I am not a fan of butcher shops but this is quite an eye opener. It had a large selection of game including Pheasants and Rabbit locally sourced but it was the black bacon that I came to check out and I came away with some boiling black bacon (an irish dish) and some nitrite free bacon also. This shop is a treasure trove for carnivores and would please the vegetarians if they could bear to venture in as it has a fine array of deli produce and all made with the finest ingredients. If there is a queue it's worth the wait. I haven't had a Reuben sandwich probably since I left Canada in 2016 (Reuben's are American, but you can get them all over Canada too). Dark rye bread, corned beef, sauerkraut, swiss cheese, dill pickle, and Russian dressing. It was delicious. Pickles aren't a staple on Reuben sandwiches, but I love pickles and was happy with this addition. It adds a nice little tang, along with the dressing. The soup was warm and delicious with a bright tomato flavour. Soup changes daily. Portions were quite large. I just got the soup and sandwich and when I ordered I wondered if it would be enough. It was. My tummy was quite happy after lunch here. I'll be back for sure. Or maybe I'll just order in, because they have free delivery in D1.

We bought some fabulous North Irish Brie style cheese, magnificent local gin and a dozen rhubarb & honey cider at the festival. There were a number of talks through the day as part of the festival and the one that we attended had a cheese-maker (blessed are the cheese-makers) a cider maker (who says he is still trying to perfect apple brandy) and a chef from the Yellow door. We made a point of making the 25 mile journey to try the food in this place today. It's unremarkably located down a nondescript side street. All three of us chose the prawn on wheaten bread and it tasted superb. We were all delighted with our food. I opted for the soup & sandwich and opted for celeriac & parsnip and it was really superb too. Service was also very good but the young chap forgot to bring me a knife & fork. When I went to pay the bill I decided to try some of the takeaway food - I opted for sausage rolls and chocolate eclairs. The sausage rolls and eclairs became supper tonight. They tasted quite good, and were a decent portion size but I'd have preferred had they been better seasoned. The eclairs tasted rotten - really shockingly bad compared to everything else. I'm leaving my review at five star as everything else was so very good but I can't figure how a place that's so good with a great chef can produce something so bad.

Given that we were a large party of sixteen people the service we received was exceptional on Saturday 12/08/2017. We pre-booked for an evening meal and opted for a set menu of two courses with a glass of either Prosecco, red or white wine. I had a refreshing glass of Pinot Grigio, a scrumptious bruschetta starter and a delicious spicy veggie burger with chunky chips. Superb quality, tasty food, an excellent menu with something for everyone and great value at €25 per head. The restaurant itself is relaxed, bright and spacious and I can't fault a single element of our evening there - a fantastic experience.
