Pricing is really reasonable... which allows you to indulge in some additional baked goods or one of their fun merchandise items like homemade dog treats, t-shirts, mugs, etc. I also like that they have a small shelf of books, records, and games if you want a little BFF time - with your bestie or for just yourself! I enjoy stopping in for refreshments and a little break from shopping on Lindbergh, or getting something to go to enjoy at home. Just watch your step at the doorway entry/exit. It's got a slight incline - so watch your step. I arrived early at around 8:15. This is a relatively small establishment with a small parking lot. It looks like they have a trailer available for mobile coffee service too. They were fairly busy and it seemed like only one person was working. This made the wait a bit longer than I expected, but the employee was working very hard and making good time considering she was alone. I enjoyed listening to the alternative music and hanging out in the store. It was clean and comfortable. I ordered one of their March specials, the Peanut Butter Guts, as I love coffee and peanut butter together. I also ordered a cookie from Cookie Hustle (which I think is like a sister business housed under the same roof) -- a pumpkin snickerdoodle. Sounded so good! I enjoyed my coffee drink. It definitely had a detectable and enjoyable peanut butter flavor, as well as the mocha. I think it was a tiny bit heavy on milk for my preference, but overall it was tasty. I ate the cookie later and it was absolutely delicious. Perfect chewy snickerdoodle texture and lots of yummy spices. I wish I'd gotten several different cookies to try more! When I showed up at breakfast with my coffee, my family remarked on how much they like this little shop and keep coffee from here at their house for special occasions. High praise! Another coffee shop would have pretended to have been in business since the 19th century, before the latte was even invented, but not Crema. It's got *integrity*. Anyway, no one would believe that anything here is older than a year or two. It all new-looking. It has a certain sheen to it, like somewhere where you'd pay $40 for a Yankee Candle at Plaza Frontenac. As I arrived today with members of my running group, an unhoused gentleman was being, erm, questioned out front by 12. He may have spent the night in the lobby of this apartment building. It just so happened to be right as Crema was opening. Did they report him to the authorities? Should they have given him a job sweeping the sidewalk out front like the wise old neighborhood drunk in the movie Do the Right Thing, the lovable old James? Instead of bringing him downtown, the police merely confiscated his drugs and sent him on his way. (I hope he wasn't late for work.) I wonder what they do with those drugs. I've seen the movie Bad Lieutenant. I didn't know whether to be disappointed or relieved that this place doesn't carry a burrito. I love a burrito more than I love most people, but maybe this is not the place to get a burrito. But I figured I probably couldn't go wrong with a breakfast sandwich. You can't make a bad breakfast sandwich. Even a Breakfast Jack is a good breakfast sandwich. They certainly charge a premium for their breakfast sandwich. I figured this would be a situation where they charge you money out the ass for hardly any food. I was willing to take the hit anyway, for the sake of citizen food journalism, and also because I'd just run umpteen miles. Come to find out, this thing is roughly the size of a football. Its appearance is more along the lines of a torta, the hefty sandwiches from which portly Hispanic girls get their nickname. Alas, it was just okay. The croissant was ginormous but of middling quality. If it were the same size and as rich as the croissants at Comet Coffee, it would be roughly 10,000 calories, so that may have been for the best. The bacon tasted oddly similar to a Ball Park hot dog, in both a good and bad way. They give you plenty of it, but I suspect they still come out ahead. The eggs would have been fine if they'd been salted. In theory, the salt from the bacon and the cheese would have carried over to the eggs, but I don't know if I have a refined enough palate for that to be the case. I approve of a Breakfast Jack, after all. I'm willing to accept the fact that the Horchata Latte may have just been a bad order on my part. I may have needed to specify some type of syrup so that it was sweeter than it was and I didn't realize that, because what do I know about fancy coffee drinks? Or I might just not like horchata, with which I have minimal experience. They carry a gooey butter cake latte, and I should have gone with that. It was calling my name the way crack calls the guy they called the cops on. Which brings me to the Gooey Butter Cake Edges, which caught my eye in the pastry case, as if my sandwich and drink alone weren't caloric enough. I like gooey butter cake (natch), and I like the idea of "cake edges." Would this be along the lines of those brownies that are all corners? It kinda was, except that the crust wasn't quite as crisp as you'd like it to be. I don't think these were the actual edges of a gooey butter cake. They may have just been leftover cake batter baked into strips. It was still delicious, because it was gooey cake. The actual gooey butter cake may have been better. Again, I'm willing to take credit for what may have been a mistake on my part. Like the lovable old James, we all make mistakes sometimes. Crema has only been around for a few years, so I'm sure it's only a matter of time until they get their few issues ironed out. The decor is already top notch.

The menu is clear, they sell their own coffee beans, and a local bakery supplies their goods. I was warmly greeted by the owner, and gave me some time to consider something from the winter menu or their regular menu. I ended up going for the S'mores Mocha Latte, and it came out fast! Great flavor, the syrups were not overpowering the latte, and the milk was perfectly aerated! Great spot, and can't wait to come back!

I'd attend such a meeting, but more so for the lulz (but also to share my beliefs). I'm pleased to report that there's none of that going on here, that I'm aware of. Granted, this was a Sunday morning. I was there with my running group as part of our ongoing unofficial breakfast burrito tour, the last such stop until this fall, due to upcoming marathon training. Of course it was the most unpleasant day of the year, maybe ever, with a heat index of 117 (no hyperbole). I changed shirts before I came in and then sweated through that shirt as well. One of the ladies I was with left a gross pool of sweat in her chair after she left. It didn't occur to me to pull a Charlamagne tha God until hours later. I'm growing as a human being. Part of that growth is gradually coming to realize that seasonal lattes, unless they have sort of especially distinct flavor, like banana, aren't going to taste like anything other generic artificial sweetener, let alone what they purport to be. I considered ordering an iced caramel latte, but I figured what the heck. I went with something called a Miso Brown Sugar Latte. It was good for what it was, but I don't know that anyone, if you gave it to them to try, could identify it as that. I liked the fact that it had a somewhat more pronounced coffee flavor, compared to some places where it mostly just tastes like a glass of milk. I wasn't as crazy about the fact that it took a while for the ice cubes to cool it down, probably longer than it would have taken if it were served in a glass cup. I went with something called the Annex Burrito, which I didn't realize until after I ordered it is not the only burrito they carry. I guess you can also get a bog-standard breakfast burrito with bacon, eggs and cheese. This one comes with corn, beans and some sort of unidentified crema for the same amount. Maybe they give you less bacon. Mine didn't have a lot of bacon, but the bacon it did have was not crisp and had a precooked vibe. The latter was more of an issue for me than the former. I'm a savage in that way. I did appreciate the fact that it was griddled, possibly using a panini press. The exterior was ever so slightly crisp, while the interior was pizza roll-level molten. The overall vibe was similar to those microwave burritos they used to carry at 7-11, but in a good way. All I needed was a mini truck enthusiast magazine filled with photos of bikini-clad Latinas and a Windex-blue Slurpee, but I was able to make do with a lukewarm mystery latte and the old ladies I run with. I'm resourceful.
