Kogi Truck @ Honda Center
Rachel Macie H.

Kogi no matter where you venture your always amazingly scrumptious! Kinda random as we were talking about Kogi the other day and how long it had been since we payed them a visit I'm guessing at least 5 years or so since we had found the truck romping around the streets of Southern California. The tacos are awesome with their various unique concoctions I've had them before but this visit we only got quesadillas because they are simply too amazing to resist! Black Jack who doesn't like to play that or eat it in this case? It's green and full of meat with a Korean style twist to the way the sauce and the meat work together in between the tortilla and cheesy goodness! The Sweet Chili Chicken is of equal awesomeness to other quesadillas but it's sweet and spicy in it's own way that is always a radical thing to indulge on! Tres Leche Cake is a must like honestly I don't think I could come here and not get one of the small little chocolate kinda cake with a bit of cream in the middle to set the whole thing off! This time around when we stumbled on to the Kogi Truck @ Honda Center wile we were at the Anaheim Ducks Watch Party so it was definitely a good place to grab some of the Kogi goodness who knows where and when we will find the truck again and then again!

Top is short rib tacos. Bottom is short rib sliders and pork taco. We preferred the tacos.

I tried Kogi for the first time while they were in Orange from the Rosita truck. They tend to be here on Saturdays pretty often but not always. They post the locations on their website a week at a time so check there instead of Twitter which is day of. When I got there right at 5, when they opened, there was two parties in front of me. While waiting for my food, about five more parties showed up so it was getting crowded quickly. It took about 10 minutes to get the food, but the order right before mine was a bit large. I imagine when they're really busy it can take quite awhile though. I only saw two people working, a cook and a cashier who helped the cook in between orders. We tried: Short rib tacos: really good. The sauce and the slaw taste great together. It was easy to see why this made them famous. Pork taco: I actually liked this more than the short rib. Flavor wise, probably one of the best pork tacos I've ever had. Short rib sliders: very similar to the taco but we preferred the taco. The slider was a bit too much bread and took away from the other flavors. Prices are fair for specialty tacos but their size isn't bigger than a regular $1 taco truck. So even with eating 2 tacos and 1 slider I still felt a little hungry. You won't be disappointed if you order too much.

I haven't had Kogi in years. One being back when I used to get some, the lines were ridiculously long with over an hour wait. Kogi used to be such a major hype back in 2008 and they were good then. So when it has been almost ten years and I saw the Kogi truck parked in front of Best Buy, I knew i wanted to get some tacos. Boy was I disappointed. I should've guessed that either the hype was over (and I bet it probably is) and that they're not as good as they used to when I saw no one in line and no one around eating tacos. There used to be such a huge crowd around the truck, but a Thursday night, it was completely empty. Another downside is their prices increased tremendously and the portions are smaller! Burrito was a like half a size smaller with like $3 increase back from 2008. The quality is not the same at all. We got two tacos and one burrito and that was just about $15. Not really worth my money given how the quality wasn't good, meat was tough and dry, and the portions got small. I don't know if the quality varies based on truck or maybe the time of day, but this was not a good night for the truck.

Short ribs taco (the best option)

Worth the drive in LA all the way from Vegas! Delicious Asian fusion tacos!! If You can't go wrong with their SHORT RIB tacos they're so smokey and flavorful!!! If you don't order them, you messed up. Three days later and I'm still craving. Please come to Vegas!!!

Incredible fusion food. Always great every time I've had it. Introduced my teen age son to it today abd he loved it. Keep it up!

Ask the Community - Kogi

What day does the truck come in the orange area?

It varies I believe. You'll have to check their schedule online.

The cookies were fresh, warm, and delicious, which made them even better. The workers were polite and fast, so the whole experience was easy and enjoyable.

Sadly disappointed with the Downtown Disney location. Family and I went to the Downtown Disney…read morelocation yesterday 2/22 and was sad to see that the experience was not the same as other locations. We've been a huge supporter and advocate of Cathy's Cookies for YEARS. We brag about them to all of our co-workers, friends and family across the US. We first learned of them at the LA County Fair where we actually met the husband and wife owners. Although prices have gone up, we still end up buying buckets every time we go. And yes buckets (plural) from them. Probably a minimum of 3-4. We've also followed them to Lowe's, Angel's stadium and Super A Foods parking lots. What addicted us was the crunchy buttery hot and chewy goodness you get in every bite. We love how the buckets are over flowing so much that the lid can't close so they angle the lid inside of the bucket sideways. You basically have to eat 4-5 cookies just to close the lid. Yesterday was just not the same. Here are what we experienced: 1. They ran out of bucket lids. How is that possible. Don't they come in a set? Thank goodness they didn't run out of buckets. It was only 4pm. 2. My 2 buckets were not overflowing, they weren't even filled to the top. Probably rookies to Cathy's don't even know the difference compared to the LA County Fair. 3. My cookies were not HOT and didn't seem fresh out of the oven. They were given to me too quickly. I know this because when we order it's always at least 2 minutes before they're ready. These were sitting on the counter and handed to me in seconds. 4. Odd and small shaped cookies. I know they're still good and readers are shaking their heads thinking I'm picky but we'll probably pass on the Downtown Disney location next time. I'm guessing it's probably because kids are running the location. The lines can get long there so they're probably scrambling to keep up with demand. I mean, I've had better at the Lowe's parking lot. If the owners are reading this, not trying to hurt your business, just trying to make you aware of how things are being run at that location. Guess we'll see you at the LA County Fair.
