Sadly, Jade has really fallen off in the years since my review. What was once our go-to dinner destination for family occasions, with our five children and often extended family as well, has become a fallback only when we need the convenience after a long commute. The customer service leaves much to be desired. Lunch menu comes with chicken egg rolls or shrimp spring rolls; as a vegan, I asked for just a tiny side of white rice (the thing they have a multi-gallon vat of at all times) in place of the meat-filled rolls, and she refused. I've also been blamed for an order they got wrong and it was baffling how resistant the owner was to fixing it. I admit the food is quite tasty , that's the one thing that hasn't changed. But it does cost more now. And you have to navigate a whole big attitude to get it the way you want. read more

Be very VERY cautious when eating here. This place was amazing prior to COVID. My boyfriend and I stopped by not too long ago. The fried wonton strips they give you as an appetizer were so stale. He ordered the happy family(not a cheap meal), and we could smell the rotten seafood as the waitress was walking to us with our meals. We didn't even want her to put the plate on the table the smell was so bad. I despise sending food back, but we both immediately lost our appetites having that plate sitting in front of us. We had to leave because we knew if we took a bite, we would end up with food poisoning. The manager or owner there that day told the waitress to tell us "that's what seafood smells like" and didn't even come up to us to try to resolve the issue or acknowledge they were trying to serve us rancid seafood. read more

We went during lunch time and it seems it's a bit more of a take out spot for lunch. Not sure why though as we dined in and it was delicious, maybe the weather scared people away. Either way, typically with a really good Chinese food restaurant, service is not as good but the food offsets that fact. This wasn't the case here. Our server was exactly as attentive as we needed and never interrupted us and the food was delicious. The restaurant's atmosphere itself felt very much like a family business. Not extravagant but just enough to not be a boring empty space. All in all, I'll make it a point to return here when in Ashland. read more

This is strictly a comment on the management. E didn't get any food. The place says open on line and on the sign. However, it is only delivery and take out. I guess they decided that they didn't want to staff the place for in store dining because just about everyone in the state has opened dining in back up. read more

I got orange chicken yesterday and it was legit just bread with maybe 1% chicken. It tasted so old and was legit disgusting. It seems that they just refried the chicken again. The receptionist was very nice... The waitress was not rude but not friendly either... It looked like the waitress had family or other staff seated chatting very loudly, so the entire time listened to speak in a language I couldn't understand.. I placed an order and the receipt had the correct type of food in the bag. When we went to open the food it was the wrong order. I Trieste to call several times they were either closed or no answer when I finally did get through they insisted I bring the food way back for a refund, even though it was delivered. I asked them to please bring me two more dinners and I'll give them the food back and the owner refused to do so and kept repeating herself over and over that I needed to call much sooner. How do I do that when I can't get through? I suppose that's her way of operating a business is repeating the same thing over and over again and ignoring what the customer has to say. Some of the worst Chinese food I've had in years! My husband and I hadn't had Chinese food in a long time so we decided to check out a place where we were staying while in Virginia. I should of known when I walked in on a Saturday at 5 pm and the whole dining room was empty! We ordered to go and waited on their torn up bench. They told us it would be 10 min and it they were spot on with their timing. While seating there for the 10 they had a whole conversation (the three employees) about killing a spider like activity right in front of us. We got our food and drove less than 5 min home. The food was very hot I will say (temperature) but there is not one thing that was very good. We ordered crab rangoons which had very little filling and was extremely dry! We also order fried vegetable dumplings that were still very doughy like not cooked well at all. The fried rice that came with our entrees was simply white rice cover with soy sauce no egg or veggies at all! The entrees were edible but the worst I've had in a very long time. Not bad. I was craving Chinese take out one evening (since my husband was out and I didn't feel like making dinner with my newborn). I checked out Yelp and saw this spot close to new home and decided to give this a try. It's been so long since I had Chinese take out and decided to order a few things. I called in for a delivery and was informed that they will try to deliver the order in the next 40 mins. Decided on their fried chicken wings appetizer with an order of their pork lo mein and house fried rice. I was really surprised that they actually got the food cooked and delivered to my house in 20 mins. Talk about being surprised in getting food 20 mins earlier! haha. The food fed me and got me in the food coma I've been wanting to get that weekend. I was honestly shocked at how much food they were able to pack in the Chinese takeout boxes, especially with the lo mein. I was not able to eat half of it, luckily I had my husband to thank for eating the rest so that I wouldn't be tempted in eating the leftovers the next day. Very surprised at how much food they provided and the fast delivery that took place. Spoke with a very nice lady on the phone to place a delivery order. That is the only good thing I can say. I asked specifically for extra soy sauce and NO celery in my cashew chicken. When it was delivered, I was surprised to find no cashews in my cashew chicken but plenty of celery. There was not extra soy sauce as requested. When I called , they got a manager to the phone who wanted to argue with me that if we got the fork packet there where two sauces in there. We ordered two meals and pork fried rice and asked for more than 8 packets. All she could do was scoff and laugh. RIDICULOUS!!!!! Told her we won't be back. Sure that made her happy and laugh more. I can't recommend this place anymore. I was in with my family and we ordered our meal. The waitress was a bit all over the place, forgetting sauces, refills, or utensils. But everyone has a bad night, and she was the only one working the dining room. We gave her a cautionary benefit of the doubt. I had ordered orange beef, but what arrived was definitely chicken. I decided to shrug it off and eat it any way--I like orange chicken too. I spooned several chunks onto my plate and ate a few, before needing to excuse myself to the restroom. Upon my return, my parents looked stunned and stared at me expectantly. I noted immediately that the platter of orange chicken was now replaced orange beef. Nice! But then I looked at my plate... which was empty. While I was in the bathroom, the waitress realized her error--she delivered the wrong food to the wrong table. She placed the beef on the table, took up the platter of chicken, and from my plate she picked up the chunks of chicken, including a piece so had eaten off of WITH HER FINGERS, AND DELIVERED THE PLATTER OF ORANGE CHICKEN TO A NEIGHBORING TABLE, without comment. The neighboring table did not realize what transpired and immediately dug in. If this the behavior exhibited in the dining area in sight of customers, imagine what is going on out of sight. It is disappointing for one of my family's favorite restaurants to become an absolute never again. I have no idea of that waitress still works there, but I won't be returning to find out. read more

So disappointing. Ordered some appetizers for delivery. The wonton soup was okay, could have more flavor. The egg rolls were dry and tasted like they were previously frozen. Ordered about 84.00 worth of food around 3 weeks ago. Ordered a boneless ribs appetizer that tasted...old. Called the restaurant to let them know EVERYTHING else was good but these boneless ribs were not (roughly about 7.95 of the 84.00 order). The lady on the phone said she never heard of this before but would let the kitchen know and was about to hang up. I quickly asked if there was something that could be done as I wasn't looking for any money back just a replacement or credit for another time. The lady said there was nothing that can be done and defended the food again stating no one has ever complained before. I asked to speak to a manager and she said she was and that her name was "Sam" (I stayed polite the entire conversation). I said ok and hung up. I have eaten from this restaurant a hand full of times over the years and the experience has always been ok (this was my backup restaurant since my first choice was closed). Never spent as much as I did a few weeks ago...especially considering other possibilities during this pandemic. This time I ordered one of my favorite dishes- Szechuan beef- and I must say that it's one of my favorite renditions of the dish I've had from a casual Chinese restaurant. We have always eaten in at Jade Chinese Restaurant. Last visit was very good. Vegetables were fresh and crisp in the Beef and Mixed Vegetable dish. My husband enjoyed the Orange Chicken, large pieces. Wonton in Wonton Soup was nicely filled with ingredients. I haven't Yelped in a while, but every now and then I'm struck by a restaurants indifference toward their customers. We showed up at this establishment right around noon for lunch. We walked in and the lady behind the counter was playing on her phone and never looked up or acknowledged us. There was a gentleman sitting next to her (who by the way was reading a book) finally said her name after he noticed us waiting. She asked how many were in our party and we said 6. This prompted a smirk from the gentleman and the lady to walk around, searching an essentially empty restaurant for where to put us. She put two tables together and then looked at my family and half heartedly pointed to a table and said "you can sit there". I had already told my wife that we should just leave based on the engagement when we walked in but we waited. When the lady pointed where to go in the manner she did, my wife asked if we were bothering them. The response was "not really". Not really!!?? This was all I had to hear. We told them we didn't want to inconvenience them anymore and left. I highly recommend NOT visiting this establishment. The level of indifference was off the charts. read more

Very delicious, family style restaurant every bit as good as PF Chang's! We ordered wonton soup, sweet and sour soup, egg roll, spring roll, kung pao chicken and four treasures. We didn't realize it was family style, so we ordered WAY too much. One entree is good for 2-4 people! It was all excellent with the exception of the rice, which just tasted like bland rice (but I think we may have accidentally received brown rice instead of fried rice). tonight I picked up dinner for 5 for our ladies night out. It was my choice to pick and since I live in Ashland I chose Jade since it was close. Our pick up tab was $80 so I was hoping for a great meal. Almost immediately one of my friends find a small black bug with antennas in her lo mein. We were all grossed out and eating stopping. One of the other ladies opened the free donuts they send you and there was a brown hair under the first donut. I have never been so embarrassed in my life. I called the restaurant and the manager was very short. Saying she would only refund the lo mein. We ended up chucking $80 worth of food in the trash. For almost 10 years this place was my go-to Chinese, would go out of our way to go here instead of other places. I just can't anymore. The quality and taste of the food has dropped and is very inconsistent, it's not a pleasant place to be in (if you eat in, they pile everyone right next to each other and leave half the restaurant open), and they just don't seem to care. My last 2 carry out orders took 15 minutes past the original 15 minute estimate (most recently I was literally the only customer there). Time to find a new place. read more
