I tried Kogi for the first time while they were in Orange from the Rosita truck. They tend to be here on Saturdays pretty often but not always. They post the locations on their website a week at a time so check there instead of Twitter which is day of. When I got there right at 5, when they opened, there was two parties in front of me. While waiting for my food, about five more parties showed up so it was getting crowded quickly. It took about 10 minutes to get the food, but the order right before mine was a bit large. I imagine when they're really busy it can take quite awhile though. I only saw two people working, a cook and a cashier who helped the cook in between orders. We tried: Short rib tacos: really good. The sauce and the slaw taste great together. It was easy to see why this made them famous. Pork taco: I actually liked this more than the short rib. Flavor wise, probably one of the best pork tacos I've ever had. Short rib sliders: very similar to the taco but we preferred the taco. The slider was a bit too much bread and took away from the other flavors. Prices are fair for specialty tacos but their size isn't bigger than a regular $1 taco truck. So even with eating 2 tacos and 1 slider I still felt a little hungry. You won't be disappointed if you order too much. read more

Originally the brainchild of Roy Choi, Kogi has become the standard in Korean and Mexican fusion. It's been around since my college days and I have fond memories to heading down to a Kogi truck after classes to grab a burrito and head down to our Thursday car meet. It's still good! But it's has fallen from it's hay day. The burritos used to be much larger and stuffed with meat, but now seem to be mostly full of cabbage and kimchi with only a few pieces of meat spread throughout. I've stopped getting them altogether and have now "settled" for the blackjack quesadilla....which is still a delicious blend of cheese, kimchi, and spicy pork. Don't get me wrong, I'll still hunt down and grab Kogi every now and then. There isn't much in terms of delicious Korean/Mexican fusion and Kogi definitely hits the spot sometimes, I just wish it were as good as I remember it. read more

The sauce and the meat complemented each other really well and the spicy pork wasn't overwhelmingly spicy. Service was very quick and they take card. Would come back here again! I tried this in Venice today and I just ate it on my car. They're also doing Uber Eats deliveries from their truck if you don't feel safe going out to find the truck. Serving UCI, this food truck is the only source of warm food today. The hospital cafeteria, Annie's coffee and the hospital gift store are all closed down today. The Korean Mexican fusions works very well. We tried the chicken taco and short rib taco. Lots of fresh lettuce just tossed in a garlic chili sauce and sesame oil dressing on top of lean, moist and flavorful meat. The two corn tortillas are warm and wonderfully elastic, embracing the perfectly balanced proportions of meat and greens. It smelled so yummy I didn't want to wash my hands. One taco was satisfying. Kogi no matter where you venture your always amazingly scrumptious! Kinda random as we were talking about Kogi the other day and how long it had been since we payed them a visit I'm guessing at least 5 years or so since we had found the truck romping around the streets of Southern California. The tacos are awesome with their various unique concoctions I've had them before but this visit we only got quesadillas because they are simply too amazing to resist! Black Jack who doesn't like to play that or eat it in this case? It's green and full of meat with a Korean style twist to the way the sauce and the meat work together in between the tortilla and cheesy goodness! The Sweet Chili Chicken is of equal awesomeness to other quesadillas but it's sweet and spicy in it's own way that is always a radical thing to indulge on! Tres Leche Cake is a must like honestly I don't think I could come here and not get one of the small little chocolate kinda cake with a bit of cream in the middle to set the whole thing off! Love Kogi but I'm so disappointed with my experience Friday night. Planned a night around visiting the Rosita truck in Anaheim, which had a posted schedule of 5:30-8:30p. Got in line at 7:55p when the line was around 5 parties long. Around 8:05p, when we were still the last party in line, a gentleman came out of the truck and basically waved us off and said, "no more food." Literally told the couple in front of us that they were the last ones but just waved his arms at us and put the sandwich board up after that couple (which didn't have any closing info on it so we continued to tell people arriving that they weren't serving any more food while we stood there trying to figure out what to do). If they were genuinely out of food, he could have taken a minute to actually speak to us considering we'd already been waiting in line for a bit at that point, or even told us they could make a very limited menu. If they needed to actually leave at 8:30p (which is what it sounded like), the truck should post a "last order" time on the schedule and cut the line off sooner at the last person. Maybe this doesn't happen all the time and it was just an off night but what a bummer. read more

I haven't had Kogi in years. One being back when I used to get some, the lines were ridiculously long with over an hour wait. Kogi used to be such a major hype back in 2008 and they were good then. So when it has been almost ten years and I saw the Kogi truck parked in front of Best Buy, I knew i wanted to get some tacos. Boy was I disappointed. I should've guessed that either the hype was over (and I bet it probably is) and that they're not as good as they used to when I saw no one in line and no one around eating tacos. There used to be such a huge crowd around the truck, but a Thursday night, it was completely empty. Another downside is their prices increased tremendously and the portions are smaller! Burrito was a like half a size smaller with like $3 increase back from 2008. The quality is not the same at all. We got two tacos and one burrito and that was just about $15. Not really worth my money given how the quality wasn't good, meat was tough and dry, and the portions got small. I don't know if the quality varies based on truck or maybe the time of day, but this was not a good night for the truck. read more

From the sliders, to the tacos to the burrito you really can't go wrong. Even their desserts are to die for. There is sometimes a line, but these are definitely worth the wait. LOVE KOGI. This food truck sets the standard of food truck food. Everything they serve is delicious and unlike anything you've probably ever tasted. I love that you may not recognize all the flavors in whatever it is you're eating but you know it tastes good. By far my favorite thing I've eaten from the Kogi truck is a special they offer: the Pac-Man Quesadilla. Different meats, three different sauces, plenty of cheese, I cannot get enough. There is a possibility that you could order it regardless of whether or not it is listed as a special since they should have all the components on the truck at any given time since the dish itself is really just a "Frankenstein's monster" of some other menu items. They're easy to locate via their website and/or twitter. Food comes out fairly quickly. Food is consistent day to day, truck to truck. What are you waiting for? Go eat this! read more

You cannot get better tacos and burritos for the price. I have been to this truck several times, and was there again recently on a trip back to Long Beach after moving to the East Coast. The spicy pork rib is always savory, the service is always phenomenal, and the vibe is great. The service is prompt and friendly, and the only complaint I have is that they sometimes do not have their desert items. The Sriracha bar they sell is delicious, and I was a little disappointed that I could not buy one the last time I went. Really could have been better. Tried the Short Rib Taco and the Calamari Taco. The Short Rib Taco smelled great, but all of the flavor was in the salad topping and not much flavor in the meat.
