This one-star review has nothing to do with the quality of service or the product they sell. But how would you feel if you walk in a store, OPEN sign lit, and the only person there was a cleaning person who spoke no English and a large dog jumping on you? The door was open, and that Open sign was on. It was a few minutes after 10:00... they open at 10:00. The lights near the front window were on, but no other lights in the store were on except the office in the back. We walked back there, called out into the office... nothing. I love dogs, but is this really appropriate? This was a rather large dog. Some people don't like dogs and some are even afraid. So a large dog running at you, licking your hands, is not right! I called when I got back home, and the person who answered said the owner had probably stepped out to get something to eat. I would suggest that the owner arrive BEFORE unlocking the front door, with enough time to go and get something to eat. That store was basically unattended and open while this owner left the premises. I won't go back. read more

I really value customer reviews when I'm researching an expensive purchase, so thought I'd write one myself. I had an absolutely wonderful experience buying a bed from Sleep Etc in Stamford. My husband and I did a substantial amount of research before buying a new mattress, including buying a subscription to Consumer Reports and going to several mattress stores (including Duxiana in Greenwich) to test beds ourselves. We were turned off during most of our visits due to the sleazy sales people we came across. That did not happen at all at Sleep Etc. We worked with Paul, the manager of the store in Stamford, and he was wonderful. Not pushy at all, just very helpful and informative about the various benefits of each type of mattress. A complete 180 from the people you deal with at stores like Sleepy's. Now to the mattress itself. We bought 2 twin XL terra brand pillow top mattresses (i don't recall the exact model name). The beds were extremely comfortable and soft, exactly what I thought that I liked. Unfortunately, when I woke up in the morning, my back would be sore because the mattress wasn't very supportive. That said, I had not been shopping for a firm mattress - I asked for a soft one. So I was looking for the wrong product for myself. I really wish it didn't bother my back, because it was the most comfortable mattress I've ever owned! Sleep Etc has an awesome return policy - full store credit if returned within 90 days, no questions asked, provided there's no damage to the mattress. I fully expected there to be some sort of catch when we actually tried to return the mattress, but it wasn't a problem at all. Paul apologized that the mattress wasn't to our liking, and helped us find a mattress that was better suited for our needs. We ended up buying a floor model king size Englander (again, can't remember the exact model name) for slightly more than we had paid for the other beds. Because it was a floor model, we got an AMAZING deal. And we've had the bed for over a month, and it's been great. No back pain, very supportive, no complaints at all. We just had to pay the difference in price as well as shipping (shipping was free the first time, but they say if you return it, you need to pay for it the 2nd time - fair enough). I have been dreading shopping for a new Mattress after our last experience 10+ years ago. But yesterday my husband and I ran over to purchase a replacement to our current mattress and were beyond impressed with the quality of the mattresses offered but more importantly the exceptional customer service that Anthony provided. Wow, if you are in the market for a bed or sleep accessories and you don't go to sleep etc. you are doing yourself a huge disservice. The team at Sleep Etc are as professional and knowledgable as they come. You can tell that they know their stuff just by asking some simple questions. They love what they do and they are great at it too. The experience from start to finish was first class and they really went above and beyond to make sure that we got a great bed for our needs. I CANNOT speak more highly of the customer service you get at Sleep Etc. Jeff Klein, the owner of this family owned business, could not have been more accommodating to me when purchasing a bed. Walking into his showroom is a better experience than the bed chain stores out there.. His showroom presents the products in a better , more upscale way. Don't be deceived by the tiny strip of shops it is located in. He has great stuff! I was looking to buy the same bed that I bought earlier in the Spring. He looked up my order from a bed purchased 3 months ago for my son and gave me the same great price that was offered 3 months ago, even though it was currently $200 more. He went the extra mile every step of the way. After the purchase, he received an SOS call late in the afternoon from NYC when we were trying to assemble the frame... 3 blondes, need I say more?!!! Only kidding! But, he was so very helpful and talked us through the frame set up and we were able to get the bed put together. He was so patient and kind to us. My husband and I stopped in to the "sleep etc." in Stamford on High Ridge Road on Saturday. We were looking for pillows and walked out with a new mattress! Brian, the store manager, was great. He spent a lot of time with us and worked within our budget. He was honest and straight forward. If something happens to your mattress within your warranty period, you call them directly...not an 800#! We've been married for 35 years and have bought several mattresses. Okay, so two years ago I decided I needed a mattress. My husband is a lot heavier than I and I was tired rolling into him in the middle of the night. I couldn't sleep more than an hour or two with out waking up. So I began my search. I never realized how hard it was to buy a good bed. I started looking locally and was so turned off at the high pressure antics of the sales people. I then looked online and searched reviews and it just made my head hurt. I finally found a few forums and saw a few posts from Jeff Klein offering to help regardless if I was buying anything or not. I emailed Jeff and we began speaking. It appeared he specialized in really expensive Swedish Beds that I could not afford unfortunately. He had his General Manager Anthony get involved as well. Both of them were phenomenal to talk to and suggested I try a few mattresses easily found in N.Y. I did and I was already to buy when my husband decided he wanted to try these Swedish Beds first. So we took the trip up to CT and met Anthony. We absolutely loved the Swedish Beds, but our budget couldn't handle a 12K bed. However their store had a ton of different mattress brands and Anthony showed us an all natural mattress by Terra Bed. I would be fibbing if I said it was just as comfortable as the Carpe Diem, however it was super comfy. Even my husband liked it and he usually only likes hard beds. We purchased the Terra Bed that day and had it delivered a week later. The delivery guys were just as sociable as Anthony and Jeff. I must say that the whole experience was wonderful. I since then purchased two more mattress sets from Sleep Etc. and each time the service has been wonderful. So here I am two years later still loving the Terra Bed I purchased! I am not one to wright reviews, but this has made such a huge difference in my life that I felt like I needed to spread the good word about Sleep Etc.! read more

My wife and I purchased a king size Carpe Diem Harmano bed from Sleep Etc. back in September 2011. The owner Jeff Klein and Anthony Montero are two of the best guys in the business. Their honesty and vast knowledge of mattresses is clearly evident, and their level of service is truly second to none. My wife and I flew up from Dallas/Ft. Worth to see and feel the Carpe Diem beds for ourselves. What an experience! These beds are truly remarkable. You must experience the Carpe Diem difference. For the past nine months, I had been experiencing moderate to severe lower back pain that was caused by my old worn out mattress. I really wanted a mattress that not only gave me proper spinal support, but was also built to last. Our new Carpe Diem mattress has eliminated my lower back pain. I now sleep through the night and wake up feeling very well rested. It's by far the most comfortable bed I have ever slept on! Well I had spent my sleeping life on the main stream line of mattresses. I think I'd always had one of the 3 S's and just never really felt like I was getting all that could be gotten from spending 7 or 8 hours in bed each night. I won't claim any real pain, or terribly restless nights, though neither could I ever claim feeling great about getting into and out of bed each night and morning. A couple of years back my brother's girlfriend bought a Carpe Diem from Jeff Klein at Sleep Etc. and she couldn't speak highly enough of the store or the mattress. About a year later it was my brother's turn- he went to Jeff and also bought a Carpe Diem...same experience. Incredibly helpful man, very fair pricing and, of course, a wonderful new bed. Well I was able to hold off for another year or so. Over that year I came to realize more an more what a lack of comfort I had when falling asleep each night. Not that my old mattress was overly UNcomfortable...just not all that, simply put, comfortable. I could have dealt with that through sheer willpower but the part of my sleep experience that was really intolerable was the feeling of a lingering utter exhaustion each morning...even after a long night's rest- I just couldn't hit that snooze button fast enough. I finally popped into Sleep Etc. a couple of months ago to meet Jeff for myself and see if he could help me out. The day I drove over Jeff was out of town so I got to meet Anthony Montero. He spent a good deal of time with me that afternoon, walking me around to, and explaining the differences of, a variety of mattresses. I left that day wanting very much to purchase a new Carpe Diem but trying to justify the price. I spoke with Anthony a couple of more times over the next week, just to ask a few new questions that came up. He was super helpful, never pushy and in the end even worked with me on the price a bit. I really do think that this was one of the smartest and most important purchases that I've made in my life. Not only is my bed outrageously comfortable but the level of rest I'm getting is exceptional...truly! For the first few weeks I couldn't wait to get into bed each night and I woke rested and refreshed each day- sounds like a cheesy commercial, I know, but it's so true. Over the past couple of weeks, however, the bigger difference has shown itself...and this one is pretty surprising. I now wake up well before my alarm goes off each morning (something that I've never in my life done) acutely aware of my body informing me that it's gotten the rest that it needs and that I can now get up. This is really shocking to me...my mornings are completely different than they've ever been. I still try to sleep until the alarm goes off, thinking that I need it, but I really just don't. Furthermore, my energy throughout each day is noticeably higher. It's all pretty amazing, these things I'd heard and sorta dismissed as marketing claims are showing themselves to be true...so that's that. I couldn't have asked for a better shopping experience, I couldn't ask for a more comfortable mattress and I really can't imagine more wonderful carryover results. Thanks so much Anthony! read more
