Knowing we had an active leak causing damage he justified the quote with scare tactics. We continued our search and by the grace of God found Nick who was able to come out the same day. He was clear in what he would do to correct the problem once and for all. He was extremely knowledgeable about old homes and guaranteed his work. The quote was fair. No scare tactics. Thinking it wouldn't be anything too crazy, I looked online for a company with good reviews and found Cheddar's. The online appointment booking was very convenient, and I was able to book an appointment for first thing Monday morning. Nick was communicative prior to the appointment and Joe arrived promptly at the appointment time. Cheddar's was able to diagnose that it was a much larger problem than a small basement leak, involving needing part of the original stack replaced. Nick patiently walked me through what he thought the issue was, recommended a company to come in to reveal access to the pipes and dry out the leak area. The whole process was a pretty big deal, especially since it's the first time I had to deal with something like this. Nick was so transparent, patient in explaining everything, committed to helping me fix everything quickly, communicated between multiple parties, and just was so empathetic to the problem and disruption it caused, that he even ended up talking me off the ledge multiple times. This was way above and beyond in regards to customer service. After everything was able to be accessed Nick, Joe and team efficiently worked, in one day, to update everything that needed done, walked me through everything they did at the end and demonstrated there were no leaks. I'm just so thankful they were the company I called because they were able to confidently handle all the issues while truly understanding the plight of the homeowner. Here are summaries:…read more Appointment #1: The plumbers removed an old utility sink and installed a new utility sink in my laundry room, removed a 1970s-style wet bar in my living room and capped its pipes, and snaked a gutter pipe outside. Afterward, my new sink and pipes worked great. Appointment #2: The plumber used a camera to determine why my gutter drain pipes were not draining properly. He determined that a dry well/pit in my yard was full and needed to be replaced. Appointment #3: A different company had installed a new washer and dryer in my laundry room, and they caused a gas leak and did not level the washer and dryer. Petrack Plumbing arrived at my house in less than one hour. The plumbers reassembled my gas pipe, and they leveled my washer and dryer. Then they charged me $0! Appointment #4: Petrack Plumbing flushed the pipes from my gutter downspouts to my dry well/pit (*different* downspouts, pipes, and dry well than months earlier). They said that my gutters and downspouts are probably clogged and that my dry well might be full as well, but my dry well does not need to be replaced because it can overflow down the hillside. Then Petrack Plumbing replaced a leaking copper pipe in my basement. The pipe had a pinhole, so the plumber replaced that section of pipe with new copper pipe. They said that the other copper pipes in my house are the thicker-wall Type L pipe, so they should last for more decades. Appointment #5: My hot water heater and expansion tank were about a decade old and probably nearing the end of their lifespan, so I hired Petrack Plumbing to install a new water heater and expansion tank. Two plumbers arrived 1.5 hours early, but they did call in advance for our consent. They spent 2.5 hours doing the installation. At the end, they explained to my husband and me what the different parts do. The plumbers had noticed that the old expansion tank and pipes were connected to the hot water rather than the cold water, so they installed the new tank and pipes in the correct location. This extra work cost a little extra money, but the final price was still a couple hundred dollars less than another company's estimate.

When the appointment day came, no one said what time they were coming, no one answered the phone during business hours, home warranty could not get in contact with anyone, and when I had to switch the provider, they finally called at 5:00 and said no one answered the phone because "we're too busy" and he would be there in 30 minutes. By this time, the provider was already switched and nothing could be done. Would not recommend anything done by this company because they're probably way too busy to even answer the phone at the office. Stay far away. This is not a company looking for new customers.

He was able to fit us into his schedule the same day he came out to evaluate the damage, and quickly and efficiently fixed the problem. The second time we called him was when we were experiencing pooling water in our basement. He came and successfully snaked the sewer when others hadn't been able to in the past, which resolved the pooling water. He also removed our basement toilet and sink that had been partially causing the backups. He's great to work with but is a little challenging to schedule, since he is sometimes unable to give firm dates for when he'll return to do work. For our second repair he came out to assess damage on a Friday then said he could come back Monday or Tuesday, and showed up Tuesday. So, he's definitely reliable, but maybe not the best choice if you need work completed immediately and at a specific time. And he definitely is pretty pricy. However, we'll likely continue to use him for all our non-urgent plumbing needs since he gets the job done.

Next day machine was coming between 7 am and 7 pm. They showed up at 9 am to help. We have used them many times at my mothers and mother in law's house which are both from the early 1900's. Any problem they have run across (and there were many), they were able to handle easily. I've used this company since the owner was doing calls. They even saved us over 7,000 dollars by running the second sewage line through the basement rather than under the house. They are professional, friendly, and always clean up after themselves. When they say they are going to show, they always make it in the window given. I've even had them remove an old gas line from a chandelier so we could put up a new one (he had to find the ancient parts to use), which he did so promptly and finished the same day.
