    Bees knees & NA cocktail

While I am still sad about the closing of Varga bar, I was pleased that it was replaced by a great neighborhood cocktail bar. The drinks were incredible and the burger might be in my top 3 favorite burgers in Philly. The jus/gravy that the burger is served in is so incredible and adds the right amount of salt & pepper flavors to the dish. The hamachi toast is a must order. The first bite of the toast is a shock to the system in a good way- the flavor and texture combinations of that dish are so unique! The croquettes were excellent as well. The decor was so fun and it's a great date spot. The service could have been better (just need some more education on the specials & the menu) but we will still be back!

The ambiance is what made me so excited to try this place! It did not disappoint and was so cute inside - plus they had cute match boxes! As far as food and drink, I was surprised at the burger flavor and quality I would definitely order it again. The field mocktail I had was also so delicious and well crafted! We will be back :)

I took a quick look…read moreon Yelp and immediately went in - I didn't even look to see what type of food they serve. I was a little surprised it had boards with cheese-charcuterie and meats. I saw some nice appetizers and chose a sandwich as well. I started with the Artichoke Hummus with Feta and Grilled Focaccia - it was excellent! Large chunks of artichoke with the creamy hummus and little balls of feta were such a great combination. However, it was the Grilled Focaccia that brought the spread to its peak. Light and slightly crunchy it was so delicious with the hummus! Next up, the Pistachio Herbed Ricotta with Lavender Honey Bruschetta. I took my first bite started to chew and had to close my eyes as I was transported to a 'heavenly' taste. The pistachio with the creamy ricotta was amazing, and with the lavender honey, it was over the top. I told the server it could be a dessert as well! After two great appetizers, I was really looking forward to my 'main dish' - the Smoked Chicken Sandwich with Cabot Cheddar, fresh tomato and arugula, and a truffle herbed aioli (I opted out of the bacon). I took a bite and of this thick smoked chicken breast with a fabulous aioli dressing and was delighted it was every bit as delicious as the appetizers! The chicken was tender complimented by the cheese, tomato and arugula-but I had the dressing come on the side and found myself adding more and more, it was so good! What a gem in Center Cjty - it's a must try!

Our party ordered 4 spritzes and 1 N/A drink, which they messed up and brought all alcoholic drinks, but quickly fixed it when we noticed. The bartender was very apologetic (though i think our server gave him the wrong order so it wasn't his fault). We also got a cheeseboard to share, which was bigger than the server made it sound and not bad for a little snack between the 5 of us. Overall nothing was super special, but it was a nice spot to stop in and have a drink and a bite. Would consider coming back if I'm killing time in the area.

The raclette sandwich was a decadent grilled cheese. I got a cassis and Perrier drink that was refreshing. My spouse got a pastis cocktail and loved it. Okay, hear me out and listen to the entire review:…read more TL;DR VERY EXPENSIVE We came here for our anniversary because reviews were wonderful and the menu looked very European i.e. smaller plates with big flavors and delicious cocktails. Our order, pre-meditated was for oysters, octopus, and the 'plateau du marche' aka cheese and meat plate. All sounds good, right? The oysters were WAY too small for $21 (6 in total), the octopus was cut up into small pieces equaling about 1/2 a tentacle but they filled the plate with a few pieces of sausage and potatoes to make it look like the plate was full. It was not. Plus the sauce it comes with was way too acidic. The cheese an meat plate costing $26 has only a few slices of meat, 4 slices of old crusty bread, a few crumbles of cubed cheese, and very very very small pitted olives. Honestly, it was embarrassing. We had to end up ordering their happy hour breads which were fine but after dropping a pretty penny we shouldn't have to order MORE food... As far as the drinks go, I just don't understand the justification in charging $16 for a N/A drink... I ended up sending it back because after one sip on my part and another on my bartender husband's part we both agreed that it was repulsive. And I never send drinks back. Service, lovely and attentive Atmosphere 100% inviting and the view of the fountain made it all magical Drinks WAY too expensive Food WAY too small and incredibly overpriced Flavors - fine but definitely not worth the price tag All in all we went for a few cocktails and something to munch on and left with a $200 bill. No leftovers. A great date night spot if you're looking to drop a dime and a half to impress your mate but honestly, I was extremely disappointed. We left hungry, sober, and confused as to where our money went.

Sure, there has been the occasional hiccup here and there, but that's simply the reality of the service industry. What matters is that the overall experience has been consistently excellent, and over time I've come to know and appreciate many members of your team. My most recent visit, however, reminded me exactly why I keep coming back and fully reaffirmed my ongoing state of Barcelona Bliss. I recently made reservations for myself and a friend to celebrate his birthday. Wanting to guarantee a great evening, there was really only one choice: Barcelona. As an added bonus, I had attended UNCORKED and was fortunate enough to win an extra prize along with my free tapas button: a $100 credit toward a bottle of wine. From the moment we walked through the door, the evening was off to a great start. We were greeted by Elliot, my favorite person at Barcelona. I've always found him to be welcoming, attentive, personable, and genuinely funny. In fact, he was one of the original reasons we became regulars. When he first served us, he combined exceptional service with an engaging personality that made every visit feel special. As always, he was on top of everything and even made a point of wishing my friend a happy birthday. I could spend pages describing the food, service, and atmosphere, but I'll spare you my rambling. Suffice it to say, the evening was exceptional. Every member of the team seemed committed to making sure we had a memorable experience. Whether it was the thoughtful suggestion to combine our table with another when our growing collection of tapas and wine began to outgrow the available real estate, the delightful sommelier, a funny and attentive blonde woman whose name I unfortunately can't remember, who guided us to the perfect bottle, or our server, who never missed a beat and seemed to anticipate every need before we could ask, every member of the team contributed to making the evening truly special. The 2024 Gessamí was an inspired recommendation and undoubtedly one of the highlights of the night. Fragrant and beautifully balanced, with notes of jasmine, citrus, and ripe stone fruit, it was vibrant, refreshing, and paired wonderfully with our seemingly endless parade of tapas. The entire experience was lovely, fun, memorable, and genuinely impressive. While I unfortunately can't remember the names of either the sommelier or our server, that is in no way a reflection of their service. If anything, it simply highlights the shortcomings of my memory. Their attentiveness, professionalism, warmth, and contributions to the evening certainly did not go unnoticed and are greatly appreciated. This visit reminded me exactly why Barcelona has become such a favorite destination. Time and again, you deliver the perfect combination of outstanding food, exceptional wine, genuine hospitality, and an atmosphere that somehow feels both exciting and comfortable at the same time. While Barcelona Wine Bar is certainly a great name, in my mind it will always be known as my Barcelona Bliss.

We sat outside, and I actually never even saw the inside of the restaurant, but outside is great if you like people watching and the weather is nice. We had a lot of questions, and our server was super helpful and patient, and even went so far as to mark all the vegan options on the menu for me so that I knew exactly what I could order. The food came and it was fine. Nothing to complain about, but nothing overly remarkable on my end. I definitely think this is an atmosphere-based place. By that I mean the food was fine but it's not something I would crave normally -- or if I did, I could go to the grocery store and make myself a little charcuterie board. But it's a really nice spot if you want to hang out with friends and enjoy some drinks and snacks while catching up. It also would be a good spot for date night.

This place is great for large parties as you can order individually at the counter, and it's seat yourself. As I mentioned, it was my birthday and the employees working really made me feel spacial. They were so sweet the entire time we were there, and they were on top of everything the entire time. They even gave me a free glass of wine!! The food was lovely, and I'd know since we ordered everything off the HH food menu. Even though some of the items I didn't like, I could still tell the quality of the ingredients. The focaccia and polenta fries were my favorites!! They reasons this isn't a perfect five for me is because the HH menu is pretty limited. Also, I've tried to come to Alimentary before, and it just didn't work out. As in the restaurant wasn't available to the public due to a private party. Also, it's quite literally just an hour long and only runs during the week.
