Both were delicious and hearty, served with sweet plantains, rice and mixed vegetables. The red palm oil was so flavorful and surprisingly light. My favorite was the grilled shrimp appetizer. Six large and juicy skewered shrimp, seasoned perfectly. On the side, a bit of the cucumber salad. This was perfect on a hot summer day. We also ordered sides of kidney beans and collard greens. Both of these deserve an ovation and could stand alone as stars on a vegetarian/low meat plate. The country rice is so good, perfect for the gravy formed from the oil in stews. We washed it all down with expertly crafted fresh fruit cocktails - the Nimba Night and Liberian Girl in particular were fantastic! I'm returning soon to soak in the beauty of this artfully blessed space, and to nibble on even more of the exotic tastes. Great job Little Liberia!

I have been following Little Liberia launch progress and was excited to be able to experience those west African flavors again. Liberian cuisine has been near impossible to get in the Detroit area since the early 80's. I haven't had any in a while. Fate however delayed me. I don't own a car and the restaurant is 25 miles away, Outside all the delivery apps ranges. So I couldn't get the food for months. Until today. Little Liberia is in a new hip part of Detroit. The neighborhood is walkable and has bikeways. New residential developments and inevitable gentrification are afoot. This restaurant deserves to be either in your regular rotation or a priority visit for a change of pace. It is well decorated and modern. It has a small bar and banquet space plus outdoor summer seating. The food was everything I remembered. The cassava leaf were so reminiscent of my year at LU, I would have been choked up but that would have slowed the pleasure that each forkful of the two entrees and one side I ordered delivered. I would have ordered more but they weren't serving a couple of my all time favorites check rice and potato greens today. I'll definitely be back to get those. Went on a Friday after the lunch rush. The restaurant is quite large with diner booths and tables, but was mostly empty on a Friday around lunchtime. A few people came in for takeout. The employees were very attentive and helpful, asking if it was my first time here - recommended me a few dishes and offered free hot tea while I waited for food. I decided to go with the lamb haneeth and the knafeh for my friend and I to share (we weren't super hungry). Everything was wonderful - the soup was very comforting and savory, the lamb was tender, the rice was pillowy, the tea was nicely spiced and sweet, and the knafeh was crunchy, sweet, salty, and chewy!

I've been to the food truck 3 or so times and have gotten fufu, egusi soup with goat, puff puff,…read moreand iced Zobo. The fufu was a good consistency wrapped in cling wrap so it doesn't stick to the packaging and can be eaten fully. The egusi is rich and flavorful; I definitely wish there was more of a spice to it but I have only ever had egusi from here so I don't know if culturally, it is meant to have more spice than that. Regardless, it's very tasty and I usually get a decent amount of goat in there. The puff puff is always delightfully soft and the perfect amount of sweetness to end my meal. The Zobo tea is very much not for me, the cinnamon along with ginger and hibiscus is something my tongue didn't like, but that's just a taste preference thing, I believe it was made well. As far as service, the lady who takes my order is always very kind and helpful. I appreciate her a lot. Her patience, especially when I first ordered, was greatly appreciated. This may be dramatic, but I found out later in life that I'm Nigerian and didn't get to enjoy my culture so she helped me pick the right things and it was a great encouragement to me. The chef is kind as well but we haven't had many interactions. As far as ambiance, I always get it next to the A2 farmers market which I love a lot because I get to walk around! Overall, I really love fork in Nigeria. My only cons are that it's a little expensive (one meal usually costs me $25-$30 for one person) and the wait can occasionally be a little longer but I don't mind it. Also, one time I got there right when they said they were going to open and they were an hour late. Other than that I've had amazing experiences here and can't wait to have more.

The restaurant is easy to miss, located on a main road. They do have a small free parking lot. The interior is small, intimate, casual, and unpretentious. At my second visit (my first was several years ago when it first opened) my friend and I came late in the afternoon on a Friday. I'm not sure if we came at a slow time (we were initially the first customers there) or that the Chef was training a new service, but we received VIP treatment. I've occasionally had chefs check in, I've never had service from the chef before! He discussed the menu, as well as his intention for the restaurant. I love Moroccan tea, and the tea service they provide is just lovely. He is certified in tea, and incredibly knowledgeable. My friend and I started with the mudammas fava bean dip, served with pita chips. This was so fantastic I would return just for it. Creamy, just the right balance of flavor, topped with fresh veggies to add texture, I cannot say enough good things. I had the lamb tagine, and she had the kafta meatball batbout. The meatball is listed as a sandwich, it is in house made flatbread. Both dishes were amazing, so fresh and flavorful. The lamb shank was fall off the bone, the couscous was loaded with fresh vegetables. I ended up stopping in for lunch again by myself. I had the harissa potatoes and the flava bean soup, and a slice of pie that was a special. Everything again was fantastic, but it's the potatoes that you will crave after having once. Crispy and brightly flavored, soft once you bit in. I was able to try one of the Chef's teas, and hear a bit more about the restaurant. While the bread for the meatball batbout is made in house, the bread for the fish and chicken sandwiches he obtains locally. I like how engaged he, and the restaurant as a result, is with the community. Chef Omar treats all of his customers as welcomed friends. A quick note that the restaurant does not have any alcohol. They offer alcohol free wine and other beverages. Be aware of this, but do not let it deter you!
