I contacted this company as they had created the original survey of my property by the original builder, and I reasonably expected they would be the most efficient resource to create a new survey. I agreed to pay full price, including a rush fee, though they had the advantage of already having (their words) a "very thick file" on my property. They failed failed to show up when promised, failed to communicate their delay, and when questioned Steve Koestner was dismissive and condescending about the matter. He was unable to commit to a date when the (already delayed) work could start, and had an issue with doing the work to the spec originally agreed upon (septic features marked, as per originally communicated needs). They wasted my time, took no accountability, caused needless delays to my project, and were rudely dismissive going so far as to hang up the phone when Steve acknowledged he would not be able to do the job after all. read more

My neighbor used these guys and the service was completely terrible. They drive a spike through my new driveway with no explanations as to why and no apology of any kind. Can't even respond to and email or phone call. I would never recommend this company to anyone, complete joke. read more

Koestner Associates is unreliable, unresponsive, unprofessional and just plain frustrating to deal with. I need this survey ASAP to get a permit to start work on the house as the contractor is waiting, which I explained to Steven. Steven said I'd have it the survey in few days and not to worry, but I still don't have it two weeks later. I emailed Steven several times asking when the surveyor is coming (no response) so I call them and he keeps telling me they'll come (no solid date). There's only so many times I can email them and call them before I get totally frustrated. I call their office again and this time they put me through a guy named Frank. He confirms what I already know, that the surveyor still hasn't come and that "he'll put me at the top of the pile." To express my frustration, I tell Frank that Steven never replies to my emails or gets back to me and Frank tell me, "We get 150 emails every day!" Seriously, the dumbest most unprofessional excuse I have ever heard. Apparently, they can't make their clients happy, because they *can't handle* the 150 emails that are coming in. *Eyes Roll* The professional thing to say would have been, "Sorry to keep you waiting, we'll be there asap." When the surveyor finally showed up, he didn't ring the bell, so I had no idea someone was even on my property. I opened my back door for some fresh air and he suddenly appeared from behind the door, so I totally assumed he was a burglar!! RING THE BELL BEFORE YOU COME ON TO SOMEONE'S PROPERTY!! Apparently, he thought no one was home, even though my car is in the driveway and all of my windows are open. In a nutshell, I finally got the survey but overall it wasn't a pleasant experience. The people at the office were rude, unresponsive and unreliable. The surveyor could be mistaken for a burglar. Would not recommend. Hire someone else and save yourself the frustration. The only saving grace was their receptionist - she was courteous and pleasant to deal with. read more

Called and spoke to Steve. He gave me a price over the phone and when I went in to sign the papers it was about 30% more than quoted. I didnt feel comfortable with the misquote so they didn't get my business read more

Horrible customer service from the entire staff starting from the secretary up to the owner Steve! They quoted my wife from $225-$275 since everything was done by a previous survey, all the stackes were set before them, they didn't have to do anything ... we just needed something written for the town to allow us to continue with the fence since we had an issue with our one neighbor...They came to my house after making me wait around; no one rang the bell, they finished the job in probably 5 or 10 min which was the time my wife wasn't near the window due to watching the kids... he then makes up some bull stating they were outside for over 3 hours with going back and forth with the town! (That was a Lie!!). He juiced up the bill to $395. After trying to reach Steve so many times he picked up a few times and kept saying let's talk another time in a few weeks and kept pushing it back... Long story short calling back for 10 months trying to pay he says fine just pay $250 and let's settle this thing (mind you this was dealing with him being in the phone for 7+ times and kept pushing it back)... Now receiving a bill for the balance after calling them, Steve got on the line and said whatever he said okay for the amount but tells me don't call us again and hung up (I would never call them again regardless! They harass you with false bills and statements!!!!)... so I called back to get something stating that I paid the full amount which was okayed by Steve! Lady says no we can't it's not paid in full and hangs up on me! Horrible company, sounds like the owner doesn't care about his business or life and probably on his way out of this business! We Surveyed our property with a fantastic survey company. However, Our neighbors used this company -Koestner Associated -to survey their property. Not only did they do an incorrect survey, but they put incorrect markings down and then refused to fix the issue. The neighbors also refuse to make this all correct and want to put up a fence using the incorrect markers ...on our property! The survey company refused to take our calls, show us their survey or remedy the situation. I strongly suggest you stay away from doing business with this company. WOW. I am having the EXACT same run around from Koestner now as did M.K. from bergenfield. The only difference is that I still DON'T have my survey after 3 weeks and they are charging me $125 extra for CAD. No one in this day and age does a survey by hand and that was my assumption. Previously they charged me $150 for 2 copies of the 1991 survey and then they again charged me $650 for the exact same survey from 1991 with date changed on top. WHAT A RIP OFF. I wish I had read the review before I gave them the work. I just gave them the work because they had done the original survey back in 1991. read more

Koestner Associates is very unreliable, unresponsive, unprofessional and just plain frustrating to deal with. I had to copy the M K. because that is how I really feel dealing with the owner Steven Koestner and his associates. It has been over a year since we have asked him to do our site planing and plans for the building we purchases. Now its over a year and we still have not been able to move into our building all because of Koestner Associates. They have received all the paper work from City of Hackensack to revise the plan and specifically gave them directions to fix the plans. They did not follow the directions and the plans have been declined 2 times. All 2 times they charged us in full, we tried to fight the cost but we were desperate to get the correct plans. So we paid them and got the revised plan, again we got declined cause they did not follow the directions given by the City of Hackensack. We went to their office and spoke with Steven and all he was doing was accusing us we wanted the plans the way it was and that it was all our fault. And in the end he gave us a bill and told us until we pay for it he will not do any work. Seriously!!??? How unprofessional can anyone be to ask for money when the job was not done correctly. There is more to this but I just want to let everyone who is thinking of using Koestner Associates to please stay away. Just look at the other reviews exactly the same. read more

Three years after my survey was done I realized the paving is not noted. I called to Koestner Associates and was able to speak with Steven right away. I explained him the problem and he kindly agreed to fix it at no additional charge. A week later I received two copies of corrected survey. Great service and communication, highly recommend! read more
