Service was extremely slow and inconsistent. Servers never came around to see if we were happy or needed anything. We had to go find our own salt & pepper and ask for hot sauce one wanted multiple times. They were all pleasant enough, but servers didn't seem to know the menus well nor fully understand English. Food was randomly good/awful. We were a party of 4 couples, on NYE so it was very busy. We had reservations but weren't seated until 30 minutes late.
My husband & I ordered appetizers as our meal since we couldn't get anyone to tell us what was on the pu pu for 2 platter and didn't want to chance it that we wouldn't like much of it as happens too often. Others in our party ordered individual dinner dishes and 2 couples also ordered pu pu for two, intended as appetizers. After a long wait, half of our appetizers (a single eggroll, chicken fingers, and teriyaki beef,(part of what we'd ordered for our dinner) came out first, about 45 minutes after finally being seated, along with our 2 salads, and the 2 soups others had ordered. That meant that 3 were eating but there was NOTHING ready for the other 5 people. No complimentary bread, tea, or anything -- There was NOTHING and the servers just wandered off without any explanation as to when the rest of the food would be served. Since it was our meal and NOT intended as an appetizer, we had to begin eating our chicken fingers, and tiny salads. Plus, there wasn't enough to share with everyone, given that it was our dinner and that there were only 6 chicken fingers in all. We finished it and then there was another 25 minutes with STILL nothing else served for anyone. Finally, after an hour & 15 minutes from seating, other meals began to come out piecemeal. Again, there were 4 eating, 4 watching. Then the pu pu platters that were supposed to be appetizers finally came out. Strangely, there were different amounts of items on each one. It looked yummy, but it was odd not being identical. Unfortunately, only one was hot, while the other was quite COLD. The cold one was sent back to reheat. Then the first individual dinner plate came out. Then the pu pu platter that was cold was returned. STILL ICE COLD. Sent back again. Then our other appetizers finally came out. Still no pu pu platter returned. Finally, a server returned with it again, IT WAS STILL COLD on the inside, but slightly warm on the outside. They were so angry that they just kept it and tried to warm it up in flames that came on the platter. No one was impressed by their soup as it wasn't hot. The pu pu platters were generous and looked tasty, but one being served cold ruined that.
Part of one person's meal never came out and wound up being removed from the bill as 2 hours had passed since our arrival and she didn't want it anymore. Each time, we had to ASK where our food was. Service was TERRIBLE. It was like they were so discombobulated that they couldn't handle getting food cooked and out to tables on a timely basis. Who brings out food for 2 in a party of 8 and NOTHING for anyone else? Or brings out ice cold food three times?
On the upside, we were quite pleased with the pork fried rice, but they have only one size and served spread out on a large platter, it got cold quickly. It was much better than what passes for Chinese food around here. (We've lived here for 18 years and know that most Chinese restaurants aren't very tasty and have substandard food compared to more urban areas we've lived). Their teriyaki beef was quite delicious, as are their chicken fingers and egg rolls. Others in our party said the fried shrimp and chicken wings were wonderful. The batter on everything is light and not excessive, which really matters. Their Crab Rangoon was tasty, overfilled, and crunchy, but perhaps too overfilled for my taste, although everyone else was delighted with them. Their green salad with ginger dressing was excellent, although it was pretty small of a serving. The egg rolls are better than average for this area.
Our server was pleasant enough and did a great job of separating our bills for us upon our request at the beginning. The bills were correct.
It was too crowded of an evening (NYE) to have options about seating, but the view of the waterfalls by the windows is outstanding if you're able to request it.
Their food really is better than most Chinese options in the area, (which isn't saying that much given how awful most are around here), but their service when busy is seriously BAD and their kitchen is clueless about coordinating meals, which made for an extremely uncomfortable meal. If they could get their act together, they'd be really good. Until they do, I cannot give them more than 3 stars. read more
