This outlet is part of Kohl's new "small store" strategy, and I can say that it certainly is clean and bright! Unlike the new Target at Bayshore, a lot of care was taken towards making you forget that this space used to be a Boston Store (though they did forget a sign that reads "Boston Store customer pick up" over on Michigan Street.
The operative word here is "small," this store is quite tiny; I would say it's about the size of an Aldi, so if you're looking for a large variety of items, you won't find them here. They did do a decent job of making the small footprint work for them as it's not cluttered and there is plenty of room between the aisles.
Despite the size of the store, employees remain elusive. Since I used self-checkout, I only encountered one employee who happened to need something from the pet display I was perusing, and while she did say "Hi," she didn't ask if I needed help with anything, which seems like a missed opportunity.
There is a Sephora, that section is larger than all of the Men's clothing, seems like they did not skimp on size in that category! Another nice bonus is that you can enter the store through the 3rd Street Market Hall or from the street on Wisconsin Avenue.
While there is work to be done, I hope that this is just the first in a long line of retailers rediscovering downtown Milwaukee! read more
