We were at Flashpoint Brewing this weekend for a birthday celebration and we were so excited to try Kaya's. We were bummed they ran out of burgers by 5:30 but were still excited to try other things. Unfortunately, the person on the truck was extremely rude and short with a few of us that had questions about the menu. We ended up getting the strips and cheese and got dinner elsewhere. I tried 3 things off the truck so far: The hot dog (several months ago) which was really good - just how I like it, cut down the middle with a good char on it - but unfortunately they no longer have it. Also th habanero mac and cheese in which I thought the sauce was too thin but it had a really good flavor with a little kick. I liked it. And most recently strips and cheese because I wasn't that hungry but had to order something in order to drink beer at 4 Sons Brewery plus I read positive reviews and that it was "an HB favorite". Sorry, but for me it was a fail. The portion size was big but the cheese was not melted which is essential and makes all the difference. Worse yet the chili sauce which I expected to be savory with some heat like most salsas tasted like ketchup except even sweeter. It may have been acceptable for french fries but not for chips and cheese. No matter how good the chips are when they're paired with cold cheese and ketchup that just doesn't work for me. I threw well over half of the order away. What a waste. If I had been driving I would have taken it home and melted the cheese and used a good red salsa on it but I was walking so that would not have been feasible. That said, the service was great, the guy in the truck was really cool and friendly and I'd also like to try a couple more things and then adjust my rating accordingly. Fast forward a few months ago ...cheese quesadilla several weeks ago. Great crunchiness on the outside with a nice melted combo of cheeses on the inside. Kaya and Cut were the only food trucks available on the 2nd Anniversary weekend of local Four Sons Brewing: We opted for Kaya because we weren't in the mood for burgers. Kaya is a food truck offering philly cheese steaks (beef & chicken), pastrami, dressed up fries and mac & cheese. Its located on the Four Sons site on Gothard just North of Eliis in HB. We started off w/ fries ($4), and also ordered a chicken philly habañero cheese sandwich & a pastrami samdwich ($10/each). First of all, the fries were very good. They came out piping hot and were really crispy. Additionally, the portion was huge for the price. The only room for improvement would have been more seasoning: 4 Stars. On the other hand, the chicken sandwich was just OK. Unfortunately, the chicken was dry, and if you are not into spicy, you would not like this sandwich. My friend ordered the cheese on the side, and I used it as a dip for the fries. The beer couldn't quench the heat: 3 Stars. On the other hand, the pastami sandwich was really tasty. It was packed full of tender meat, and the portion was good for the price. The only downside was the bun broke at the crease and the sandwich was super messy: 4 Stars. The service was nice & friendly, and the food came out quickly: 4 Stars. I'd definitely indulge in Kaya's food the next time I'm at Four Sons. The food is tasty and goes well w/ good beer. read more

When drinking beers and watching NCAA basketball, sliders and fries are a must! Is there a coincidence that this food truck serves stoner food and is named after a Bob Marley album? I first encountered Kaya's Kitchen while drinking beers at Four Sons Brewing. The food truck/trailer sit right outside the giant garage doors of the brewery allowing for the intoxicating odor of fries to drift in and get your belly ready for some grub. I went full Pepé Le Pew and floated outside following the smell to the food truck. I ordered three smoky sliders and an order of Nico Fries. Everything came out fast with the fries being piping hot. The sliders came out on super soft brioche buns, were very juicy, and packed with tons of flavor. The fries were nicely salted with just a touch of spice; these went perfectly with the beers. Their menu is filled with crazy concoctions like habanero mac n' cheese, pastrami quesadillas, Jamaican Jerk Buffalo wings and other crazy concoctions that may have come from a few hefty bongs rips. We just had my husband's birthday party at Four Sons and had Kaya's Kitchen cater the food. It was delicious. We got tater tots, mac and cheese, breaded shrimp, wings and burger sliders and pastrami sliders. Danny was great to work with leading up to the event and on the night of. They set up in the Barrel Room and kept the food fresh and replenished. When the window for food was over, they packed up all the left over food in tins for us. We got to try out Kaya's kitchen when the food truck visited our gated community last week. Though there were quite a few interesting optional, we weren't really hungry and weren't looking forward to eating any meet so went with their Koa's veggie rice bowl to share between two of us. The grilled vegetables served over a bed of brown rice with their Jamaican sauce was delicious as well as healthy. The quantity was perfect for just one person and we have probably ordered another entree or something else as an accompaniment but we didn't want to waste any food. We will never get tired of Kaya's. My husband and I have deemed it our favorite food truck (and we are big food truck fans). To be honest we love Kaya's so much we sync up our four sons brewery visits with when their food truck is there! No shame in that game right? Kaya's Kitchen hasn't been on the streets too long. And you won't really find them all over, mainly just in Huntington Beach. And I don't know if it's every day, but they've taken up residence and spend most of their afternoon/evenings at Four Sons Brewing. We were meeting friends and there were plans to go to dinner so we didn't get to experience a full meal with the guys in the truck, but the 'snack' we had was enough to show that these guys have got a good thing going and I wish them the best. They have a pretty impressive menu for a small trailer, but one thing that we noticed was almost everything somehow included their famous habanero cheese sauce. And a lot of things had pastrami (or allowed you to add it to your dish). We had noticed the guy dropping off some mac & cheese at another table and we were intrigued. Especially when we read you could add pastrami bits too. The half serving was piled high with elbow noodles & pastrami. And he was kind enough to bring us two spoons. THAT SAUCE! I see why they include it in everything. It is super creamy - coating the pasta perfectly - and packs a punch. The spice is definitely there. It wasn't overwhelming to me (but I love spicy) but it did leave the afterburn on my palate. Cheese sauce can easily miss the mark for me and this one hit all the high points.
