    Sesame shrimp

I came here on a date last weekend and enjoyed the food and my cocktails. Service was good and there weren't a ton of people there since when we went it was around 9 pm. I got the sesame shrimp with a side of fried rice. The shrimp were big and the sauce they were in was very flavorful and the perfect sweetness. I also ordered a salad and it had a delicious dressing.

All too often (at least in this area) the most authentic type of Chinese food is found at a restaurant featuring "panda" in its name. That made our visit to Beijing On Grove such a wonderful experience. We were able to taste dishes that were what we remembered eating in Beijing near the Forbidden City. The Spicy flounder was fantastic (although I personally would have enjoyed some free-floating peppers in the sauce), and the tea and coffee smoked duck was delicious. Shared appetizer of the chili dumplings were also delightful. Lunch menu offers standardized specials, so the more conservative American palates will find many recognizable standards. The dinner menu is more expansive and features more authentic options. Our server today, Zoey, was both friendly and knowledgeable. She was attentive without being overbearing. knew the menu well and was able to make recommendations. The manager, Bill, came by to check on us and we had a nice conversation where he explained that their head chef was originally trained in China and then came to New York before arriving here. The menu clearly reflects his influence. Of special note is their Chef's Special, a fixed price group menu featuring his selections of three appetizers and five main courses. This is similar to a Japanese sushi version of an omakase experience. We are looking forward to returning with some friends or family when they visit to take advantage of this! Definitely recommend this place to both Authentic Chinese food enthusiasts and non-adventurous diners alike as they have something for everyone. We will be back!

We had a family dinner here to celebrate a birthday and were lucky enough to score the private room. The private room had a little window into the kitchen so we got to see the chefs at work preparing all the food. The food is massive and served family style which allows you the option to share, eat it yourself or take home a nice sized to go box! We ordered an assortment of dishes but my favorite by far was the kimchi fried rice! This dish was unique in that it had kimchi and mozzarella cheese! Besides the food being delicious the hospitality and service from the staff was outstanding! I definitely recommend checking this place out!

I have high standards for Chinese food, and make a distinct differentiation between Chinese food and American Chinese takeout. I'm happy to report that lovers of both will find something they like here! Honestly, I haven't been this excited about a Chinese food place in a while- its somehow managed to creatively meld many influenced together to create something new and intriguing. Beijing on Grove has done a good job of introducing crowd favorites and more niche dishes alike in a palatable way to a wider crowd. The ambience is cute, the servers were helpful, and the food portions were well-endowed. My dish (spicy flounder) came with veggies and rice, which is nice for when everyone is ordering their own dishes. It was nicely flavored, remnicent of of some Sichuan-style fish dishes I've had in the past. My friend really liked her curry rice noodles: a subtly flavored noodle dish that was indeed surprisingly good. Numb numb pepper steak (not pictured) was nicely cooked with nice flavor as well. Not too sweet, with a good kick! The appetizers were a big hit as well: crispy chicken rolls: crispy, good flavor, with sweet and sour sauce lettuce wraps: nice light option, easily shareable green bean stir fry: blistered, hot wok style, with a satisfying bite. I appreciated that this establishment has created dishes that do justice to both Chinese and American Chinese food, respecting the flavors of each when appropriate. One small gripe: The tables are not very conducive to family style sharing, (sharing apps were a little difficult with a long table) but the main dishes are done in a way that seems to encourage individual portions, so it is understandable. Overall, big kudos, can't wait to come again to try other dishes!

I have eaten here a few times, and the experience is not always the same. On this particular trip I felt like it was a good experience and I'm giving them a 5 this time around. We did not have to wait too long for the entrées to come out. The food was hot and it was not salty. No complaints

This was my first time trying Beijing On Grove and I was not disappointed! I appreciated their ability to accommodate my dietary restrictions. They had vegan options and were able to make things vegan if they were advertised as vegetarian! The staff was very accommodating and gave great recommendations. The Green Bean Stir-fry has been on my mind since I left! It was delicious! It was seasoned so well and the texture was perfect! The pineapple fried rice did not disappoint either! I was nervous to try the crispy tempura eggplant, but it was so good! Crispy with the perfect amount of spice! Will be going back soon!

Had the stir fry green beans for an appetizer and the basil chicken for my main entree. I can't do spicy so I asked for the regular brown sauce with it. The basil flavor really came through perfectly and the chicken was so tender. Combined it with the fried rice and enjoyed it all. Had enough for lunch tomorrow too.

Spicy dumplings ( I don't care for spice but these were perfect)

Definitely enjoyed the authentic Chinese food which my husband and I ordered from the dinner menu though it was the lunch hour. We started with dumplings cooked in chili oil, sharing only this one. Then I got the Spicy Flounder served with authentic Chinese vegetables. Wow, I gave two tastes to my husband who agreed that it transported us to a San Francisco Chinatown restaurant reknowned for their spicy fish. He shared his Tea smoked Duck which was accompanied by four bao buns and true Chinese vegetable slices. Our server Zoey was very attentive and the manager, Bill, visited us. He said his Chef started out in New York and he knew how to cook for Americans and true Asian palates as reflected in the lunch specials targeted for the less adventurous guests and what we ordered. Fabulous chef and kudos for his cooking. Also, Bill said the Chef's Special includes three appetizers and five entrees from the Chef. Each person pays $50. Quite a bargain considering what we paid but the portions were very generous. There is parking in the back of the restaurant. It was filled at this prime lunch hour. Again authentic decorations surrounding us. This is a great place for return visits. Truly a spectacular find, though we were unaware it was rated one of the top Chinese restaurants. That sign is posted in front of the restaurant and we were hurriedly approaching the inside oblivious to signage. Seated immediately and served ice water along with conscious treatment by Zoey. This place also has a full bar.

Great service. Stopped by for a late lunch on a Friday and sat outside. We were considering Taste but they were packed. We had a great time outside and our server was super friendly and attentive. One chicken and broccoli lunch with hot and sour soup, one wonton soup and the hot pork dumplings. So yummy! It has unique flavorings and feels super "clean" and fresh. Will definitely be back for dinner.

Excellent service, really good food, and a huge array of vegetarian / vegan options merits a perfect 5 stars for Beijing on Grove! We wanted to try this spot forever and finally were able to snag a patio spot on a warm summer evening. Our server Charlotte was soo attentive and friendly, and we felt truly taken care of. We started with the Eggplant Tempura app and Hot & Sour Soup - both of which were so good! The tempura is actually vegetarian as is the soup (we had to ask) and because most Hot & Sour soup is made with a non-veggie broth I am never able to try it - but this veggie version with egg and tofu was super flavorful, savory, and yummy. The eggplant was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside with an awesome slightly numbing spice. For mains we shared the Fat Dragon Lo Mein, Kimchi Fried Rice, and Fat Dragon Tofu - all were super delicious. Our server kindly brought us extra sauce for the noodles which we requested and appreciated. Throughout the meal, the manager was also checking on diners - very thoughtful and definitely made us want to go back and bring friends / family. Highly recommend Beijing on Grove especially for vegetarians / vegans! I haven't had such good Chinese food in years.

Beijing on Grove has been recommended to me so many times, so I was thrilled to finally go there this past week for dinner. The menu had a good variety of appetizers, noodle/rice dishes, entrees, and desserts. I opted for the Chicken and Broccoli and my friend ordered the Tangerine Beef. We were both thrilled with the quality and quantity of the food that we received. They came out to our exact specifications and tasted delicious. Additionally, our server was super sweet and attentive. The restaurant is located on Libby so it is near lots of great shops that you can have a fun day or night of great food and shopping. Since this restaurant is so well known and popular, I'd recommend getting a reservation online. It's super easy to do. Regardless, make sure that you find a time to eat at Beijing!

Beijing on Grove! Let me start by saying service was great. We have been dining here for a few years and we have been pleased each time; however this visit feels different. They no longer offer Saki (not a deal breaker) and when we ordered the New Zealand Rack of Lamb we were told they are no longer available, but still listed on the menu (hate that). That dampened the visit. We changed our selection to the Crispy Crab Wonton, Crispy Chicken Rolls and Crispy Asian Five Spice Ribs (I believe two of those spices were missing). The food is not the same caliber. In my opinion this is the place for fried rice, noodles, appetizers and drinks.

I love Fat Dragon so I've been wanting to try Beijing on Grove for quite a while now. I found some time this week to stop by and I was so underwhelmed. I will say it's very cute and clean inside. Additionally, the staff were friendly and professional but the food just was not great -- especially compared to Fat Dragon. I got sautéed string beans and the spring rolls and they were not great in terms of presentation and taste. I may come back, but I'm unsure!

Does this place do dim sum?

We do have Sunday brunch with your Cantonese Favorites but no traditional Dim Sum. Maybe in the future! Thanks for asking

I've been for lunch, but not dinner... good for kids? Age 5 and 2?

We've been many times with our 3 yr old. Totally fine. We tend to go early, before it gets busy and loud.

The entryway is interesting and provides some shelter from the rain, allowing you to manage your umbrella before entering. We were seated within seconds, and our server, Liza, came by very promptly with some water for our table. I felt slightly anxious at first, being that we were in a cozy two-top amongst the fray, but it subsided quickly because everyone was respectful and reasonably quiet. We ordered the veggie spring rolls to start, and I had the Chinatown Ramen, and my partner had the Chicken Fried Noodles. The appetizer was hot, savory, and spicy with the duck sauce and hot mustard mixture. If you like milder sauce, do not mix it. The entrees came out within five or so minutes of the appetizers, which seemed quick for a busy night. The ramen was spicy, hot, and filling. I was only able to finish about half. We will be enjoying those leftovers tonight. My partner said that her noodles and chicken were well-seasoned and delicious, too. Looking around the restaurant, it is clear that they support the local LGBTQ+ community, and it is even labeled as a Safe Space on the beautifully manicured, makeshift chalkboard/menu/posting board. The clientele and staff alike seemed warm and kind, based solely on limited interactions and observation on my part. If you are looking for a traditional American-Chinese food restaurant (think buffet-style items), this is likely not the place for you. There were no mishaps or snafus with our orders. Liza performed her duties well, and I can surely recommend this restaurant to anyone who doesn't mind a mix of Japanese and Chinese cuisine.

For our meal we ordered dumplings, which were amazing. The dipping sauce was to die for...I need to research it and try to make it. We also got the scallion pancake, which came with a curry dipping sauce. Also very good. For lunch there is a menu that is typical of Chinese restaurants where you get a choice of soup (I chose hot and sour) and rice (I chose white rice). For my main I selected hot and numbing chicken from the lunch menu. My husband got three pepper steak. We also got jasmine tea, although if you prefer an adult beverage they have a bar. The food was excellent, service was attentive but not overbearing. It was a great meal and we both have lots of leftovers. The restaurant can be a bit noisy because it's just a big open room, but it's okay. The table next to use was loud talkers with no inside voice, so I got to hear all about their trip to Charlottesville for a concert. Sounds like they had a good time. I wish people were more self-aware about the volume of their voices in public but maybe his ears were wrecked from the concert. P.S. Walking in, it was completely empty, no customers. By the time I left, several tables were sat and they had a steady stream of carry-out/delivery pickups. I tried their spicy cucumber salad and their three pepper beef, but I sub'd out the beef for chicken instead. The cucumbers were decent, they had a nice spice to them and the vegetable itself was fresh. The three pepper chicken came out on a sizzling platter (a fajita platter with aluminum foil on it) and looked pretty good. My first few bites had the great flavor of wok hei, which I love! But I quickly noticed there was no other flavor other than some sort of pickled pepper flavor, which is very odd in Chinese food. The chicken texture was great, but the entire dish was swimming in vegetal oil, it wasn't dry spiced and wok'd.
