You get what you pay for. I went in for a $30 Brazilian wax and I will never play myself again when…read moreit comes to these type of services. The manager, Crystal, did my wax and not only left wax all over me, but she left the wax strips on the table that I laid on for me to see when I got up. It was disgusting. She missed some hair also ,and when she brought me back to the table to clean it up she applied alcohol to my open pores. My entire body was on fire. I don't know if she did that to me on purpose of it was her ignorance. Nevertheless, a manager should know better. The music was R&B and hip hop, the cleanliness was poor, and when I spoke to the owner regarding my poor experience she seemed empathetic but annoyed all in one and didn't offer any complimentary services for what I had endured. I'm honestly traumatized from it all, I cringe when I pass by that shopping center. Ladies, love yourself enough to spend what you need to pay, b/c you'll end up paying more in peace of mind and experience.

I have been a hairdresser who worked for John Jay, even Is His Assistant, for many years. I just…read moreneeded the very bottom of my hair cut, as I cut the rest of it. But I can't remove my head so I have to get someone else to do the length of the bob. They had me use a girl who absolutely should not be a hairdresser. She could not cut my hair. It was off over an inch and a half on one side longer. And when it's a Bob, it really shows. I asked her to cut more off and tried to show her how to check lengths. It was too long, but she said she had to go. I just called the salon and asked for somebody else to cut the bottom of my hair, and they said they would give me a discount and someone would do it for only $35 as long as I left with my hair wet. Which is what I was gonna do anyhow. You have to be kidding me!?! I just paid this other girl that same amount of money and gave her $10 tip because she is inept, and I felt bad for her. I figured she'll get fired soon. I have already paid. They used to be a great Salon, but apparently they're not anymore. And the customer service leaves a lot to be desired. I would never go there. I will show a friend and teach them how to cut the length of my hair before would go there again. And considering I used to teach with Jay's students too, I could teach a monkey how to cut hair. Don't go there.

Mike cut (parts of it) with a straight razor. Had never seen that done before. But that isn't even the best part, he cut my hair and then asked what I thought, it looked great but just slightly longer than I was expecting. I did not give him clear instructions, so it was on me. But with a smile, Mike wet my hair down again and cut it to the perfect length. Mike is freakishly good at his craft. And then my friend proceeds to tell me that his specialty is coloring women's hair! Amazing that he could be so good at men's hair and that's not even his forte'! I will never go anywhere else. ever.

It's a small and simple salon, nothing super flashy. Would be easy to drive by and overlook it. They're right next store to the fire station. They do eyebrows as well so make sure to book that when you come. They will take walk-ins when they can but I recommend calling since they can be booked up. When you come, try to swing by "Dawn's sweets" a few doors down for some delicious baked goods. There's also a really awesome snowball stand across the street "Mrs. V's" that stays open until 7pm some days. AND Jackson Park right up the street with a splash pad for kids. Grab a quick bite at subway across the street or Sammy's Grill around the corner.
