No napkins or utensils or seasonings were in the bag, so I helped myself. So much for service. The "iced tea" was undrinkable. We always order through Beyond Menu. Normally we don't have an issue. Sometimes, we do. Tonight was the last time we will be ordering g from them. I put in my dietary restrictions and when the order showed up, it was all wrong. When I called to just get the rice replaced (I can't do fried and can only eat white), they said nothing but someone would call me back. This is NOT the first time this has happened. I decided to stop by this establishment during my work shift; the appearance leaves nothing to be desired. Boxes of fortune cookies and condiments fill a quarter of the restaurant, and the woman taking my order was hard of hearing; I guess the thick Plexi glass didn't help either. I digress, I ordered the fried chicken wings and fried rice combo for an exasperated price of $9.50, but I was hungry and on a time crunch. After a ten-minute wait, the server handed me a bag with my order; I took my order to go; I discovered later that there were no utensils nor napkins with my food, annoyed I tried the fried chicken wing, which wasn't bad but not worth the price this restaurant was charging, the rice was okay but a bit bland. I wish this place wasn't so far from the city. I travel from near downtown out to this location when we want really good chinese food. This location has the best chicken on a stick. Customer service appears discriminatory, we ordered from this place previously. We asked for vegan selections due to allergy restrictions and shrimp was in the egg rolls. Not to mention the delivery driver opted to deny service for waiting 5 minutes at our location. Our community is a new development and is pretty large. Despite there error we opted to take the loss on that order and give them another chance but China panda on Quiocasin rd. refused to deliver because we didn't answer a random FaceTime number. My wife and I LOVE good egg drop and hot and sour soup. Our "regular" Chinese carry out was closed today (Monday) so we decided to try this restaurant. We both had a taste for egg drop this time so gave it a go. It was HORRIBLE! It was like water, and it tasted like it was topped off with hot water in order to make it full. The egg should be somewhat suspended in the water, but the little amount of egg that WAS in the soup water was sitting on the bottom of the container. I popped into China Panda last week to get lunch carryout. First things first: I had to use the restroom. It was built and/or designed by a man. No hook to hang your purse, and no fixtures with a flat surface to set it on. Having taken care of the basics, albeit awkwardly, I went to the front counter and ordered the Pepper Steak lunch special. Pretty basic: Tri-sectional clam shell. Egg roll in one pocket, mediocre rice (something between white rice & fried rice) in another pocket, and the pepper steak in the larger section. Back at home, lunchtime: It was good... I ate every bit, but there was nothing to differentiate it from dozens of other Asian bistros in the same ZIP code. I am quite surprised at the reviews because I do not understand how I can order two completely different dishes and they both taste the same. We ordered the Szechuan Beef and the Hunan Beef--neither one of us could tell the difference. I am one of those types who loves spicy food so when I realized that the Szechuan didn't have a drop of spice to it I wanted to throw the whole bowl away! The Hunan was just bland and sad tasting, like they must use a basic brown sauce and believe that adding different veggies will make it better. It really doesn't. I used to love this place. The lunch menu offers good food at decent prices. But since covid, they have set up a system at the front of the building which prevents any kind of contact between them and you. This is responsible in theory and I have no issue with it. But the woman you have to deal with is really unpleasant and impatient. She doesn't speak fluent English and makes gestures at you to order you around with the new process. If you're in the nabe, this little place does a good job on the basic Chinese take-out oeuvre, with a few ruffles and flourishes that make it worth the trip, or the call for delivery. Their hot and sour soup is consistently good. Anything with broccoli in it never disappoints. They take special requests like "please no green peppers" without batting an eye, and you get it how you asked for it. On the path towards sampling the Chinese Restaurants in RVA, I stumbled across China Panda. It had been roughly five years since I visited this location for lunch, but I when I did I remember that the restaurant had good food. So how did my experience this time go? To find out, read below. The Good: Online Ordering- Because I despise involuntarily alerting my coworkers that I am ordering lunch, I truly appreciated the online ordering feature for this restaurant. Taste of Chicken Wings- Chicken wings were cooked nicely and had a nice crunch to them when consumed. Taste of Won Ton Soup- Won Ton had a good flavor, nothing extraordinary or terrible. Prices- The order of 8 chicken wings was $5.20, small chicken fried rice was $4.95 and won ton soup was $1.50. Those prices are very reasonable considering that some Chinese restaurants in RVA charge $1-$3 more for the same items listed. The Not So Good: Delivery Minimum- The delivery minimum is $13. Its not an outrageous minimum, but as a frugal spender, I would be more comfortable with a $10 minimum, especially if the restaurant is less than 2 miles away from me. Speed of Delivery- Delivery took roughly an hour. For a restaurant that is less than 2 miles away, its hard to imagine why the delivery had taken so long but it was still inexcusable. Taste of the Chicken Fried Rice- I hate being a stickler on chicken fried rice, but its my favorite dish and I like my rice to be greasy but flavorful. This rice was slightly greasy and lacked much needed flavor. The Bad: NA Overall- I wasn't a big fan of the time it took to get food delivered to me and the taste of the chicken fried rice, but the other menu items that I ordered had a good taste to them and I could definitely see myself getting carry out from this place if I was in the area again. I've been a long time patron of China Panda - while it's not amazing, it's usually a decent choice for Americanized Chinese food. I've been craving Chinese lately, so I stopped by today for a late lunch. My entree was nearly flavorless - the "garlic sauce" I'd ordered tasted like watered down sweet and sour sauce with some chili flakes tossed in for "heat". The majority of the dish seemed to consist of green peppers rapidly approaching past-prime freshness. The steamed white rice was either on the old side, or undercooked, as it was on the hard and chewy side. I also ordered fried vegetable dumplings, which are usually fantastic. The dumplings today were just OK, with soggy filling that squirted liquid everywhere while attempting to eat them. I'm pretty disappointed with this visit, but I'll give them another try. read more

I have ordered delivery about five or six times, everything has always come exactly in the time frame they've told me. I live in a townhouse with a unit number that's hard to read, and every other delivery I've received has had to call me to figure out exactly which house, but they always have gotten it down. The food quality is exactly what you'd expect. I have enjoyed every meal. Prices are pretty straightforward and are at a norm of what to expect. They are so friendly on the phone and my order is always perfect, quality of their food is awesome, they are fast and reliable even on busy weekend nights. I have to say again, the quality of their Chinese food is better than the others. They use nice containers the portions are big.
