Ululani's Shave Ice in Chula Vista delivers the true taste of aloha--no flight required. I'm shaved from booking a ticket thanks to this perfectly fluffy island treat Love the flavors, the staff especially MJ and Vince sooo friendly and welcoming like Ohana.

I saw the "Coming Soon" sign before it opened and I was ecstatic. When it finally opened, I happily waited over an hour just to order--and then another 20+ minutes for my shave ice. Was it worth it? Yeeessss. Absolutely. And honestly? I did the same thing several more times. I'm born and raised in Hawaiʻi. This is what shave ice is suppose to be. The ice is soft and fluffy, the flavors are spot-on (made in house, purified water, natural fruit puree/juice) and it truly tastes like home. This location offers all the classic Hawaiʻi favorite flavors and, on a recent visit, they've added some mainland flavors as well. My favorite topping is the dry mochi--this is the only shave ice place in San Diego that I've been to that offers mochi like this, and it makes all the difference for me. The mochi is big, soft, and perfectly made. Ululani please add wet mochi to the menu. All the popular spots on the island of Oahu, Hawaii offer mochi as a topping. Next to the mochi I like condensed milk. Inside there are several seating areas. If your phone died while waiting in line there are areas to plug in. Once I visit back home Ululani will be one of my first stops. My sibling told me that they built a location in Pearl City and have 3 other locations on the island of Oahu. If you know Hawaii shave ice, you know, Ululani's delivers the real deal!

A TASTE OF THE 808. (4 stars) Travel south to Chula Vista isn't exactly Hawaii but it's as closed to shaved ice on the island! - SHAVE ICE: good - SERVICE: good - PRICE: fair - AMBIANCE: small shop in a plaza I wasn't sure exactly how this goes or what to get and went with "things I saw first" and what might taste good together. NO KA OI - mango, coconut, passion fruit. Honestly, I didn't like the mango - it was sweet and my least favorite but manageable with a snow cap (condense milk). The coconut and passion fruit were light yet present. AZUKI BEANS - I use to hate Azuki beans growing up but now I love them in my Asian and islander desserts. It adds a sweet yet mellow nutty flavor. MACADAMIA NUT ICE CREAM - this flavored of the flavors probably paired best with the syrup flavors chose. It was creamy, nutty, and had tiny chunks of macnut. Will def be back to try other flavors. Especially on those hot days.

I really enjoyed Ululani's Hawaiian Shave Ice in Chula Vista, CA. The location opened in May of 2025. This was my second time trying Hawaiian shave ice this month and ordered the "Coconut Lovers," with coconut, Tiger's blood, and piña colada. I added vanilla bean ice cream. The dessert was 5/5 STARS delicious!! The service was great and location was very clean. A must try!! Happy Yelping :)

First and foremost, thank you Ululani's and Yelp for this collaboration. Ululani's is located at 736 Otay Lakes Road, Chula Vista, CA 91910. We were greeted and assisted promptly. I ordered "Keiki's Favorite" shaved ice. It was incredible. The shaved ice was finely shaved. Thanks for being generous with allowing us to select the size of the shaved ice. For my Keiki's Favorite, I requested the following toppings: Azuki beans in the bottom, mochi balls and Li Hing Mui sprinkled ontop of the shaved ice. Ululani's offers only indoor seating. The seats aren't comfortable since they're wooden!!

Ululani's is THAT spot and it gets packed quick, so be ready. The quality of their shaved ice is on another level... super fine, fluffy, and packed with flavor. Easily some of the best I've ever had, and I highly recommend it if you're anywhere nearby. Service is friendly and fast AF, even when the line gets wild. My kids and I love coming here they always have coloring sheets to keep the little ones busy, and they play kids' shows, which is honestly such a thoughtful touch. Makes the whole experience chill and stress-free. Always good vibes here. We'll definitely be coming back more and more!

This place is so special to me, I always go to the Ululani's locations when I visit Maui and it was so exciting for me to come in Chula Vista!! It felt like I was transported right back to the Hawaiian Islands. The shave ice flavors are SO good, especially the passion fruit, this was the winning flavor for me. The actual texture of the ice is so fine, it felt like a soft cloud. The macadamia ice cream is so good, it has real chunks of Mac nuts in it. It's definitely a must-add to your shave ice. I also enjoy getting snow cap and of course you cannot skip out on the hand made mochi! Such great texture. The place has a great vibe, cute design and nice decor. The staff were so incredibly nice. They offered more syrup if my ice ever felt low. All of them were from Maui too which was really cool and made it feel so much more special. Will be coming back again and again!

Someone someday will have to convince me that my love of a POG shave ice on a Mac nut ice cream with snowcap isn't the best treat ever! Until then I am going to continue to go out of my way to come to this beloved Hawaiian traditional shave ice spot. After being teased about opening soon - it is here and by the traffic it is here to stay!

Ululani's Shave Ice has their original locations in Maui and their shave ice is known as some of the best of the islands. I'm so happy that we can have it here. There is one location closer to me in Hollywood; however, this location in Chula Vista, San Diego is more accessible to me when I visit family in the area. I got their "Sunset Beach", which features their shave ice with Passion fruit, Mango, and Guava syrups, which are house made with real fruit and cane sugars. You absolutely need to get one of their shave ice with their "snow cap" of condensed milk. If you want to splurge, you could add ice cream. They use ice cream from Lappert's in Honolulu. I got their Mac Nut ice cream; however, they also have Vanilla and Coconut. The shave ice is smooth, the condensed milk makes the dessert creamy, and the syrups have concentrated flavors that don't feel artificial. It's why this is a top choice in the Hawaiian Islands. Overall, I'm glad that we can have it here in Southern California. The only con is that this spot can get quite busy and there is limited seating inside; however, there's nothing better on a hot day.

Ulululani's shaved ice was just how I remembered it when we visited one of their many locations on Maui. The shaved ice was still soft, flavorful and refreshing on a hot day. And yes, in San Diego, it was one of those summer days and Ulululani's hit the spot! We ordered keiki-sized No Ka Oi and Lava Flow snow capped with condensed milk. The size was more than enough for both my daughter and I. The line was never ending, so you could tell that everyone had the same idea on that hot day too!

We got lucky and there was only 2 people ahead of us. Although finding a table was a little challenging. No Kai Oi (Mango, Coconut, Passion Fruit) - We found the coconut flavor to be lacking. Couldn't tell if we were just eating ice. Sunset Beach (Passion Orange, Mango, Guava) with ling hui mui powder and snow cap. I thought this was good and actually used some of the syrup to drizzle over the coconut side of the no kai oi. The ice was very fluffy. We ordered the large but I think keiki (kids) size would be been good enough because they do pack on the ice.

I decided to try this place out after opening months ago. Partly, because the lines were so ridiculously long. And if I'm being honest, I still prefer the Ululanis's in Hawaii... service was okay. They had two people working and it took what seemed like forever to take our order. We got a couple of sunset beach and the no ka oi - the best (with snow caps of course). I think they could've been a little more generous with the syrups! Ambiance was nice! Love the back drops and pictures on the wall, very aesthetically appealing! Overall, not bad! Still prefer the OG spots in Hawaii.

The moment you walk through the door, the smell of fresh baked pan hits you and it is everything. The selection of pan dulce and bolillos had me feeling like I was back in Mexico City. So many options, beautifully displayed. That part alone almost made the trip worth it. But the customer service... yeah, I'm not the only one who noticed. I asked the lady at the register in Spanish if there was any chocolate pan de muerto and she completely ignored me. Like, didn't even look up. Just called someone from the back in Spanish, which, mija, I understood every word. The girl who came to help me was a little better but not much. She told me the chocolate pan de muerto was sold out, which fine, I get it, it was a holiday. But that's literally all you had to say. No smile, no "sorry we're out," nothing. Just took my money and that was that. The panadería itself deserves five stars. The staff needs some work. I'll probably go back for the pan because it really is that good, but I'm keeping my expectations low on the service side.

They sell their señorita bread in multiples of 5, and the price scales proportionally. They also have some packaged breads at the checkout counter and a display case with donuts and malasadas. I got 5 señorita breads for $4, and a guava malasada. When I was handed my bag of goods, the señorita breads were still warm! I've never had this type of bread before so I have no comparison. However, the fat, cigar-shaped breads were really satisfying while hot and fresh. They are buttery, sugary, and chewy inside. The texture was a bit homogenous for me, but still quite tasty. I had a second one hours later and it was not as nice. I think they would definitely benefit from a reheat if you have leftovers. The guava malasada was not my favorite. The jam inside was more musty than fragrant, and very artificially red. The dough itself was well-fried and soft, even fresh out of the refrigerator on the second day. I love the textural difference of the sugar crystals on the surface, compared to a traditional donut glaze. I ended up scooping the guava filling out of the middle and eating the fried bread. Overall, while I enjoyed the señorita breads, Chula Vista is a bit of a trek and I would not go out of my way to get them. I am interested in trying Starbread in the Bay, to see if they taste different.
