Doug doesn't do furniture upholstery, he works on cars, boats and airplanes. I was disappointed as I really liked him and I saw jobs he finished and they were beautiful! read more

Great experience at Knoben's Kustoms Upholstery! Doug was professional and knowledgeable. He helped me pick out the color and leather for my 2010E 550 Mercedes front drivers seat to match the passenger side perfectly. He also installed new seat warmer. Quality work for a good price. I researched and checked around at several places around South Austin, and this is the shop I would recommend . read more

Doug is the man! My hobby is collecting and restoring antique muscle cars. Doug has helped me with my 72 Corvette, my 2003 4Runner (daily driver) and last but not least, my 69 Camaro! His craftsmanship is outstanding! Also, very rare today, he answers his phone on the first or second ring! Fair price and excellent work. The man is an artist. Bo A. read more

Doug is really nice and was really quick to help us out of a tough situation. We ordered a "custom fit" vinyl floor replacement for our 4runner that turned out to be a nightmare. From phone call to bail out to finish was 2 days time. Quick, efficient and reasonably priced. read more

Fabulous Custom job by Doug. Quick turnaround time and professional delivery. Excellent craftsmanship- highly recommended!!!

Don't get your upholstery done anywhere else!!! Doug is a true artist and craftsman at his trade! I was looking to get my 1920's Koken barber chair restored & re-upholstered. With projects like this it can be very overwhelming with so many options and the fear of getting it wrong. but with Doug he did it all right! We maintained in contact throughout the whole process. Doug was extremely patient with me as I debated on hundreds of fabrics and textures and called him with every single idea that came to mind. He allowed me to take the time to figure out exactly how and what I wanted. He told me that this was something very special to me and that I should have it done exactly how I envision it. He made recommendations along the way when I asked. I couldn't have been happier with the end result! Doug finished the piece ahead of schedule, and did an incredible job!! Go local and go with a professional!! Doug's customer service is incredible as he appreciates the art of restoration and customization and knows what that means to his customers. Once the barber chair was complete, I had Doug visit with me to see my fully restored barber chair, and was proud to have him as my first hair cut & shave in my new chair. Thank you so much Doug! I'm proud to have you as a new friend! read more

I needed a seat cover repair for a rip in the bolster of the driver's side seat in a recently purchased 2006 Miata. I was able to remove the OEM cover without further damaging it, but soon realized that my amateur attempt at repair would require more than my wife's sewing machine could handle. I did some research online and found "Doug Knoben's Kustoms Upholstery" listed among the many upholsterers in the south Austin area, and was intrigued by both his credentials and the work displayed on his website. I jotted down his address and threw the seat cover in the trunk of my car, and headed off for work about an hour early in the hope that I could drop it off along the way. It was early afternoon on a Wednesday, and I was also holding out hope that I could have it turned around and available for pick up by the following Saturday. When I arrived, I found Doug to be a personable and down to earth guy, with an easy going, approachable manner. I explained my predicament, and the obstacles I had encountered trying to do the project myself. Before I even had a chance to express my need for a quick turnaround, he offered to do the job while I waited, saying that he thought it would take about an hour. Delighted, I quickly agreed, and decided to push my luck by asking if I might be allowed to watch, to which he graciously accepted. We had an interesting and very enjoyable conversation on a variety of topics during the hour or so that it took to make the repairs, and I could not have been more pleased with the results. His attention to detail, quality, and love of craft were readily apparent, and his efforts yielded a durable and professional looking result. I honestly feel that it is now a better product than what left the factory in Japan, and it fit my seat like a glove. His prices are fair, and probably should be considered a bargain given the quality of his work and experience in the industry. I have seldom been so satisfied with both my interaction and the results of similar encounters with a variety of entrepreneurs, and it is a comfort to know that any future upholstery needs will be well taken care of. Check him out, you will not be disappointed! read more
