I ordered the bbq sandwich with coleslaw and onion rings. The sandwich was well seasoned, tender, and the sauce was well distributed and harmonized with the coleslaw incredibly well. The onion rings were made fresh and I appreciated that they made things fresh (because no one wins when anyone serves old onion rings). Overall, I'd order from this truck again, but I hope they get into the swing of things to get the food prepared at a shorter wait time.

Unfortunately though, on our recent visit Lynn wasn't there. My husband called to place the order: three large wonton soups and house fried rice with gravy. It was my idea to order in the first place because I have a cold and wonton soup is soothing to me when I'm sick. As usual we requested sliced ginger be added to the soup, or on the side is fine too. The young woman that answered the phone seemed confused and didn't know what ginger was. So I went inside myself to pick up the order and again request a side of ginger for the soup, as I'd done numerous visits before as well as at other restaurants. Again she acted like she'd never heard of ginger. To work at a Chinese restaurant, fast food or not, and not know what ginger is? Seriously? So I describe it. "It's yellow, it's spicy..." She finally gets it and says something to the cook in Chinese. She comes back with five slices of ginger in a little sauce container. So I said " Is it possible I could have one more container like this since I'm buying three large soups?" Simple request. She responds that I can cut up what she gave me at home and that I have to pay $1.00 more for the ginger. Now here's the thing. I had ginger at home. I know for a whole ginger root I can pay about $.13 and slice it myself. But I was sick and had worked all day, all I wanted was some hot wonton soup with ginger. So by now I'm livid. She never gave me another container of ginger and I paid $1.00 for less than one cent worth of ginger, when I'd already bought $20.00 worth of food. I told her I also worked in customer service and that I wasn't asking for free food, I was asking for a simple seasoning that they have tons of. She just gave me an "oh well" look and refused to look me in the eye or say anything else. I told her I'd never come there again to which she responded with more silence and a half smile and nod. Not only did I have to cut up my own $1.00 ginger to have enough to spread to three large soups, the crispy noodles they give you? All four bags were half full, one containing about 8 crispy noodles in the whole pack. Wow. There are probably over 100 Chinese takeout spots in Richmond. So for all who took the time to read this short story, please save yourself the time and money and go to an establishment that wants your business and treats you like your money matters.

I love how they are at different farmers markets as I can go after work at the Penn Quarter market or catch them over the weekend near me around Falls Church, Mosaic District, and Reston. Come early because they sell out quick! I highly recommend the prepackaged Eggplant Parm, Pesto and Artichoke Cannelloni, and Marinara Spinach and Cheese Cannelloni, Spinach Tagliatelle, Cheese Pansiotti. The only dishes I don't recommend are the Gnocchi (difficult to cook), Thin Tagliatelle (thicker is better and easier to cook), and Pesto Sauce (too thick). My favorite dishes are the prepackaged baked Eggplant Parm, Pesto and Artichoke Cannelloni, and Marinara Spinach and Cheese Cannelloni. I love tossing them into the oven and within 30 minutes, viola! A delicious pipping hot Italian dish bursting with flavor. I really like how they are fail safe - you don't have to worry about overcooking pasta or buying sauce, cheese,or additional ingredients. Everything is included and those dishes are the best bang for your buck! When I'm not feeling lazy, I love cooking the fresh homemade pasta particularly the Spinach Tagliatelle and Cheese Pansiotti. The pasta is really soft and tender, it cooks al dente in a couple of minutes. It's really easy to over cook the pasta as I've done this a few times particularly for the thinner pastas. The Spinach Tagliatelle is unique pasta and thicker than fettuccine. As the spinach tagliatelli is hard to find and a top seller, I'm lucky if I get a chance to buy it before its sells out (keeping fingers crossed!) Of all the fresh pastas, the Tagliatelle has the largest serving and goes well with pesto. I really like the Cheese Pansiotti, a large ravioli stuffed with cheese and subtle garlic flavor that melts in your mouth and goes with ragu or marinara sauce. I wasn't a big of a fan of the thin tagliatelli, which is like spaghetti/bucatini, or the mini ravioli. I prefer the larger pastas. If you haven't cooked Gnocchi before, I don't recommend purchasing it. You need to cook it in under 30 seconds, I waited an extra 30 seconds and it turned into mush! To add insult to injury, I blended in the pesto sauce, which turned into mashed potato! I ended up throwing out the meal, $35 literally down the drain. Although the Pesto sauce is tasty, it comes frozen and very thick and difficult to blend in with the pasta. I recommend using it as a spread for sandwiches rather than for the pasta. I used the pesto for the thin tagliatelle, it was really hard to blend in and made the pasta congeal and clump together. The pesto sauce isn't worth $18. If you are going to eat the pasta within a week, I recommend just refrigerating them as they keep well. I don't recommend freezing the pasta as it tends to stick together. The pasta also keeps well after you cook or bake it. The pasta were good after a week. I gone to several farmers markets just to get Cavanna Pasta, they are that tasty and delicious! Their homemade pasta take me back to Italy.

There are two sauces to choose from: one is a standard BBQ sauce and the other is a sweet mustard. I prefer the standard BBQ. The mac and cheese is the bomb. The cornbread is slightly sweet, which is how I like it. The only thing that's missing are collard greens--or anything green. If he had them on the truck, I'd be a fan for life. But flavor-wise, everything was on point. Price wise, too. And service was friendly and fast. I understand they're in their soft opening phase, so they don't have a regular schedule yet, but will be ramping up soon.
