I think I would have enjoyed a snow cone if I could find the truck. The address sends you to a house in a neighborhood.

The parking lot was pretty empty. It was a bit of a cool night and there was no line. I looked at the different flavors and there were a few. I opted for a soft serve. I just got the plain vanilla, but had it dipped in the butterscotch shell because I was feeling nostalgic for the dipped cones I had as a child. The woman helping us was patient while we made up our minds. I needed napkins as it started dripping immediately, even through the thick coating. We sat at the tables outside and ate our cones. The butterscotch tasted ok but it was really thick and waxy so I didn't finish it. If I were in the area i might come back and get ice cream or soft serve again but skip the dip.

Overall, it is a 4.5 and I would say worth the trip if you were craving shaved ice or shaved snow this is really a spot to go to in San Diego. They only have about four locations on the West Coast and I would say the price is fair. Again the texture is the reason to go and I would say the store is clean and nicely decorated, but the floor is very sticky. One tip that I would give is that you bring your own water bottle because the cups they give are small.

I ordered a large Sunset Beach shave ice.  Ice was incredibly fluffy and soaked up the syrup so it didn't drain to the bottom.  Flavors were passion orange, mango, and guava.  It was fruity and delicious.  My favorite shave ice in town. 2nd visit I tried the Citrus Squeeze which consisted of lime, pink lemonade, and lemon.  Once again I was impressed by how fine and fluffy the ice was.  Lime was a blast of sour lime flavor.  Pink lemonade tasted just like a pink lemonade, and lemon was a mix of sweetness with lots of sour lemon flavor.  Great flavor combination. I discovered you can buy pints of Lappert's Hawaiian ice cream.  I bought 2 pints for $11 each. Kauai Pie consisted of rich creamy kona coffee ice cream with Hawaiian macadamia nuts, shredded and toasted coconut and dark chocolate fudge.  This ice cream was thick, rich and decadent. Vanilla bean was rich and creamy with a bold vanilla bean flavor.  One of my favorite vanilla ice creams. Staff was friendly, helpful, and efficient.  Hope they get more flavors of Lappert's ice cream as Palm Springs is where I usually have to go for Lappert's.

It really feels like going to a shave ice place in Japan. There are maybe about 8 tables inside that can fit between 2-4 people. There are also a couple of seats by the register. Each table has a unique decoration. Service: There's both a digital and paper menu and then you order up front. Both times, I have waited about 20-30 minutes. It's quite a long wait for 1 shave ice but when you get your order, you can see why it takes that long since they put some detail in it. Food: I believe they change their menu, not sure how often. Both times I ordered from their specials menu and they were so delicious, the ice was soft, and their toppings complemented each other well. One shave ice is enough for 2 people, especially after dinner. Highly recommend Ko-Li for a different kind of sweet treat!

A slice of tropical heaven in Carlsbad!…read more I've been to my fair share of Hawaiian shaved ice spots on the mainland but nothing--and I mean nothing--comes close to the magic they serve up here. One word: DREAMSICLE. I don't know what kind of sorcery they're working with, but this flavor tastes like childhood joy and beachside sunsets blended into a cup. It's perfectly creamy, citrusy, nostalgic, and refreshing all at once. I am not in Carlsbad often, but I know that the next time I'm headed to San Diego I am going to stop by and try more of their creations. But what really makes Aloha Ice special isn't just the incredible flavors--it's the people. The staff here are absolute gems. I came with a group of 6, a few kids, and a few indecisive adults. The employees were so genuinely patient, kind, and enthusiastic through the whole thing. No eye rolls, no rush--just warm smiles and helpful suggestions. Everyone ended up ordering shaved ice that they loved! It's rare to find a place that nails both quality AND hospitality, but Aloha Ice does it effortlessly. Whether you're a local or just passing through Carlsbad, don't miss this spot. Pro tip: get the Dreamsicle. You can thank me later!
