Requested service on a Sunday to clear clogged drain. Was told had the wrong snake motor and needed to come back Monday but there would be no charge since he didn't fix it. Came back Monday and cleared the clog but didn't clean up before they left. Was charged for both visits. When told the previous tech said the first visit was free I was told the dispatcher would fix it. Charged me the weekend rate instead of the weekday rate and wouldn't let me use the coupon posted on their website. Told I could use it "next time". There won't be a next time for me nor the friend that referred me to them. read more

A technician installed an outdoor frost free hose bibb on my house two to three years ago. At the time he told me he was leaving the company and planned to move. The cost of his work had me joking about paying for a chunk of his relocation costs! Soon afterward, the bibb leaked and had to be adjusted. The next spring it had to be worked on again. And this spring, it had to be replaced due to not working at all. The replacement cost was $274 and, as before, the bill was not itemized. The first installation was somewhere around $350 and was done by one technician. This one was completed by two men two to three years later and cost less. It's confusing and frustrating, but I'm retired and don't have the energy to fight with them. My only consolation is that I'm having a new HVAC system installed next week and didn't consider Gerard Plumbing for even a second. Jack F read more

I found that the shower/bathtub in main bathroom and master bedroom of my home was not working when my niece was visiting at the beginning of this month. Gerard plumbing review for yelp The plumber that came out to the house was absolutely great. He did a great job, was personable & respectful. The wait time to get someone in to do it was a lot less than other plumbers for a non emergency service. The guy I spoke to on the phone over the weekend was also great. However, they quoted me one price over the phone over the weekend, when someone called on Monday to schedule the service she said "oh, he gave you a nice discount for that" then when the plumber came onsite he charged my mother $100 more than the highest end of the quote. Originally, I asked to install a valve & a dishwasher. Turns out the valve was already there, but it did end up needing replaced. So they charged $100 more for less than 2 hours of work and a easier job that originally quoted. They also took down part of my basement ceiling to see how the dishwasher was draining, that I now have to replace, so it is going to cost even more money to repair that now as well. read more

BEWARE OF GERARD....GET AN ITEMIZED BILL...DON'T USE THEM... GET THE PRICE UP FRONT BEFORE USING THEM.... Gerard came to perform 3 services: replace bathroom faucet with a faucet I'd purchased; replace shower faucet/handle with one I'd purchased; repair leaky toilet: 2 plumbers arrived around 11 am and finished at 11:45am. It was a very quick and easy job for them. The plumber replaced my bathroom sink faucet with one that he had in his van, not the one I'd purchased? (The leaky toilet still leaked after they left.) I was given a bill, on the spot, that was NOT itemized, for $750.00. Hmmm. I wrote the better BBB and Gerard continued to state that the services rendered were valued at a $750 non-itemized bill. I called several other plumbing companies, and no other company would've charged or done what Gerard did. I paid the fair and reasonable amount of $250, ($95/hour and $155 for their faucet, total of $250.) I will never use them again. There are so many other plumbing companies out there who are honest, with integrity and just good people. $750.00 for 45 minutes of work ???? That's a $500 difference in what is fair and reasonable and taking advantage of a person who happens to be a woman. We had horrific water damage from our first floor powder room that flooded our first floor and then destroyed so much in our finished game room downstairs. We called the only plumber we knew but he was booked the entire day. We called our police department and the officer who responded recommended Gerard and actually called the company for us. A tech named Danny appeared very quickly and got to work right away. He acknowledged that he saw that my husband is an amputee and I'm on a cane. When he needed help, he contacted another tech and between the two of them, they got the water problem under control. Danny wanted to make sure we had water again and he accomplished that. I would surely recommend this company to our friends and we will call them again if any need arises. read more

It would be better to live with a plumbing problem than to call Gerard Plumbing. They don't know what they are doing but they are very good at charging for their services. The first one came to the house made a problem - that I paid for - and they sent the next guy to fix the problem. He did not have the tools to remedy the problem. Very cold out and my furnuce stopped working . I called and they sent a service tech out within the hour. He fixed the problem quickly and gave me advice on furnuce maintenance. I wish I would have gotten the tech's name..he was professional and courteous and only charged me a yearly checkup fee. read more

After having a home humidifier installed, I was appalled when I received the bill showing $480.07 hourly service charge. I will share this bill with anyone who is interested so they do not get involved with unscrupulous businesses. Gerards plumbing and heating ad's are false. They state they dont charge by the hour, only by the job. So not true. Gerard timed how long they were at my residence with their GPS. They advised us they couldnt complete the work and we hired and paid another company to do the job. But we still paid Gerard $500 dollars for his time at our residence. And not to mention we were charged while Gerard stood and watched the other company do the job. Terrible work ethics and customer service. read more

I live in a duplex with shared plumbing (a shared soil stack) and experienced an emergency plumbing issue two weeks ago when I came home and found that our shared sewage had backed up and overflowed into my laundry room and basement. I had been away for 3 days, so it was a multiplied mess by the time I found it. It also happened to be late on a Friday afternoon when I found it. I called 6 plumbers that Friday late afternoon and got responses ranging from no answer to "we can come on Monday" (Monday was 3 days away...3 days of both households using no water and waiting with already overflowed sewage was not an option!). But then my 7th call was to Gerard Plumbing. Because it was now after 5:00 on a Friday, I reached what I believe was an answering service who told me that someone would call me right back. And within five to ten minutes, I did indeed hear back from the owner who said he would have someone there in the morning. Thank goodness! Mind you, that was a Friday night and he was able and willing to come Saturday morning. He arrived Saturday morning, was friendly and knowledgeable, and knew within 2 minutes what and where the problem was, as well as how to solve it. He snaked the main sewer line that ran out of the house, tested the results, and that was that. He offered helpful advice and took the edge off of a very stressful and very messy situation for me. And the rate he charged me was so, so very fair and affordable. Especially for a Saturday, an emergency call, and for the nature of the mess on my hands. I could easily have been taken advantage of; the problem needed solved and solved immediately. But Gerard was fair and honest and reliable and professional and simply great. I couldn't have been more thankful. And I couldn't give a higher recommendation for them. We took his business card (Erik Gerard) and have already recommended Gerard Plumbing to family members.
