    Needing some refreshment
    Eric F.

Stopped by here for first time and it was overall a good experience. Took off one star for the still long wait time that still needs some fine tuning. The long lines out the door seem to be gone but even with no so many folks in line the wait was unusually long. The shave ice itself was very close to uulani in Hawaii but still much better than I've had the chance to try in all of SoCal. The mochi is also hand made in house and it shows. Best mochi I've had outside of Hawaii also. Would I co e back? Heck yea I would. Check them out if you're in the area for sure.

Just like Hawaii super fluffy and soft shaved ice that came with the flavors that were a variety of tropical and sweet. Overall, it is a 4.5 and I would say worth the trip if you were craving shaved ice or shaved snow this is really a spot to go to in San Diego. They only have about four locations on the West Coast and I would say the price is fair. Again the texture is the reason to go and I would say the store is clean and nicely decorated, but the floor is very sticky. One tip that I would give is that you bring your own water bottle because the cups they give are small.

Really yummy shave ice from Hawaii to make your day a lot cooler! We indulged in the blue Hawaii and lemon syrup and the matcha flavor. The only ehh thing that I have about this place is that the portions are very small and the syrup sometimes doesn't reach the other ice meaning that you're eating just ice. The shave ice is also pretty expensive for what you're getting so it's definitely a treat! Would love to come back again.

Authentic shave ice!! yes, shave ice is the name. brought from Hawaii to San Diego, and it's delicious. The Lappert's Macadamia ice cream is unmatched, and everything we tried is a 10/10 easily. Warm, family-friendly counter service in a fun, dog-friendly spot. Absolutely one of a kind.

Ululani's Shave Ice in Chula Vista delivers the true taste of aloha--no flight required. I'm shaved from booking a ticket thanks to this perfectly fluffy island treat Love the flavors, the staff especially MJ and Vince sooo friendly and welcoming like Ohana.

I've been following on Instagram for awhile and I finally made it out here! My friend said they came for grand opening but the line was around the building and they never got a chance to go. I'm glad i did! It feels very Hawaiian I had macadamia ice cream with the red beans over mango and coconut shaved ice cream.... It was a dream! I'd say the large was massive and i think i shoulda gone small ;p

I saw the "Coming Soon" sign before it opened and I was ecstatic. When it finally opened, I happily waited over an hour just to order--and then another 20+ minutes for my shave ice. Was it worth it? Yeeessss. Absolutely. And honestly? I did the same thing several more times. I'm born and raised in Hawaiʻi. This is what shave ice is suppose to be. The ice is soft and fluffy, the flavors are spot-on (made in house, purified water, natural fruit puree/juice) and it truly tastes like home. This location offers all the classic Hawaiʻi favorite flavors and, on a recent visit, they've added some mainland flavors as well. My favorite topping is the dry mochi--this is the only shave ice place in San Diego that I've been to that offers mochi like this, and it makes all the difference for me. The mochi is big, soft, and perfectly made. Ululani please add wet mochi to the menu. All the popular spots on the island of Oahu, Hawaii offer mochi as a topping. Next to the mochi I like condensed milk. Inside there are several seating areas. If your phone died while waiting in line there are areas to plug in. Once I visit back home Ululani will be one of my first stops. My sibling told me that they built a location in Pearl City and have 3 other locations on the island of Oahu. If you know Hawaii shave ice, you know, Ululani's delivers the real deal!

I have been wanting to try this place for a long time, and it absolutely delivered. We pulled into the parking lot with plenty of available spaces despite a steady flow of customers, which was already a good sign. The signage is clear and easy to spot. The moment we walked inside, I felt transported. It genuinely felt like being in Oʻahu. I have never been to Hawaii, but let me explain why the feeling was unmistakable. The music immediately sets the tone. It is soulful, relaxed, and full of island energy. The furniture and interior design reinforce the experience. It is not themed in a gimmicky way. It feels intentional and authentic. I spent a moment studying the menu and decided on a matcha, coffee, and coconut combination. It completely changed my expectations. The flavors were balanced, refreshing, and memorable. I was so excited that I did not even notice every detail at first. There was ice cream layered in the center, which made the experience even better. What stood out just as much as the food was the care put into the details. Wooden spoons. A biodegradable cup. Thoughtful, eco-friendly choices that show respect for both customers and the environment. From being greeted with "aloha" to being sent off with the same warmth, the hospitality was genuine and consistent. Great vibes. Great flavors. Thoughtful execution. What more could you ask for.

I really enjoyed Ululani's Hawaiian Shave Ice in Chula Vista, CA. The location opened in May of 2025. This was my second time trying Hawaiian shave ice this month and ordered the "Coconut Lovers," with coconut, Tiger's blood, and piña colada. I added vanilla bean ice cream. The dessert was 5/5 STARS delicious!! The service was great and location was very clean. A must try!! Happy Yelping :)

A TASTE OF THE 808. (4 stars) Travel south to Chula Vista isn't exactly Hawaii but it's as closed to shaved ice on the island! - SHAVE ICE: good - SERVICE: good - PRICE: fair - AMBIANCE: small shop in a plaza I wasn't sure exactly how this goes or what to get and went with "things I saw first" and what might taste good together. NO KA OI - mango, coconut, passion fruit. Honestly, I didn't like the mango - it was sweet and my least favorite but manageable with a snow cap (condense milk). The coconut and passion fruit were light yet present. AZUKI BEANS - I use to hate Azuki beans growing up but now I love them in my Asian and islander desserts. It adds a sweet yet mellow nutty flavor. MACADAMIA NUT ICE CREAM - this flavored of the flavors probably paired best with the syrup flavors chose. It was creamy, nutty, and had tiny chunks of macnut. Will def be back to try other flavors. Especially on those hot days.

First and foremost, thank you Ululani's and Yelp for this collaboration. Ululani's is located at 736 Otay Lakes Road, Chula Vista, CA 91910. We were greeted and assisted promptly. I ordered "Keiki's Favorite" shaved ice. It was incredible. The shaved ice was finely shaved. Thanks for being generous with allowing us to select the size of the shaved ice. For my Keiki's Favorite, I requested the following toppings: Azuki beans in the bottom, mochi balls and Li Hing Mui sprinkled ontop of the shaved ice. Ululani's offers only indoor seating. The seats aren't comfortable since they're wooden!!

They have a great selection of conchas, polvorones, fresh bolillos, empanadas (chicken, beef, jalapeño cream cheese), and custom cakes! Typically, I get the empanadas de piña 10/10! So many options, beautifully displayed. That part alone almost made the trip worth it. But the customer service... yeah, I'm not the only one who noticed. I asked the lady at the register in Spanish if there was any chocolate pan de muerto and she completely ignored me. Like, didn't even look up. Just called someone from the back in Spanish, which, mija, I understood every word. The girl who came to help me was a little better but not much. She told me the chocolate pan de muerto was sold out, which fine, I get it, it was a holiday. But that's literally all you had to say. No smile, no "sorry we're out," nothing. Just took my money and that was that. The panadería itself deserves five stars. The staff needs some work. I'll probably go back for the pan because it really is that good, but I'm keeping my expectations low on the service side.
