuquerque when my 2011 Tiguan blew one of it's two fuel pumps. After trying two other shops in town and being told that they couldn't look at our car until the following Monday (1/4/16), we drove over to Konstruct. The gate was open and there was a mechanic looking under the hood of another car so we drove in. Diego asked us what was wrong and we explained how the car was behaving (Diego diagnosed the problem of the broken high-pressure fuel pump) and that we were trying to get to Denver where our son was to begin college classes on Monday. Diego told us that his shop wasn't "technically open that day" but said he thought he knew what the problem was. Called the VW dealer who said the part was in stock. He said if we could come back in a few hours he would put it in for us. We showed up at the appointed time and we were on our way to Denver 45 minutes later! We can't say enough about the kind service performed by Diego (on his day off) at Konstruct Performance. These are the kind of people that you want working on your car. Took my 09' Jetta tdi in for 100K mile oil/filter change and fuel filter replacement. I usually change the oil/filter myself, but since a computer is needed to prime the fuel pump after filter replacement, I had them do it. They replaced the cabin filter without asking (I had a cabin filter at home I was planning to install myself). 2 hours later the bill was over $200, which I found ridiculous . A couple of days later I checked the oil level and found it overfilled. Using an oil extractor, I removed 2/3 of a quart of oil before it came down to the correct level (the owners manual specifically states not to overfill because it might damage the emissions system, not to mention causing leaks, etc.). The dude at the counter didn't even say thank you. I won't be going back. read more
