Extremely hesitant to accuse anyone of theft, I turned the room and my suitcase upside down trying to locate it. I waited and an unattended front desk for over 10 minutes that night to report the missing item. Finally, I headed back to my room for the night. The next morning I informed the front desk of the theft and my name and number were taken with a promise that the manager would call me as soon as he arrived. At 5pm, no phone call, so I called them. No manager, but a message was taken. Saturday, Sunday, Monday and now, today, Tuesday.....I've called every day with no success or returned call. This hotel staffs thieves and will not assume responsibility (or even the decency for a returned call) for their employee's actions. I will continue to call and continue to leave negative reviews until this issue is resolved. UPDATE: On behalf of the manager, a young man named Brett called me back (finally?!?!?!) and informed me that the hotel would like to offer me an $80 credit to the card on which I purchased my room. This just happened, so I have not actually seen the credit, but it's a step in the right direction for sure. I've updated my rating to 4 stars........it took a lot of time and effort on my part and I still have not heard from the manager. You can't control all of your employees, but at the end of the day, the Hampton Inn made it right. It was definitely an inconvenience, but it's not nearly as bad as some of the horror stories I've heard about others who have had things taken from housekeeping. I am satisfied with the end result.

But since it's coming up on Halloween, it's fitting I share the horror....the horror. I found this establishment on the internet. It was listed with all the other Sheridan lodgings. I thought, Hampton inn, why not? It's an upscale national brand. A click and I was presented with a number of price options. Naturally I clicked on the most economical. Hey what can I say, I've got Scottish blood running through these veins. My price choice was on Snaptravel. $12 bucks less expensive than the others. Nice. When I checked in, the desk clerk searched the computer, and said, "Oh, you booked with another company, one minute please". A minute later I was handed my room cards, and on my way I went, to what was to be a chamber of horrors . First thing I usually do is to open the curtains to let in the light, and look at the view. Oops, that didn't work, very little light, and a view reminiscent of what Charlie Manson may have seen out his prison window. Check out the picture below. Well, you can't win em all. Later in my stay I had to use the bathroom. Unfortunate for me, cause it was there that I met the ghosts of Hampton past and present. Filthy. Ugh. Hair to the left of me, trash to the right. On the wall, smudges of poop. I won't be meeting the ghost of Hampton future, nor should you. Remember, I warned you. Quick Tip: Use the Snaptravel price if you dare. I think since you're getting the cheapest price, they reward you with the worst rooms. I'm not going to use that option anymore. I can only handle Halloween once a year.

The hotel is beautifully preserved with so much authentic character, history, and charm everywhere you look. We loved exploring the historic saloon, antique decor, creaky wooden floors, and all the incredible stories connected to the hotel. It was amazing knowing legends like Buffalo Bill Cody, Calamity Jane, Teddy Roosevelt, Butch Cassidy, and the Sundance Kid all spent time here. You can truly feel the history throughout the building. The staff was friendly, welcoming, and passionate about the hotel's history, which made the experience even better. The atmosphere was cozy, unique, and unlike any modern hotel experience. We also really enjoyed walking around downtown Buffalo since the hotel is perfectly located right in the heart of town. The waitress flung them in front of us and said "here's your wings". No plates, no napkins. There were probably not even 1 pound of wings in the basket. The menu said 2 pounds. No one ever came to see how our food was or if we needed anything else, like another drink. We had to ask to get napkins and that seemed to be a chore for her. After finishing our food, the bartender walked by three times looking at the empty basket but never asking if we needed anything or taking the basket away. He had written several books about the culture and history of Native America and created the company after receiving numerous calls from people about visiting the places and people that he had written about. Our two-week tour was spent visiting the Navajo and Hopi reservations in Arizona. As someone who has had next to no real knowledge about the Native American Indians I was intrigued and enchanted by this experience. Not only did we visit all the major sites - Grand Canyon, Monument Valley, Montezuma Well, Montezuma Castle, Canyon de Chelly (and may more!) - we were able to "see" them through native eyes by learned and learning about the indigenuous culture, history, and spirituality in this region. This was such an interesting and rewarding way to tour Arizona Coming from a demanding and fast paced job, this was certainly a welcome, and surprisingly delightful, retreat! We learned how to play dice games, how to kill a bear (should i ever need to), and put lots of dollar bills in the juke box. Not only is this a wonderful bar to hang out it, the front of it is also a liquor store. And there's a side window beside the bar which acts as a DRIVE THROUGH LIQUOR PICK UP WINDOW. And if all that doesn't make this the best bar experience ever, there was a friendly wiener dog in attendance for most of the night, too.
