They're listed as closed, but they're not. They kind of changed their name to "Max Health" but are still kind of going by Kona. I don't think they really know what's going on to be honest. Anyway, they act like they're super busy and can't possibly get you in any sooner than two weeks out, which is funny considering there's never anyone there. I scheduled an appointment for 10am and then they told me the day of that it was actually 8am and I had missed it. I told them, respectfully, no it wasn't, because I would never schedule an appointment so early. I have a toddler who gets up around 8am and never schedule any appointments earlier than 10am...ever. There's also the fact that I added it to my calendar as I was confirming it on the phone with the receptionist...I wasn't just going off memory. They refused to acknowledge that it was their error and wouldn't lift a finger to correct their mistake. They apparently couldn't get me in again for another two weeks. Needless to say I scheduled with another chiropractor. I don't appreciate having my time wasted and I definitely don't appreciate receptionists who make scheduling errors and then try to blame them on me. Go elsewhere. read more

I was a walk-in with no expectation to be treated. When I arrived it was painful to even get of my car. After thinking I was there to schedule a consultation, I ended up walking out 90% pain free after one session. I didn't realize how much pain I was in until I almost cried when I walked out almost pain free. It would take to long to explain the examples mobility I gained after just one appointment. Most disgraceful experience ever trying to make a chiropractor appointment! Reception offered to schedule me for Monday and after I told her about my neck problem she asked if I agave Medicare. I said yes but I pay cash for chiropractic. She then refused me the appointment claiming they are legally required to bill them even if I pay cash but they don't have a billing dept so cannot! I told her I always pay cash and in fact just saw a chiropractor in Reno and paid cash! This place is a joke! read more

I had a 50 minute massage. I filled out all of the paperwork regarding my needs/concerns.(I don't think they ever bothered to read it) The massage I had was not relaxing or fit for my needs. My main reason for going was to help with tension/pain. I asked for medium to deep pressure but it felt like it was only light. My muscle knots were not even touched, not sure why because I mentioned it multiple times on the intake paperwork. Also in the middle of the massage, there were loud voices/conversing that I could hear from either the lobby or desk area. My massage was not even the full 50 minutes. This was not the experience I was expecting or hoping for. I've messaged them on their website regarding this and they never replied back. read more

Wow - I am impressed! From the first time I called and spoke with Terese on the phone, made an appt, and she sent me forms through email and the ease I felt with her on the phone made me so comfortable. The efficiency of filling out the "paperwork" ahead of time was awesome! Then I walked into the office and was greeted by 2 smiling faces...very welcoming! Then I saw the Chiropractor and he spent time hearing what my complaints were and the experiences I have had in the past (good and bad). I had suffered for 9 days with seeing a couple of Quacks...only to still be in pain. This Chiropractor is amazing, he gets that the pain you are feeling from compensating from the root pain needs to be adjusted as well. After he adjusted me in several places, he asked me to walk around the room to see how I felt...I started crying because the root pain as well as the pain caused by compensating was GONE! I apologized but I literally had suffered almost 2 weeks. I will definitely go back and will recommend him to anyone who needs Chiropractic. I've been going to Kona since I had a mild car accident in 2018, and I can't say enough about Dr. Russell and the incredible staff. The adjustments have always been so great and helpful, and I get incredible relief. I've also had massage from a number of different therapists and each one has been great. I can highly recommend Meghan for one. Yesterday I had a massage by Josh Rodriguez for the first time, and I have to say I haven't felt this good in my body in many months. I went in with chronic pain from surgery and an illness, and this morning it is GONE. I slept for 10 hours straight and I feel so much better. I had a 90 minute massage with Angela today. It was extremely therapeutic and she was able to work out a lot of muscle tension without beating me up so much that I was in pain. She was in a room that had its own bathroom which was nice because it saved time in the beginning since I didn't have to run around the place to use the restroom. She used essential oil and checked that I liked them first. (I do). I also really liked the ambience - warm sheets, essential oils, music, color light... all good things. Angela was also really good about checking in with me on the pressure and this is key to make sure I'm not in pain later. I will definitely return! read more

Walked in today not know what a doctor had done to my leg. Literally my right leg was way out and I was leaning to the left. In minutes Dr. Brian had me walking and feeling my leg again. Jeneka Embrey exceeded every expectation I had. I've always been hesitant about/suspicious of chiropractors, believing they create their own perpetual clients. Maybe some of them do, but I definitely did not get that feel from her. She read the form I filled out prior to the appointment (a huge pet peeve of mine, when the doctors continually ask you questions you just took time to explain on a form), listened to my concerns, and explained every single step before she did it, plus what all the different sounds and sensations meant. Never once did I have any concerns regarding my decision to try a chiropractor to fix my SI joint pain. When I left her office I was able to stand up straight for the first time in 4 days. I was a little sore after, but it was a different kind of soreness. I don't remember the name of the machines/therapy they used, but there was a pulsing massager beforehand and electrical stimulation after, to help bring blood flow to the affected areas - the goal is to support the body healing itself. I would encourage anyone with any concerns or hesitation regarding chiropractic treatment to give Kona, Dr. Embrey specifically, a try. This doctor is a life saver! You know, you don't often connect post cancer pain treatment with chiropractors but you really should. My mother is a fifty four year old woman who has suffered from cancer pain for the last fifteen years of her life. The damage wrought to her body during that war seemed unfixable. Neuropathies made it impossible for her to walk upright. My mother seemed older than my Great Grandmother, who is a few years past a hundred. Then came Dr. Russell. I was referred to Kona by my retiring massage therapist, specifically to Miranda. She was friendly and knowledgeable about anatomy and was very cautious around my injured neck (c-spine). I had been to her 5 times when my most recently, Kona called a week before my session and said she was no longer there !! I was rescheduled with Jennifer...BIG MISTAKE!! She was friendly and I discussed my neck injury and other health issues with her while she was working on me. Brenda has changed our lives, she has helped my husband so so so much. We were pretty much at the at the end of our rope, he was in constant pain. Nothing helped him his muscles in his lower back were so tight he could barley move his legs. He was waking up in the middle of the night. Kona Chiropractic is the place to go for your next adjustment or massage. I went in today when they first opened without making an appointment or calling ahead to make sure the doctor was in. I informed the staff of how I felt I was one movement away from my back going out. They told me the doctor had come in for their weekly meeting but had left for the day. However one of the gals went to his office to see if she could help me some way and Dr. Russell was still in. She immediately put me in a room and Dr. Russell came right in to adjust me and make sure I was taken care of. Dr. Russell and his staff are phenomenal. I had been in excruciating shoulder pain for 30 days. I wasn't able to sleep and perform my normal daily routines due to the severity of the pain. I was referred by a friend to go there and my only regret is that I didn't go sooner. The first thing that blew my mind was the professional and compassionate staff that greet you. The second was, Dr. Russell took the time to ask me questions about my pain and then listened when I responded. Went in for my first visit today to get some relief from horrible back and hip pain and although its going to take more then today to heal me so far I loved the place! The Doctor was super gentle with the adjustment, Even my neck adjustment was comfortable, I usually flinch from fear lol. They did decompression and ultra sound therapy and even taught me stretches to do at home to help. Booked an 8:00am appointment with massage therapist "Brenda" at Dr. Russell's Kona Chiropractic office to help re-set a displaced bicep tendon. Arrived for appointment, filled out paperwork and told "sorry Brenda has a 'bad leg' and can't make it in. Is there any way to reschedule?" The lack of apology and unprofessionalism at this office is hard to comprehend. I work 11 hour days and the inconvenience and loss of valuable time that this office's incompetence caused me cannot be overstated. Do NOT book a massage appointment with this office. I should have paid attention in the very beginning when I had an adjustment done at Kona Chiropractor. I went in for a hip adjustment only to return the same day asking Brian to put things back to the way they were when I first came in. I could barely drive a mile down the road with extreme shooting pains in my lower back and hips. Currently from an adjustment a couple of months ago, I went in for right shoulder pain. The doctor did no other manipulation on me except for two failed neck adjustments that left me unable to walk for three days, starting my journey to the emergency room and numerous doctors. To date, I am in in tens of thousands of dollars climbing into the hundreds of thousands of dollars and scheduled for a neck fusion due to C5, C6, and C7 fractured vertrebrae in my neck. My quality of life since my last visit to Kona Chiropractor has been severely disrupted. Numerous trips to Urgent Care and Emergency room, as well as Physical Therapy have been my life until my scheduled surgery with the Spine Specialist to fuse my neck. The neck would only adjust to the right and the Dr. had a hard time adjusting to the left leaving me with a severely damaged ulnar nerve, loss of function to fingers on my right hand, extreme headaches, back nerve damage, 3 ribs on right side popped out, and left hip nerve damage, seizures, radiculopathy on a scale of 10 for pain, jaw pain, damaged tendons, torn muscles, and the list goes on. Going to Kona reduced my very healthy, strong, vibrant life, to a complete disaster leaving me dependent on my children and friends just to get through the day. DO NOT GO HERE! read more
