Black Tooth Brewing - Black Tooth Wyoming Ale! - Bars Near Me - Sheridan, Wyoming

I have had Black Tooth Brewing beer before at their Cheyenne location but it was only recently where I paid a visit to their location in Sheridan. I purchased their 1314 Barrel Aged Anniversary Ale for 2023. This Ale has had apparently a couple different versions and I believe they get discontinued once the anniversary for the business has passed and stock has run out. Which I suppose accounts for the extra cost I spent here for this beer and maybe some bragging rights since the beer is now out of production. This Ale is categorized as a Strong Ale of English style and it certainly lives up to that description very, very well. Flavor highlights with this beer are Boozy, Strong and Bourbon flavors and essences. The beer comes in at 11.7% ABV and it certainly feels it but if you are in the mood for a nice, strong beer then the 1314 is definitely a good candidate but snatch it up if you see it since it isn't consistently available. I imagine however there will be 2024 version coming out in which it could be slightly different. read more

I was passing through Sheridan with my spouse and baby daughter (who can't walk or talk yet) on 9/18 and noticed the brewery so I stopped in. We went inside, which was empty except for 1 person and a dog, and went up to the bar. We told the girl working we had never been there before and she answered all our questions, let us sample beers before choosing, and once we ordered our beer and paid, she asked us if we wanted to sit inside or outside. It was hot so we said inside, and only then did she tell us we wouldn't be allowed to stay inside the building because babies aren't allowed in the bar. If this is truly the policy, why were we even allowed inside the building, and why did she wait until after we had paid to tell us? I wouldn't have bought anything if I knew we wouldn't be allowed to actually be inside and I think she deliberately didn't tell us until we paid to try to get a tip which was what really irritated me. I called another Brewery down the street and they had absolutely no issues with all 3 of us sitting inside. I reached out to the brewery twice to talk to them about my experience and never got a response so this company doesn't seem very customer-service oriented or professional. read more

This was a nice little place! You order food from their truck outside but the beer inside. They have flights in 4 and 8. The waitress was super helpful with finding beers we may like. Fortunate to have been able to tag along for the Bighorn Country Classic Bike MS Wyoming ride. The ride packet pickup was here at the brewery, which gave me the perfect excuse to try a beer. The indoor area is rather large with a tall ceiling and decorated with ALL their banners from beer competitions. There is a pretty good sized elevated band stage area and a couple of chalk boards detailing a food truck schedule and upcoming events. It's pretty obvious that these folks are very involved in their community. As for the beers, their menu boards had a good selection of differing ales, IPA's and lagers, but it was their barrel aged stuff I wanted. Unfortunately, their 1314, an English Strong Ale was sold out on tap. Fortunately, the server alerted me that it was available in a can. While it didn't have the rich head, it was very smooth and at 11.6% ABV, it certainly had its intended effect! There's also a nice patio area just in front with three rather large tall tables, another slightly smaller table and a couple of lounge chair. We had a couple of malamutes with us and they also had a bowl of water for them! We also went back the next day and had the Empress, a Russian Imperial Stout and the Lazy Hazee, a hazy IPA. They are all yummy. I can't decide which one is my favorite; the brown or the wheat... Walked in, in the middle of the day to get a private tour from their awesome Assistant Brewer Master, Steve. It was "canning day" & being able to watch the process was pretty awesome! Didn't realize just how large the facility really is. Their "private party" area really is a good size room to hold events. After a discouraging evening in town trying to find a place to eat (everything seems to close early on Sunday evenings) we found ourselves at Black Tooth. While they don't sell food, their bartender Emily saved the day with her welcoming and friendly demeanor. The beer was also excellent which also helped. Highly recommend their 307 lager. We had to try out all the breweries in Sheridan, and this was our least favorite. We're IPA fans, and they only had one available (Hot Streak). While it was a decent IPA (3 on a scale of 5), it wasn't worth the visit. The bartender (a woman with long black hair) never once smiled at anyone in all the time we were there. It's interesting they'd hire her as a customer-facing person, when the other workers seemed very happy. There are lots of breweries and bars in Sheridan, and lots of beers to choose from. These cats are making some good beer for a small town. No, they are making some good beer for the Northern Rockies. No, they are making some good beer, period. I'd buy it in the cans. Look for their cans in your nearest LiQuor DistriButor. Not sure where they are distributing, but they are hand and shoulders above any brewery I have had in WYO. Much better than Snake River in my opinion. If you beer, you have to check it out. Reviews based on Taps, not cans -- listed in order of recommendation: Black IPA (Summer 2013) -- really, impressive. This is one of the better Black IPA's I have had. Sort of toasty malt, nice hop character. Really smooth, silky body. Filled a growler of this. Go get some why it is still in season. Indian Paintbrush -- nice, mellow IPA. Not Northwestee. Little herby/floral. Nice malt. Could use a little more hop back. Very drinkable. Wagon Box Wheat -- pretty good. Needs a little work. Think the body needs a little work as it is a little thin. Think they need to reduce the filter on this and make a slight more cloudy, "thick" wheat. That said, very drinkable. No EZ (on tap in Ft. Fun). But, good! Bomber Mountain Amber -- this was pretty good as well. Having spent a lot of time riding the Fat Tire in the mid-90s, I have not been big on Amber for a piece, but this is pretty good. Does not have the "syrup" character that many Ambers seem to exhibit. Could use a little more malt and a little less "sweet". Nice color. Add some toast? That might make it steep, like Bomber. Pronghorn Pale -- needs a little more hop. Needs a bit more body. Decent. Needs some fine tuning. Change the hops a bit? I didn't get to try their summer Pils and Session, which was a bummer as I do enjoy a summer Pils. Non-Beer stuffL Space -- Really nice. Right their in the old Pool Dealership. Brick in all directions. Nice, open space. 15 barrel tanks in full view. Cooler full of cans. Big bar. Friendly service. Cheap taps. Really like the Growler Museum up in the rafters. Memories! Did I mention something like an 8 dollar growler if you have glass? WOW! Worth the buckaroos. Highly recommend! PS. Blacktooth owners...you need to get some signs...I know you from having been around the Sheridan-Bighorn block; but otherwise, you guys are playing hide-n-seek. I was at the Pony right after and heard about 10 Sturgis bound talkin' the "unfindable local brewery". Sturgis bound are going to drink your beer. Get them signs up for the Michigan elk hunters...those cats drink Two Hearted like a mofo an will take the word back to the lands of 10,000 Lakes, UPs, Cities of Big Shoulder and you can start shippin' them 12oz cans East on the Burlington Northern. When I first visited Sheridan I was at a local bar and noticed that a lot of people drank Bud lights and Ultra lites. I couldn't believe it. Especially when I requested from the Bartender to pour me a local brew. That's when I was introduced to Blacktooth Brewery. I had their Amber Ale and it we great. A very well balenced Amber that I found to very tasty and refreshing. On my next trip I went to the brewery itself and tasted everything they had. It was all good. Upon my first sip of a Hot Streak IPA I frantically called the attentive barkeep over in panic, as I was certain she mistakenly served me liquid diamonds or the tears of a unicorn. I had no idea how I was going to pay for such a heavenly potion. But seriously, if you are in the greater Sheridan/Buffalo area, there is no alternative to Black Tooth. All the beers are great, the staff is attentive and friendly, and they take real pride in both the product they serve and the community at large. There are two (2) other breweries in the area (Mishap! and Luminous), but they can only dream of reaching the levels of quality and deliciousness that Black Tooth serves up daily. For the average joes to real beer snobs, THIS IS THE ONLY PLACE YOU NEED TO BE IN THE AREA. read more

I love this place. The atmosphere is great, it's just busy enough at all times but usually not stuffed; and they always have the beer I like. I personally think it is so cool that we have such a successful brewery out of little Sheridan, Wyoming. To me their beer tastes a bit metallic out of their cans but on drought it tastes GREAT. Don't get me wrong. I'll still drink it out of a can, but if you go to the brewery, you'll surely not be disappointed. If you're looking for a place to get fall down drunk, like, smash your head against the bar as you plummet to the floor good timey old fashioned drunk.. you could indeed do that here. Not saying that's a good idea, but that's up to you. The Lazy Hazy is very tasty, as is the Bomber Mountain, the Copper Mule, the Saddle Bronc. Heck, all their beers are hashtag epic. Despite a previous review finding fault with the cleanliness of the restrooms, I found them to be quite suitable for peeing in, and getting back to the next pint of hoppy liquid goodness. Whatever ya do.. don't drive home after visiting here. Sheridan PD frowns on that. So there ya go, head on down to Blacktooth and, hashtag "Drink the West!" read more

Excellent brew pub! All their beers are good and quite heady. My favorites are the Saddlebronc Brown Ale and the Indian Paintbrush Ale (IPA). They don't serve food but they welcome people to bring or order in their own. There often seems to be a constant stream of deliveries from various local eateries. I like this as it keeps the place fresh. You can eat something different every time you go. They sometimes have live music. Outdoor seating when the weather is nice. I've been going here from time to time since they opened and it has stood the test of time. In fact, it has gotten better! Their beers are continually winning awards. read more

The BikeMS crew uses this for their registration location, and it's a great choice! There's a beer for just about anyone, plenty of seating, and very friendly and helpful staff. The crew handles the massive influx of cyclists and their families with a smile, and you never feel rushed. They've got clean restrooms, and it's close to restaurants (if the food trucks aren't around). It gets a little noisy with the band outside, but overall, it's a cheerful atmosphere for all.
