Good sushi, good ramen. New to Houston seeking rich broth, which surprisingly, is hard to find. This one came really close to what I've been craving, but something was a bit off. Not sure if the ingredients or if they didn't prepare the broth for at least 24 hours? I don't know, I'll need to go again to give it another chance.

Why 4 stars? Because everything teetered right on the edge of great. --- --- --- So much of what we experienced here was good, but just slightly missed the mark of causing me to exhibit poor manners in the form of mumbling OMG with a mouth full of food involuntarily because I couldn't help but acknowledge the greatness. We started off with the Monkey Brains appetizer. I think it was fine, but wouldn't need to order it again. It was essentially a sushi roll that was very avocado heavy. 3.5 stars. My wife ordered the "Sushi A" lunch, which consisted of 5 piece of chef's choice nigiri and one roll, and we chose the Spider Roll. The Spider Roll is normally a pretty safe choice, but tbh, we did not love it. There was a lot of daikon in it and I prefer these without the soy paper. As for the Spider Roll itself, I would give it maybe 2.5 stars. And most of the Nigiri was fine: 4-stars. BUT, one piece was one of the best I have ever had. I actually ordered a second piece because I was so blown away: the Super White Fish (Escolar) was unbelievable. It tasted like butter fish at Roy's, but in nigiri form. 5 stars is not giving it enough credit. We ordered two other rolls: The Temptation and the Lion King. We enjoyed both, but again, they were just one note shy of amazing. 4.5 stars. Also, shoutout to the kids chicken teriyaki meal. I was snacking off of that myself and really enjoyed it. Even the fries were high quality. 5 stars for a kids meal. We walked in exactly the minute that they opened on a Saturday, so we were the only ones in here for a bit, but the service was prompt and friendly the entire time. We don't live in the area, and there's a lot of competition nearby when it comes to sushi, but this is definitely not a bad option!

AMAZING! Great service and great food! The sushi was fresh and exactly what I was craving. We came during happy hour and I was happy with the quality and price of the food. I got smoked salmon nigiri and the nemo roll. Amazing! Personally not a huge fan of lemons in my rolls but that's just a personal thing, for the first couple of bites it was good then I got sick of it. If you like lemon, however, it is a great blend! My boyfriend got the ramen bowl (I believe chicken but I could be wrong as well, I had a few bites of the sides onto and it was good! I'm just not a huge ramen fan especially since the ramen I'm used to are the ones you cook at home haha) Sushi: 11/10 Roll: 8/10 Ramen: 7/10 (according to my boyfriend) Overall, AMAZING! Please check them out, they were super sweet and their happy hour was a great deal (we went around 3pm on Saturday)

Probably my favorite sushi ramen place to eat at around Saw Dust road. Great happy hour and the food is ALWAYS great. The staff are so responsive and professional. Super clean and neat restaurant.

Overall pretty good. My family and I decided to try this new place and I'm glad we did. The service is friendly and helpful. The food is great, flavorful and well seasoned. This restaurant also offers a wide variety of toppings and customizations which are very enjoyable. The appetizers were also delicious (especially the seaweed salad). Definitely will be coming back!

We decided to try a new restaurant, we came here on 12/17/2022 around 7:00pm. We were immediately greeted and seated with good service. It was very clean and because this spot gets a lot of traffic/busy (for good reason) they always had staff frequently cleaning the tables. It's not a very big restaurant, but there's ample amount of space/booths/seating. The lighting, ambiance and atmosphere is quiet, pleasant, and cozy. The food was SUPER GOOD! We started with pork egg rolls and onion soup. The egg rolls were so good, we ordered two rounds. The onion soup wasn't as flavorful as some Hibachi restaurants I've been to, but it was still soothing and good. I would definitely order both again. My partner also ordered The Crunch Roll sushi and she loved it. She compared it to our favorite sushi spot and she said it could give them a run for their money (lol). This was also our first time trying ramen. I ordered the Black/Garlic Chicken Ramen and my partner ordered the Spicy Beef Ramen. The Black Garlic Chicken Ramen was a little on the bland side for me, it was still good but I probably wouldn't order that specific one. The Spicy Beef Ramen was THE ONE. I would most certainly order this one every time I come back. It had the flavor and all of the right things inside (we also love the thin noodles they use). Overall, we loved our experience and the food. We would definitely recommend & will be back.

The food at this place is mind blowing. It was highly recommended by a sushi lover. Every item we tried was delicious and exceeded our expectations. We even topped it off with some mochi! The ambiance is nice but the place is small, so for larger parties I'd call ahead. Service was great but a tad bit slow - either they need to hire more servers or someone may have called in sick. Will definitely be coming back.

What a little gem this spot is. We stopped by on a whim after grabbing coffee. I had 2 orders of pepper tuna, and it was divine. I also had the spicy miso ramen it was delicious. I just wish there was more spice to it. Our waiter was polite and constantly stopped by to check on us and refill water.

Amazing sushi, didn't take a picture of the appetizers but everything was sooo good. My favorite roll was the Jalapeño Roll and Shaggy Dog but I would have all of them again. I'm stuffed...

It's a good place to stop and grab a quick bite. The restaurant is not very big but the staff is friendly. Monday - Friday from 3 to 6 and all day Sunday is Happy Hour. They have a variety of selections and rolls on the menu. You could literally just order off of the happy hour menu and be good ( it doesn't include ramen). We just ordered basic items. It was more than enough for the 2 of us. I would definitely come back again.

The food was very good and the customer service was GREAT!! Visited Komeya for the first time and had a patient and attentive waitress. My drink was always full and the food came out fast. The ambiance was soothing. They offer many options, so if you aren't interested in ramen, you are covered. My table ordered the original ramen, and it was delicious! What is even better is that their employees have integrity. After leaving behind an expensive item, an employee came running out to return it. Overall, an amazing restaurant with amazing employees.

Man, I'm so glad to have this new sushi place in Spring. We came here on Christmas and they had a Christmas special so we got to try a bunch of different menu items that we may not have otherwise ordered. The quality of sushi here meets my high standards - I've worked for two sushi restaurants, and while I enjoy sushi at most places, I am impressed by very few. Komeya is the first sushi place to impress me in quite a long time. We've already been back again since our first visit. The Yellowtail Jalapeño was delicious, and so was the Komeya Sashimi Salad. The Nemo roll and Spicy Twin Salmon roll were good, and so was the Waikiki, but the real winner to my fiancé and I was the Lion King roll. It was so yummy, and I don't think we'll come here in the future without ordering it. We also ordered (but didn't get pictures of) the Tiger Eye roll, which in my opinion is similar anywhere you have it, the Spider roll which was good, and the Amazing Tuna roll, which we really liked as well. We'll definitely be back again. Komeya has set the bar high for the sushi restaurants of Spring. read more

So happy that I found this place! Very close to the house, place is clean and cozy and not pretentious like the higher priced sushi places. Sushi is very good and decently priced, even tastier than the higher priced places. Been here 4 times so far and did not have any sushi that we did not love. Freshest sushi I've had in Texas. It was delicious. We ordered calamari, chicken teriyaki, spicy edamame, an eel and avocado roll, and the 64 piece sushi boat. Everything was delicious. The staff was fantastic, and the food came out lightning fast. Highly recommend! read more

We went there right after 11am, the restaurant is CLEAN, staffs were welcoming. No other customers were there so the server was eager to work.. didn't give us much time to look at menus or finish our food. The Soup of Ramen was way too lukewarm to me and very small amount... barely covers noodles. Noodles could be cooked better however the Chashu pork and egg were very good! FYI: Ramen Soup probably has Star anise in it. read more

I keep meaning to review Komeya, and then I get busy and never do. So, this is going to include a lot of items but it's from 3 different visits. STARTER: Spicy Garlic edamame- perfectly spiced. Not too much, not too little, serves at a good temp. Miso soup- this was an unexpected star. I enjoy it but I dont recall ever saying "oh my god, this miso soup!" until this one. We actually got some to go Seaweed salad- was fine, nothing super special. The last time, they added slivered Apple which was a nice touch. Vegetable tempura- Perfectly battered and no undercooked veggies...excellent crunch factor and tasty dipping broth. SUSHI/SASHIMI: Komeya roll- lobster tempura in a nicely balanced roll. I really like this one but am honestly not sure if it being lobster (vs crab) makes much difference. Nice presentation Spider hand roll: Slightly loose and messier than some...to be fair, we added extra Japanese Mayo Temptation roll: very good mix, liked the honey garlic sauce Sweet potato vegan roll: I tried this just to see if it would satisfy my vegetarian friends and was pleasantly surprised. It still felt like sushi but was unique Boat for 2, sushi sashimi combo: Fun presentation...we were also really pleased with the quality of the cuts...chefs choice can go well or badly on these types of things, but we had a sense they selected for good pieces instead of pawning off what they needed to get rid of the. The rolls were also tasty. All in all, we enjoyed but we like our go to rolls and mostly would just order those...would definitely consider getting this if we went with a group though. DESSERT: Mochi- perfectly balanced, good texture, and does find going to my home freezer if I'm stuffed. Fried banana w/ green tea ice cream- my picture didn't do it justice but this was amazing! I shamelessly licked the plate after. The banana is perfectly done and crisp and the green tea ice cream is the best I've ever had...not too sweet, nor bland. Summary: All in all, we've really enjoyed our food and service here and it's definitely a go to for us now! read more

Komeya is one of my fav ramen/sushi spots in the area. I love their tonkotsu black ramen and the shaggy dog roll. My wife and I go here often and we love how fresh the sushi always is. You can see it being made while you wait. The dumplings and spicy edamame are also a win! read more

I saw the great reviews and had to see for myself. Turns out, the reviews were right, their sushi is legit. I tried a few nigiri and a few rolls. Also had a craft beer which you can find at some of the better sushi places. I would consider this definitely one of the better ones in town. Overall great experience and I will be back. read more

Found a new hidden gem for sushi! It looks like they just opened as the grand opening banner is still there on the entrance. The place is charming, service is great, and the food is great! Our orders came out fast unlike other sushi places where it'll be about 20-45 mins for sushi rolls. We love supporting local eats! Glad we went and had dinner there. Will definitely go there again! I love Komeya!! It's my go to spot for sushi with my family. The sushi has crazy good flavor profiles and incredible fusions. I only have a couple notes. They are kinda expensive for an order of sushi and gyoza for 3 people. If it's gonna be that expensive then give us more to eat. Also some of the fish tasted a little funny to me when I tried the rainbow roll, although it was good. Anyway this is such a good sushi spot and better then Akashi. read more

We've been looking for a favorite sushi restaurant in The Woodlands for awhile now. This place hit the spot! Everything was fresh and so yummy! Creative sushi rolls were awesome. My first visit. We plan on returning tomorrow. We came at an off time so initially the service was slow due to low staff at odd time. The food far made up for it The monkey brain was stupid good! I have literally been going to this place 1-2x a week since I discovered it which isn't that long ago since they pretty much just opened haha. It's a very small but cute and CLEAN restaurant. The server is super friendly and welcoming. They follow all social distancing guidelines and clean the booths/tables well after each customers. Their appetizers and sushi are AMAZING. And that says a lot because I've been working in the Japanese food industry for 10 years. We've tried a lot of their rolls and appetizers. My favorite and MUST haves are the spicy edamame and Hama chili. And the scorpion and ocean rolls. You really can't go wrong with much though. Stopped in with a friend for a bite to eat and was thoroughly impressed! The atmosphere is super pleasant, servers were friendly, and my bowl of tonkotsu ramen was just perfect. Oftentimes I order ramen, cannot finish it all and leave the place feeling way too full, but the serving size here was just right! The menu was also very pretty and easy to read. I also appreciated the fact that they had hand sanitizer at each table. Definitely plan on coming back and trying some sushi next time. read more

This just became my new fave sushi spot! They have really unique rolls with amazing flavor profiles. There's something for everyone, and each roll I tried was so fresh and delicious! I got the Onion Soup, House Salad with Ginger dressing, Pan Fried Dumplings (potstickers), Spicy Edamame (just enough spice!), as well as the Amazing Tuna, Waikiki, Nemo and Diablo rolls. All were so good! We got a second Amazing Tuna roll to share and also took one home for my hubby to try! All in all a great birthday lunch, and they have great service. We'll be back! read more

The only thing better than the food (I usually enjoy the ramen with monkey's brain or sushi roll)... is their staff! BTW it's not really a monkey's brain, and it delicious. This place is on my weekly list of restaurants... try it, you won't be sorry. read more

I'm originally from Nashville and it's my first time in Houston. Leaving Orwall Park, I was looking for some good sushi to polish off my trip. I saw that Komeya had great ratings. The building was a bit difficult to find, being in the corner of a small strip center behind a big tree. However, I was more than pleased from the moment I walked in, to the moment I walked out of their doors. I was seated immediately, and service was prompt for my entire experience. The staff were polite, friendly, and relatable. My server gave me fantastic food suggestions. The Diablo roll is the best sushi roll I've ever had in my life, and it will be extremely difficult to beat, if ever. The atmosphere was calm, relaxing, and immaculate. The prices were also very reasonable for such a nice place. Their menu is huge; everyone could find something they like. I highly recommend Komeya to anyone who enjoys sushi, ramen, hibachi, sake, etc. If I'm ever back in Houston, I will be returning for another fantastic meal. read more

The staff is so rude!!! I have been there 3 times but after this most recent experience I will NOT be back. not only was my waitress (Kristian) rude, she also seemed annoyed and super lazy about getting me certain utensils & a water refill. Even with us being the only customers in the restaurant, she was very inattentive & the food was so slow I was wishing we had went somewhere else. When it came out I was disappointed. Not the freshest, and some of the food had come out cold. Just an all around disappointment, save your money, there's plenty of other options in the area that have better service and better quality food! Won't be going back again. read more

The waitress named Kristian was SO rude to me, acted like she didn't care. Forgot to bring our drinks and forgot to place the order for our appetizers, so they ended up coming out AFTER our food was finished, which defeated the purpose of ordering apps. ALSO the food, or meat and soup at least, was cold and unseasoned. needs a better staff.
