All previous negative reviews directed at Wilson Ko, M.D. are 100% accurate, correct and truthful as my elderly beloved family member experienced similar treatment. Eye surgery was performed by Wilson Ko, M.D. who did a mediocre haphazard job. Post-operation after care was non-existential as my family member was in utter abject pain and intensely suffering intolerably. My family member was instructed to be seen by two (2) separate charlatan O.D. on three (3) consecutive dates who both are inexperienced, faineants speaking Mandarin via interpreter for obfuscate the truth were futile as treatment of a medical laboratory mouse experiment. So, my family and I travelled here to this office every single freaking day only to be seen by another charlatan O.D. for hum ma, hum ma as a cock and bull story response?? Low and behold my family member blurted in English boisterously loud her opposition with strong repartee whom the staff were nonplussed. What kind of M.D. doctor who does NOT accept responsibility for follow-up post-operation after care of his patients for surgeries that HE performed? The staff and charlatan O.D. always cited "he's on vacation" or "he's working in his Brooklyn office" and followed by "he's working in his Flushing office" as every excuse under the sun for the inability to treat my family member to elude himself from the medical responsibility and accountability!! Wilson Ko, M.D. lacks ethical behavior provoking ire from my family member and family. Possibly ergophobia? Egregiously excessively poor ophthalmology and poor customer service specifically targeting the elderly. Faineants!! Wilson Ko, M.D. is the most professionally qualified, most experienced doctor in this eye care clinic, Advance Medical Eyecare that contains multiple ophthalmologists but is unavailable all the time!! Bad customer service. His staff are typical Chinatown level, they act like they don't need your business. Go somewhere else instead.

The WORST experience as far as doctor's visits goes. 1. It took more than 3 months to get an appointment with Dr. Ko. If I had a serious eye problem, I could be blind after 3 months. 2. The receptionists are inexperienced and unprofessional. Upon checking in, they told me I need to get my eyes dilated, but nobody said anything about that when they called me up the day before to remind me of the appointment. If you need to dilate my eyes and I cannot work for the rest of the day, I would appreciate a heads-up. 3. They only accept cash or check. Are we in the 70s? Again, it's fine if you could tell me in advance, but they don't until you show up for the appointment. 4. I asked how long the wait is and the receptionist gave me a cold stare - at least 2 hours, she said. So, after a 3 month wait, I left without seeing the doctor. I don't care whether he is a good doctor - to run his office in such an unprofessional and inefficient manner is unacceptable. Maybe he felt he is so good that it doesn't matter how bad his staff is or how long the patients have to wait. His office is in the middle of Chinatown and almost all the patients there are immigrants from the neighborhood who do not speak much English. I often let bad experiences go but in this case I can't because I believe there was a potential financial scam going on and I plan to alert the BBB and other relevant authorities. Since a lot of elderly people seem to go here it's a real concern. I called to get an appointment at the Mott St. office for new contact lenses and made sure they knew I had a complicated prescription. I was told the visit would take 1 and 1/2 hours and that the earliest they could take me was in three weeks' time. I was also told I would be charged a fee of $150 for the contacts exam, which is not covered by insurance. I arrived early to get through the mountain of paperwork. After 35 minutes, "Judy," at the front desk told me she had talked to my insurance and that I would have to pay $150 for the office visit even though my standard co-pay was $50 for a specialist. She said the reason was the doctor might perform "procedures" that would have additional costs, but she could not tell me what those procedures might be. She warned me that it might end up costing me a lot more, and that it would be better for me to just pay the $150 and not submit it to insurance because it could end up being a lot more out of pocket. She mentioned the dollar amount of my high deductible repeatedly, and the fact that I was nowhere near meeting it. So I paid the $150 for the office visit on top of the $150 for the contacts (which Judy insisted on treating as two separate transactions) and then waited another 20 minutes for the exam. I was finally called in to an exam room by a young guy with ripped jeans, sneakers, a gray hoodie and a Justin Bieber haircut. He didn't greet me or tell me who he was so finally I asked and he said he was the technician. He put some drops in my eyes and said he needed to touch the surface of my eye with an instrument that he had brought in and put on the desk. (I later found out that this was a test for glaucoma, and that the drops he used stains the eyes and makes it impossible to try on contact lenses). After a few other tests he brought me to another room to see the opthamalogist, Lily Chin. I said that I was concerned about what I'd been told about "procedures" and that I would like an explanation of what was being done and what kind of cost would be incurred. I asked for a list of costs but they were not able to provide one. We also discussed contact lenses and Dr. Chin explained that they don't have a lot in stock and it would be difficult to do a trial because I have a complicated prescription and they'd have to special-order it (although perhaps the real reason was that they had given me eye drops that prevented any trials). She was clearly discouraging me from doing a contact lens exam so I said I would cancel that if I could get a refund. After some discussion I agreed to proceed with the regular eye exam, which meant that I had to have my eyes dilated which took another 20 minutes. Before I left (after 2 hours in the office) I decided to call my insurance company about the co-pay. The agent I spoke with said I should only have been charged $50 for the co-pay, and she read me a note on file showing that "Judy" had been told this when she called 2 hours ago. We then got on the speakerphone with "Judy" who denied that she'd been told that but agreed to refund the extra $100 I'd paid. I also got my money back for the nonexistent contact lens exam. In addition to contacting the relevant regulatory agencies, I will be in touch directly with Dr. Wilson Ko to make sure he knows how his office is being run. If he cares about his reputation (and license), maybe he'll do something about it. read more

This place is called Advance Medical Eyecare. With such a name, it is important for this clinic to live up to its expectations. However, all the medical assistants are clearly not advanced. Their attitudes are absolutely disgusting. I understand it might not be easy dealing with patients all day but I've been to many other clinics before and had experienced way better service. Today was my first time there, I walked in and approached them at the front desk but they didn't even ask if I needed any help. They gave me blank stares and was extremely unwelcoming. Honestly, if I wasn't referred here to see Dr. Ko I would've just left. I do not recommend this clinic to anyone. I believe Dr. Ko has other clinics perhaps he has better medical assistants there as well. read more

Could the location get any worse? It must be such a hassle for seniors to get here compared to Chatham Square. One thing is certain, the cattiness at the reception desk remains just as potent. Thank goodness these visits are only once a year and there is always the options to change doctors. Location and front desk support aside, I've been seen by friendly, knowledgable and professional Ophthalmologists at the office, just never the infamous Dr. Wilson Ko. read more

The service here is absolutely horrible. If you need a place to test your paitence this is it. Most people here wait for 3 hours or more. In addition, the staff dont seem to do anything to fix this problem. This place is just a waste of time. read more

Totally ridiculous place. It's always overbooked. Always a 3 hour wait. For a 5 minute consultation ??? And the front desk is rude. Why bother making an appointment? Everyone leaves in a bad mood. It's a terrible place for the elderly, or anyone having to wait like that. read more

I have visited eye doctors at multiple places, some were really bad, some are very good. But I still need a second opinion for my continued syndrome of eye dryness, among other things. Dr. Ko Wilson was great because he covered all the points relating to my eye problems, and his prescription really helped. His office location, next to a supermarket and many seafood and grocery stores, is very convenient to most of his patients, including myself. But what really matters to me is his in-depth analysis and professional judgment, for that I give him a 5 star. read more
