Ordered the Yakisoba, the Hot pot, and two hot buns. Excellent flavor. Have to go back and try the sushi, but for now I'm impressed.

There aren't many sushi places in the village of Islip, but I'd definitely say that this one is the best. Good food, nice servers, good prices. I love the sushi flight idea. You can taste more specialty rolls for a better price. Unfortunately, the specialty rolls aren't anything extra imaginative. I liked the bon bombs but they are overly hyped as well. The space is a little cramped but not bad. Quality of fish is good but I have had better. Had worse too. If I lived closer I would go here more often because the prices are good and the servers are very polite and helpful. The food is excellent too, just not better than anything else I've ever had. A new restaurant that just opened in Islip amid some serious fanfare and it did not disappoint one bit. First and foremost, the food was superb. I went with a family of 6 and we ordered an array of raw sushi and cooked meals. Everyone was supremely satisfied. The service was exceptional and the owner was visibly proud of his new, thriving restaurant. I will certainly keep this is the forefront of my local restaurant rotation. read more

I was not a big fan of sushi but once, me and my family get in this place to try and i love it now, food taste amazing, the combinations and variety is also one of my favorite things from there, and the service is always good. They also have a ginger tea that is amazing and one that is called hot yuzu tea that you're gonna love. read more

I liked the seaweed salad very much, but they didn't have Toro or Sea Urchin (even though they're both on the menu) so they're obviously not a serious sushi restaurant. However, my biggest gripe is with the service. They had one waiter who ran around like a chicken with its head cut off (even though the place is tiny), yet made us wait an inordinate amount of time for each stage of the meal. read more

We were so excited to see they had Tuna Poke on the menu. We enjoyed Poke in Hawaii last year and wondered why we never saw it on the menu's at Sushi places on Long Island. The Poke was fantastic here. We also tried the buns. (Fish and kimshi) They were great. We had the spicy tuna bon bombs and some mountain of goodness that I can't think of the name of it, but it was a mountain of crab meat on top of a roll. The service was great, weird to see 2 American waitresses in a japanese place, but they did a great job, until one asked us if we would like our "receipt." (instead of saying, would you like your check?) We had a chance to talk to Don, the owner who explained to us about his Japanese heritage. We had a nice conversation about Hawaiin Poke as well. The green tea after the meal was very tasty and Don explained that it had to do with an area where it is produced and something about the different kinds of rice they grow in the area. All in all, we were quite pleased with everything we ate and look forward to eating there again. There are so many options on the menu that we cant wait to try. The walls are a bit bare right now, as the place only opened a couple of weeks ago. I'm thinking, eventually there will be more Japanese decor adorning the walls in the following weeks. Also, the sushi chef was sporting a very fashionable pair of glasses, not that that has anything to do with his ability to prepare sushi, but he was fun to look at. read more

First time trying the food here. We got it to go. The sushi was amazing!!!! My husband and I both enjoyed the salmon and tuna rolls. Husband got the grilled eel and avocado roll and soft shell crab and avocado roll and said it was fabulous! The shrimp tempura was delicious. Honestly probably the best sushi I've ever had. Sometimes sushi can be hard to distinguish from place to place but the sushi here certainly stood out and was certainly more "artsy" than other places. The crunch and the sauces they put over the sushi also makes it more interesting. I also had the Kokoro chicken wings which is supposed to be their form of Bon chon chicken, a signature Korean dish. The flavor and the crunchiness was pretty similar, but they were small and I rather them offer an option for drumsticks like other Korean restaurants. Service was great. Comfortable atmosphere, friendly and incredibly knowledgable staff, delicious FRESH food, and a spacious dining area. You will not feel cramped or uncomfortable here. The food always comes out quickly and the waitresses are fast to accommodate you. I have yet to try a dish from Koi Kokoro that I have not enjoyed and I would HIGHLY recommend the ramen bowls. Excellent dining experience!! The food is delicious, whether you go for their fresh, creative sushi or for the soups, tempura, and other warm dishes from the kitchen. The wait-staff were continuously attentive to anything we needed. And when we received the bill, we were pleasantly surprised how light the meal was on our wallets. This place is incredible. There are a plethora of sushi restaurants in the area but Koi Kokoro knocks them all out of the park. The sushi is delicious, different, and fairly priced. The ramen is by far my favorite and the pork buns are great too. You would have to go to the city to find something comparable. The greatest thing, which is pretty rare on the island, is that you can order and pay online and they will deliver amazingly delicious Japanese food right to your door. Great sushi ! The Bon bombs are amazing. I must also recommend the pork belly buns! The pork belly is cooked perfectly , soft bun, and plenty of flavor. I'm not particularly blown away by some of the rolls that have the chopped Kani salad or spicy tuna mix. It seems like it was made earlier in the day and they scoop it out of a container to put on top of rolls. They don't taste bad , but it kinda takes the freshness away from those rolls. The Raman noodles are great , I tried the spicy special , it was pretty good, but had no spice at all to it . Overall the sushi is very good, staff is friendly and attentive and I'm defiantly a repeat customer. read more

So happy to have a great sushi place in Islip. My new go-to place for take out. Plan on eating in one day. I have tried the Boms and assorted rolls. All excellent. Love the tuna pizza! When I dine in I am going to get ramen bowl, heard it is great. When I pick up sushi they always have cool music playing and the chefs interact with everyone, not just the diners. Not sure how big dine-in rolls are but take out rolls could be a little bigger. But hey I am always full after. read more

Decent food, horrible service!!! I am a regular customer and keep giving them chance after chance but now I'm done with them. They'll lose my $100 per week. Sumou or Aji in Bay Shore for me. This time after an hour and 15 minutes of waiting, I called back and they forgot to put our order in. After speak to her manager, the manager gets on the phone and says, "do you still want your food", it will be another 40 minutes. Without an apology or anything, just an "it's busy tonight". They are terrible. Another night, they sent the wrong order twice. I am so done with them. I'd definitely recommend Aji or Sumou. read more
