Came here with some friends for the omakase special meal…read more Such a lovely overall standard omakase experience and meal. The highlight for me was probably the set of four starter appetizers, they were flavourful, delicately prepared and perfect way to start the meal. I liked the slightly pickled dish with cucumbers the best. We also had sushi prepared with fresh seafood. The rice was probably my favorite compared to other places I've been. It was perfectly seasoned rice, warm and cooked to have just the right texture, not overcooked and not undercooked. The rice held up well when picked up by hand and complemented the flavours of the fish. Finished the meal with a matcha flavored pudding flan type dessert which had deep matcha flavours. If you're a fan of matcha, you'd probably enjoy it too. All in all, the meal was enjoyable, the torched tuna sushi was probably my favorite sushi of the set and my least favorite was the egg/eel, I was expecting a sweet egg at the end so it unexpected.

We were greeted by the host, and taken to our table. Our server was nice and got our orders in pretty quickly. The meats were good as usual, but the rib eye steak was on the chewy/tough side. They added sushi to their menu and it was okay, I wouldn't order it again as I'm really here for the ayce meat. My kids enjoyed everything and ate everything up. I love their crème brûlée and their deep fried rice cake with brown sugar. Needless to say, we left with our bellies were full and we will be back soon.

All of their meats were fresh, well tempered (not stale/straight out of the freezer). Condiment bar was self serve and had a wide selection to customize your sauce. Their veggies were also very fresh & the appetizers such as wings & the squid ink dumpling were AMAZING. Soft drinks are also included in the Premium AYCE price at $45/pp after tax. All of their waitstaff we interacted with were kind, patient, attentive, and helpful. Their seating layout is also notable-- each individual table was enclosed, it gave a more cozy/private feel rather than loud & overstimulating despite dining during peak hour. If I could critique even just one thing, it'd be the dessert options, almond pudding and ice jelly were a bit disappointing to end the meal with cuz they weren't great in our opinion, but not problematic enough for me to dock a star. Next time I'm craving hotpot, Daimaru will absolutely be at the top of my choice list moving forward!

This time we had one that seems newer and she just didn't give us the amounts we requested so we had to keep reordering. I suspect it's because they are told to keep numbers low to reduce waste. Usually a good staple restaurant in Markham but our most recent visit was a disappointment…read more Food was pretty mediocre. The worst was the beef sashimi which had the gnarliest grey colour (ykno the colour when meat is leftover sitting in the fridge for way too long) and had no sear at all either. Sushi temperature was much too warm and the variety was pretty basic for the 2 person platter. Shrimp tempura was good tho - not too oily and not overcooked. The restaurant was extremely hot inside, the A/C was no where near the right temperature for how hot it's been this summer. It was also extremely noisy inside since the restaurant is relatively small - not really a place for a quiet, lowkey meal.

The set came with 2 large botan ebi (so sweet and delicious, head on), uni on a shiso leaf (a little fishy even though it's usually my favourite), salmon belly, yellowtail, snapper, and scallops. Each piece of fish was so thick that the meal was incredibly filling for one. For $32/18 pcs, it was a great deal, especially for the premium cuts of fish and the size.

Tastes exactly the way I thought it would. Which is internal organ like but in an unpleasant creamy way. Duck liver raspberry toast: Nice but could be bigger. The raspberry brought an expected nice sweetness to the nice liver taste. A little more raspberry would be nice. Tuskune and egg yolk dip: It's ok but not that big a deal. Cheese momo: Fantastic. The swiss cheese is an excellent pairing to the chicken. Skin-Kawa - Delciious. Crispy. Must have, Hiza (knee cartidlidge): nice and crunchy Beef short rubs boneless: Was enticed due to the tendon part. It was nice but not incredible. Beef tenderloin + Chimichurri: Wife's favourite. We always order several of these. P-toro: Another must repeat. Great pork belly taste. Cherry tomato bacon maki: New and delightful. Bacon wrapped cherry tomatoes provide a delightful burst of tomatoey sweetness wrapped with the unctuousness of bacon. Lamb rib chop: Excellent and tasty. Once again everything was cooked perfectly and the amazing binchotan smoke made everything delicious. Fun fact, they put charcoal in the free water carafes as well.

There are only about 4 to 5 spots in the front, and while there are some smaller plaza parking lots nearby and another parking lot across the street, most of the spots are marked for whatever store they're in front of, so park at your own risk. Upon entering, there aren't that many tables either. There isn't a lot of room for bigger groups but they can merge some of the tables together. The biggest issue for us was definitely how long and uneven the wait for the food was. We ordered at 12:15 PM and got our salads about 10 minutes later, but after that, the food came out pretty sporadically. The first actual dish didn't come until 12:44 PM, which was the tempura from the two-person set. Parts of the other meals and the rest of the two-person set slowly came out between 12:46 and 12:49 PM. The 30-piece sashimi and sushi set didn't arrive until 1:04 PM, almost 50 minutes after we ordered, and the actual salmon teriyaki which was just a small salad, salmon teriyaki and steamed rice from the bento was the last thing to come out at 1:09 PM, about 54 minutes after ordering. By that point, we had already finished the entire two-person set and another person had finished their udon and sushi combo. It's just not ideal when you're eating with a group and some people haven't even gotten the main part of their meal while everyone else is already finished. It also didn't seem like it was only our table. The table in front of us had a pasta order that seemed to have been missed. We heard the server say it was about to be ready, and then heard someone from the kitchen respond with something along the lines of, "There's another order for it?" So I do think the timing and communication between the kitchen and servers is something they need to improve on. We were served our salads first, but didn't get our miso soups until we asked for them. They were planning to serve them with the meals, but since we had already been waiting so long, we ended up just asking if we could have them first. For food, I got the two-person lunch set for $52, which came with a large veggie udon, 9 pieces of sashimi, 6 pieces of sushi, an additional 6 pieces of a classic roll, and tempura. We chose the spicy scallop maki for our roll. The sushi and sashimi were good, and the tempura was good as well. The veggie udon was a little disappointing though. It had one bok choy, a few pieces of mushroom, and then was mostly just strands of onion. The spicy scallop maki was also just okay since I couldn't really taste much scallop. Price-wise, I do think it's a little on the higher side for what you get. The quality was good overall, but for the price I would've liked a little more, especially considering the wait. Between how difficult parking is and how long and unevenly the food came out, I'm not really in any hurry to return. I think the wait bothered me more because we were eating as a group, and by the time two people finally got their food, the rest of us were completely finished. If they can improve the timing of getting everyone's meals out somewhat together, it would make the experience a lot better. 5% off with cash.
