I realized about a week into owning it later, and the first time I dropped it, I needed more of my feet on the ground. After some research and disappointment, realizing lowering my bike would alter performance, and cost a s**t-ton of money, I decided to look into getting my seat shaved down. After a few YouTube videos I decided I was too uncoordinated and lacking supplies to do it myself, so I looked into an upholsterer. Found Grateful threads online, and it was right down the road from me so I decided to give it a shot. I emailed Chris on a weekend and got a response within hours. Monday came around and I took it in to see what he could do. He was honest and told me he wasn't sure he could get the height that I wanted out of it, without sacrificing too much comfort, but I told him I wanted to try anyway. I expected a long wait, but before the end of the week, I got a text saying my seat was ready! I was nervous thinking it was barely going to make a difference, or that it would be crazy uncomfortable. As soon as I sat on my bike I couldn't stop smiling. I gained more than an inch on the ground. If I'm wearing boots, I can flat-foot my bike now and look a little less ridiculous backing out of parking spaces. Chris also was able to use the original seat covering so no one knows my secret. I was expecting my seat to be much more uncomfortable after losing that much foam, but I have been pleasantly surprised. I've gone on several 2-3 hour rides with this seat and I thinks it's actually more comfortable that it used to be. If you're thinking about coming here for comfort, or for functionality, I highly recommend this place.
