In celebration of Labor Day, I'd like to praise the people of Olympic Fence (our installers) and Trex Fencing (our suppliers). We couldn't be happier with our new fence and the service we received from both companies. Our journey started with Trex Fencing because we wanted an environment-friendly alternative to the hardwood fencing most of our neighbors had. We fell in love with Trex because in our small backyard alone there are 100,000 fewer plastic bags in the ocean potentially choking turtles. We love the look of the alternating depths of the slats so we don't feel like we are sitting inside a box. And the no maintenance aspect is a dream for us. It will likely outlive us without us ever having to sand or paint! Tyler was wonderful at answering all my questions, including "Who can we get in New York City to install it?" Enter Olympic Fence. I loved them from the first phone call with Vicky. She was so efficient at getting the information they needed. She didn't know the answer to a question I asked and said "I'll call you back". Within a half hour, she did! (Unexpectedly prompt service in NYC!) Olympic's estimator, Carl, was on time, efficient, pleasant and witty. Their proposal was more reasonable in turn-around time, price and estimated time to completion than the two other quotes I got. The workers showed up when they said they would, they worked around all our backyard furniture, and they finished in a miraculous 1 day! (The other quotes were 2-4 WEEKS!) They did make a mistake that caused my neighbor some concern, but they came back two days later to fix it (they would have been back the very next day except it poured rain all day). That's what I call excellent service: do what you say you are going to do, do it on time, do it well, and if the inevitable mistake occurs, take responsibility and fix it ASAP. Yelp seems to be mainly people looking for residential fencing so my dealings with Olympic Fencing might be a bit different. I used them to install a heavy duty chainlink rolling gate for a construction site. It's 8ft tall and 13ft wide. I've seen plenty of rolling gates so I'm not exaggerating when I say that their handiwork was the best I have seen. Visitors to the site marvel at how easily the heavy duty gate rolls open and close. For example, they tack welded the rollers to the gate post when most installers will just clamp it. What happens is over time, the clamps loosen and the gate ends up falling off the top rollers, making it super hard to open. They also added a lock receiver and rolling covers, which you will never see on a construction site gate. The lady on that answers the phone was pretty responsive. I work in construction so i care most about how responsive a business is and someone always picks up the phone and answered my email. Due to the pandemic, prices are crazy high and so is demand. I was completely ready to pay since this my company is paying but Olympic was fairly priced. Several of the other gate companies completely ghosted me when I tried to set up a installation date. Olympic came out the day they said they would. The workers were polite and knew what they were doing. Another plus is that they pulled up in an actual heavy duty work truck (instead of a pick up truck) with a welder, ladders, and other machinery in the back. You know they are not some fly by night company. Another important fact is that they have liability insurance. That's a big deal in the construction field but I'm sure it will also extends over to residential. Anyways, I would recommend Olympic, especially if you have a heavy duty job. They have their own fabrication shop so if you need a metal or iron gate, they will be a good bet. read more

Vicky, the customer service person has an anger issue. Throughout our communication in the consultancy phase, she has been rude and condescending. We received a better quote from another fencing company shortly after Olympic fence checked our site and finalized our contract. I then called Vicky to turn down their offer and she got really nasty. I get it, you lost money by sending your guys to check our site, but all the fencing companies do that and it's part of your business to have people sometimes reject your final quote. There's not need for you to be so rude to someone who could still potentially work with you in the future. read more

Olympic fence company repeatedly made appoints with me to put up a PVC fence and repeated failed to show up. The secretary was rude and told me what difference does it make that I wait all day and another afternoon? They acted like they were doing me a favor to give them my business. I am a RN with very little free time. I called energy fence while being stood up the second day and Energy Fence came within the hour and put the PVC fence at a cheaper rate. Plus Energy Fence did the job fifty dollars cheaper. The rude secretary telling me what is the big deal for me to wait all afternoon for the contactor to come? It is a big deal. I am a critical care RN with very little free time. The company sucked.....never showed up multiply time with no apology and very rude Behavior. read more

We had PVC rails and a safety gate installed. Olympic gets four stars for quality of product, communications with salesman/office staff and capable work crew. The fifth star is for follow-through after final payment: there was an issue with the gate's locking mechanism but they made it right within a week. No chasing after them, no long delays and no aggravation. We recommend them and will use them again. read more

Customer service is terrible! In an age where you can take your business anywhere, you would think people would just be a tad bit friendly. These people act like you are bothering them when you are just trying to purchase your items and go. Even just saying hi was too much to ask for. It's true that VIctoria (she's the wife- it's a family-owned business) doesn't have the best phone manner. But if you can get past that, they do a decent job and we got quotations for 5 or 6 different companies and theirs was one of the most affordable. They had the entire job done in one day and when we noticed any small things that needed to be changed, they were happy to do so. The owner didn't come out at all to oversee his workers and check up on the fence, which I didn't love, but it seems as if they did a good job so I'm not too concerned. Our PVC fencing on our backyard has been up for about 4 months now and we haven't had any problems at all. read more

I called 5 (five) companies this summer to get a quote on installing a PVC railing on my new stoop, and these guys were the only ones that even bothered to call me back. When we needed to replace our old wood stockade fence, I was so lucky to get referred to Olympic Fence. Michael responded quickly to my request to schedule an appointment and met me onsite timely wearing his mask (an important detail during the pandemic). He was very can do and explained the ordering process, showed me some options as well as explained the turnaround time. Our garden access presents a challenge because we live in a brownstone and you have to walk through our renovated basement carefully to avoid damaging the space. No problems presented were an issue and I was assured all would go smoothly. After placing my order, I received my contract and was told I would be contacted when my fencing materials were in and ready for installation. Once we scheduled a date/time for the installation al went fairly quickly. Yesterday Michael's crew safely removed my old fence and installed my new one. I am beyond impressed with every aspect of working with Michael and his team. Our fence looks amazing! It is extremely reassuring to work with someone as professional and knowledgeable as Michael. Horrible, unprofessional people working here! Called for an appraisal (mike) very rude and spoke as if he grew up in a sewer. Called into their office to complain and the women on the other end of the line must have been his mother, who was equally as entertaining. Nevertheless, wasted my entire day, received no appraisal, and I will not be getting any work done by them. Called Amendols Fence, super polite, VERY professional and also called ROSE Fence and was treated equally as nice/expected. He used an example of falling into a trap of a lawsuit and we may end up back in the projects of Brooklyn. How i wish that i read other reviews before i contacted these jokers. Absolutely the worst experience Ive ever had with any company. Was supposed to meet them to get an appraisal. Scheduled a time. Called before I drove over to the house , which is 45 min away from my apt. Then i get a call from Vicki. This is how the conversation went They tried calling your cell but you didn't pick so they left. There was no missed call on my cell i said and Ive been waiting here for 30 min and i called you before i left. Oh maybe i gave them the wrong number , mistakes happen . Horrible customer service over the phone. The lady talked to me as if she could care less about me doing business with them, and that was from the start of the conversation. Without a hitch. Started with a telephone and e mail estimate based upon my description and measurements. Then Mike came to the house to measure and finalize. Confirmed the estimate as per the e mail. True to his word , I got a call a week later to schedule install. Two workers came the next day. Worked all day to remove old gate which had been cemented to ground in posts. They were very proffessional and cleaned everything up and took old gate . Could'nt be happier. The Bad reviews on Olympic Fence are accurate. I didn't trust it first. Now I regret buying from them. Their customer service is Terrible. You can't return most items. If they accept the return, you will be charged a 20% restocking fee which they never tell you when you buy it. " If you want it, take it.. if no ...out of here" said the manager Mike. A+ for Attitude. I am a firm believer in presenting individuals with facts and letting them come up with their own conclusions. My experience may not parallel what others may have or will experience, but what I would ask "Would you want to be with that significant other with psychotic tendencies?" ... I'll leave that up to you to decide. So here is my experience and you can interpret this as you would like and maybe I'm the one with psychotic tendencies :) FACT 1: I visited the store as I was passing by one day and saw that they had a good variety of fences and they prided themselves for being a big company that was around forever. FACT 2: I was impressed by the fences (specifically was looking for a vinyl fence in a color other than white) and eventually was greeted by a hispanic employee with a GREAT attitude (let's call him CoolEmployee) FACT 3: With me being me and not wanting to go with things because people just say so, I asked the gentleman what warranted these fences for being more expensive than home depot. I am the curious type and genuinely did not know. I also needed a fence ASAP as I had taken my old one off without much planning. FACT 4: The employee was not able to explain why the brand carried by this place was superior and pointed to a another gentleman (clearly the owner of the place ... let's call him NiceOwner). NiceOwner got up and indicated that home depot products sucked and his product was better and worth more because the manufacturer had been around for 90 years. I told him that this does not matter and I wanted to know why the product was better. At first he had that I should contact corporation CDE and just ask them. When told that I legitimately wanted to know, the gentleman started throwing terminology on me that I would not understand about tensile strength and all and was getting really annoyed with me. I kindly point out that I am also an engineer and he said that I should know and (not be asking the question). I pointed out that I am not a practicing engineering and this was not my area of experience. At this point, NiceOwner was no longer nice and implied that I'm full of bs. I kindly told him that I don't think he wants my business. NiceOwner told me that the door is the there, right where I came in from. I kindly CoolEmployee if I was rude to him, if I cursed at him or said anything demeaning or not. NiceOwner told that that I think I am the king who comes in expecting everything and some other comments that I will most likely misinterpret and provide more of an opinion rather than fact. CoolEmployee gave me a nice smile and said he would go through the brochure and try to explain to me why the product is better and I thanked him for his offer and left the company premises. FACT 5: I was legitimately looking for a fence and was most interested to find out why this product cost more. I would have been happy with a reasonable answer that did not require tensile strength explanations. FACT 6: I am a non-practicing engineer, MBA for a top 10 program and work around creating the best in class customer/client experiences. I obviously did not offer this info to anyone. OPINION: While this place has great fence selection and could work well for someone who just wants to choose a fence, pay the asking price and get it installed, it would not work for the individual who is concerned about WHY they are spending more, WHAT they are exactly buying, HOW will things get done, etc. In my opinion, this is probably a great place to get projects that don't run into any issues completed, but God forbid if you run into any issues (check rest of the yelp reviews to cover the opinions provided) EXPECTATION: I hope this review makes it to the main yelp page and I am kind of intrigued to see what kind of response or justification will this company provide. Will they own up to their arrogance, ego, and poor attitude? Will they provide you with examples to show how my facts may be misconstrued? I own a real estate and property management company in Manhattan. By industry standards Olympics customer service and tardiness for appointments is the pit's. The woman who picks up the phone and makes appointments always looks for a reason to explain their poor performance in that area. I have given them work before and gave them the benefit of the doubt on two occasions. Although their prices are reasonable, and their workmanship is okay, today's missed appointment was the last straw. This company seemed to be a professional one from the start with Carl coming out to give me an estimate. The minute I had to call the office for information it went downhill from there. The woman that answered the phone, the owners wife is extremely unprofessional. Everyone at the office is related and could care less. Take your business elsewhere if you want professional service. I'm not sure if the negative reviews listed are for the same company. There are others with the same name. This is a family owned business run by Mike Costanza and it is top notch. We installed a CertainTeed Bufftech vinyl fence around our property 5 years ago and everything about this company was top notch. From top down (Mike and the foremen, down to the installers) they were superb. The workmanship is amazing and they give personalized service. Over the 5 years I called twice to inquire with minor questions about the fence and both times they sent someone out immediately to speak to me personally. At the end of a particularly harsh winter when ice moved a post slightly out of position, they came and repositioned it without charge. I can't praise this company enough. Called Olympic fence to get an estimate and Victoria took down all my information and told me Mike would call me between 2-3 pm which he did that same day. We set up an appointment the following day and Mike showed up as scheduled. My wife and I wanted to change our old worn out wooden deck railing for white PVC railing, from the initial meeting with Mike we got a good feeling. Mike gave us a fair estimate and we signed a contract the following week. Mike promised that his installers would be there in two weeks and Mike was true to his word. His installers came and did a tremendous job, very neat and clean. They removed the old railing and took all the debris with them.The new PVC railing looks GREAT! and we could not be happier, just in time for spring and summer. Thanks Mike and ALL your guys.
