We met with a Kolb representative at our home 4 weeks ago. We spoke about having 2 mini splits installed with everything else that goes along with that. Two weeks after our meeting they got back to us with a quote which we agreed on and wanted to move forward. From that moment on they stopped all communication with us.They never return our phone calls, or emails. So disappointed and frustrated with this company! If they can't do the job, just tell us. Would never recommend them...ever! read more

Have lived in the area for 12 years, and Kolb has been consistently responsive and with service people that continue to amaze me with their expertise - no matter what the issue. Our combination heating/air conditioning units, our propane water heater, our thermostats...over the years we have had to deal with a number of issues - and, unfortunately, usually on the weekends. Their service techs are quick to appear, quick to diagnose the problem and will usually have whatever part is necessary, or will know how to get it usually within hours. The most recent visit was our hot water tank that wouldn't ignite. After watching numerous YouTube videos on how easy it would be, I realized none of the water tanks looked like mine - so made the phone call to Kolb. Turns out I have an automatic pilot! The technician was a bit mystified by the electrical setup of my unit at first, but when I checked in on him a bit later, I found him blowing through a straw - apparently to somehow bypass the automatic feature to test whether the tank was functioning without it. He determined that a small sensor needed replacing - and he would be able to order it first thing Monday morning. Turning off the lights preparing to go to sleep for the night, I noticed a Kolb truck pulling into the driveway - the technician had searched and found the needed part in another service van - and returned to service the water heater so I would have hot water for the weekend (and the next morning). No tip is big enough for this kind of 'neighborly' service. read more

Refused to service our heat pump because we were not a regular customer. Heat pump was put in not long ago so we did not have a problem with it until now. How do u become a regular customer if they refuse to service you? I always thought in business it was a good idea to increase your customer base but I guess I was wrong. Would NOT recommend this independent rude company! read more

Lost heat in the addition of home I bought last month. Called Kolb when I saw their sticker on the heating unit. Customer service explained they were very busy and prioritizing customers with no heat first. When I explained my bedroom living and kitchen were the part of the house with no heat, they said they would try their best. A few minutes later, Mike the service manager called me to assess the problem. I explained as much as I could and they sent someone immediately. The tech Marvin was great and traced the problem to My electric panel and fixed it in less than hour. Very impressed with their service. read more

This company serviced our AC. I believe they may be competent. However upon receipt of the invoice I called to inquire about the scope of work. The service manager Mike was rude, unnecessarily insulting and condescending. In our discussion he offered to reduce our invoice to "cost" for the part, I refused his offer and will pay in full. By paying in full I feel like I have the opportunity to post how unpleasant my experience was and also to share an important lesson: not every customer inquiry is an attempt to reduce the invoice and one day hopefully you will understand the importance of respecting others. read more

Bizarre irrational speak, unreliable to appointments. Contradictory representations on build of duct work to be completed after accepting deposit. Accepts deposits on agreed contract then doesn't show up on agreed day and time. History of harrassment of customers by unprofessional conduct posted on Google maps ratings as well as yelp. Finally after weeks refused to preform the work. Forced to do charge back for business fraud on credit card deposit. I do not recommend this business. read more

I had a Lennox compressor that stopped working on occasion, then kicked in again for no apparent reason. Ruled out electrical problem. Kolb examined it and said I needed a new compressor last fall. 1 - Requested estimate in fall 2016. Had to call repeatedly to get it. Estimate arrived 4 mos. later. Had to call repeatedly to get it installed. Installed in April. UNBEARABLE PROCESS. 2 - Same problem recurred w/new Trane compressor in June. Called Kolb. No appt. for 8 wks. Explained problem to woman at Kolb, only HVAC person who ever told me that temp. can't be set below 68 degrees. Opened panel. Coils frozen. Left unit off 2 days, ice melted, it worked. Spent $3,800 on compressor I didn't need. Consolation is to remind myself it doesn't use coolant banned by EPA." 3 - Also had them install a downdraft vent. I'd buy the unit, send them specs to approve. Two restocking fees later, he chose a unit that fit. Project took six months. UNBEARABLE PROCESS. In fairness: Kolb's bid on the compressor was $500 lower than another bid. And they didn't charge me for the downdraft exhaust fan to compensate for $400 in restocking and shipping fees. read more
