    Bread pudding
    Tami D.

I've been hearing so much about this place so I had to make a trip and see what Louisiana barbecue is about. First, the menu is amazing. From steaks to Smokehouse salads (not seeing this as often as we used to at bbq restaurants) to brisket potatoes, there is something here for everyone. I'm happy to see some classics (the Wedge salad and the bbq plate with 2 sides) as well as some unique dishes (the PB & J sandwich - pulled pork, sliced brisket, and jalapeno pepper Jack sausage and the prime brisket potato casserole, two things I want to try next). When I review barbecue I have my go-to items. On this visit I got the 1/2 chicken with potato salad and green beans, traditional but a great way to understand Koal's pov. I love the rub and smoke on this chicken and it was so tender, my dining partners took note for their next visit. I loved the potato salad, too. It was well mixed with mustard and pickles (the right way!) and the texture was perfect. No big hunks of celery or onion to dominate the flavor. The green beans were perfect enough to eat as a solo dish but the bonus for me was the yeast roll. I'm so used to white bread in Texas, I really enjoyed having a buttery yeast roll to tuck my chicken and sauce in. Finally, I would come back for the homemade pickles alone! I've never eaten so many pickles in a sitting and the manager was happy to accommodate. My guests had the beef ribs, brisket, and potato casserole and worked hard to clear their plate but the portions here are generous and we all ended up with a snack for later. This place is a true find with a nice sized dining room, great food, and excellent service. If you're smart, you'll save room for the bread pudding or at least order it to go. Delicious!

Good was super duper yummy, I got full so quick. Full of flavor too!! The service was quick, attentive, and amazing.

Ok really solid 4 minus the green beans w jalapeños in them.. not my thing. But the brisket chopped sandwhich was perfect with just the right amount of meat to fat ratio and there was a great bark on it in ever bite. The bbq is sweet and added just enough to bring out the smoke flavor and give it a sweet taste. The ribs are fall off the bone and the bite was just right. A little on the soggy side for me but I was happy I got them as an add on. Bar tender was busy but nice and don't let the check out girl make you feel in welcomed. Not sure if I did t order fast enough but not from around here yall. Seriously good spot and bring some friends..

Food was great except for my Ribeye. Was asked for medium & it was blue rare still breathing rare!!! I love this place but steak was so rough & undercooked I will not ever order again. Brisket fries was top notch. Wife steak was very good but ribeye was terrible tough & should be removed from menu.

Pressed brisket sandwich on Gambino's French bread

Consistently great! I live in TX and this is just as good! Pressed chopped brisket sandwich on Gambino French bread was amazing!! Love the PB&J sandwich as well bc all three meats (brisket, pulled pork, and jalapeno sausage) are on it!! Highly recommend!

Visiting from Baton Rouge and this place was recommended. Great food at a very reasonable price. Will eat there again when I visit Alex.

This is really disappointing because we love the food at Schlotzky's & this is the only location left in Louisiana. We just stopped here during July 4, 2026 weekend. The entire glass front door was cracked & looked like it would shatter if you touched it, but it was not covered for safety. They didn't have ANY tea made & the water out of the coke machine tasted horrible (in Shreveport, we have F grade water, but this was somehow infinitely worse), so I didn't even get a drink that we paid for. Both bathrooms are extremely dirty. My husband said there are never any paper towels in the men's room & the air dryer is rusted & too gross to use. And the water sprays out like crazy when you barely turn it on. He said it also stinks. The ladies room is also gross & the sink looks like it hasn't been cleaned in many years. The toilet seat doesn't fit on the toilet & slides around everywhere when you're not moving. The water barely comes out of the faucet, making it hard to wash your hands. (For at least a few years, the bathroom door locks didn't even work, but I guess they finally fixed that, at least.) We sat at the one table we could find that wasn't dirty. My husband also noticed some of the floor tiles are coming loose. My husband said his Original sandwich wasn't hot all the way through & his chips were stale. And they gave me the wrong dipping sauce with my calzone. We were weirded out by how dirty the restrooms & restaurant were, making us really concerned about how clean the kitchen & food could be when everything else is so dirty. So due to all of this, we will not be returning.

Ate inside the restaurant. Sandwich was great as was the service. But they need to do a major…read moreupgrade to their flooring. Floor tiles loose and several corners raised all over. A customer trip and fall is in their future. If I go back I'll get pictures.

When we walked in we were welcomed with a big smile and a hello. There was a few other patrons and it was very much giving a lunchroom feel. We didn't know what to order so went with the daily special which was a buy one get one shrimp plate. This included picture shows it haft gone (I sadly forgot to take a picture before diving in) but it comes with 6 jumbo shrimp on a bed of thick cut fries that were generously seasoned, two (unpictured) hush puppies and sauce of your choice. We close to go with the suggested "boom boom sauce" and it did not disappoint. So you order from a counter when you walk in, someone brings out your food in a styrofoam Togo container on a tray. You serve yourself whatever drink you want. There are bottled options as well as fountain drinks and teas. Overall it's definitely a win and easy to see why they have been serving Alexandria for 28 years. If you are looking for a place with a small town feel and big flavor check it out. You won't regret it.

Having not posted a good review previously the many times I've enjoyed the food here, I'm very hesitant to post that today my po-boy was not that good. I got the special of the day which was baked chicken with rice and gravy and two sides. They guy serving was super sweet to explain to me the ordering process and I had a great conversation with the woman in line before me who comes every week for the Wednesday special. For my sides, I chose the greens and mashed potatoes. Even though I got two starches, it was worth it because the mashed potatoes and gravy were worth having as a main dish! I loved the greens, too, especially since they had all the hot sauce and peppers and vinegar choices you could want. The chicken was fork tender and I left nothing on the plate. I love that they provide each guest a little wrapped package of cornbread and iced cake of the day, too. I will definitely be stopping at Pamela's any time I'm in town.
