Gluten free downtown Montreal sounds like music to my ears! The peach pop tart was superb! Crispy and flaky and decadent. I can tell that the chef (Katie) uses quality ingredients and low amounts of sugar. However the low sugar content makes the berry desserts a little too tart for my liking. The non berry pop tart was amazing though, I believe it was a peach/pear combo? I also tried a cocoa oat cookie but found it to be missing something, perhaps due to the low sugar again, maybe some spice would be nice? Chipotle? Cinnamon? This cozy little shop near the Atwater market offers a variety of baked goods, coffee, light lunches and brunches on the weekends too. The menu is all gluten free! The shop is operated by the owner so the wait for my order seemed a little long and that is the only reason for the four instead of five stars. My iced coffee with almond milk was made on order, and with the friendliest of service. The little shop is just plain cute! Oversized regal sofa by the window, a few tables and chairs, soft colours on the wall, add to the coziness of the space. I'll definitely return for some of food; daily specials are written out on a chalkboard and I can assure you that the place smelled delicious! read more

Adorable little coffee shop with yummy bake goods! I showed up with a few minutes left until closing time and the employee was so friendly and happy to serve mhad the cranberry banana bread and was not disappointed. Update: After the second time showing up business hours are not as advertised and I was left standing outside an empty shop on a Saturday! I'm very disappointed since I come from far and have a gluten intolerance so options are restricted. read more

Cute and small coffee shop on Notre Dame. I had the cashew milk latte and it was far from what I was expecting. Maybe cashew milk is not the best for lattes? Perhaps try something different.The service overall was good. read more

I had the avocado toast, blackberry and apple square and the like cake. So. Freakin'. Delicious! The toast was crispy and had plenty of avocado stacked up high, the square reminded me of grandma's baking treats and the cake was simply bursting with flavor! This bakery is on a new level of awesomeness, all while checking the gluten free, dairy free AND refined sugar free boxes (these are no easy checks for a baker). I'm at kleine shoppe every weekend for an iced tea and whatever new creation is on the menu. I absolutely love this place! The owner, Katie, and her team are friendly and welcoming. I've tried just about every dessert and enjoyed them all. The coffee is deliciously smooth. Prices are decent considering everything is gluten free, generously portioned and made from scratch. I was underwhelmed and terribly dissatisfied with my experience at Kleine Shoppe. The reviews are misleading. I am writing a realistic comment based on my personal and underwhelming experience to hopefully help someone from making the same mistake. I placed an order for baked goods at Kleine Shoppe which had a premium price point of $60. I initially found this incredibly expensive - I am very much aware of what it takes to run a business as well as, the costs that are incurred. But this price point is unexplainable. However, optimistically I was willing to give the place a shot assuming there may be a reason for such a high price point for cookies, pop tart and tiny brownies (my hope was that the goods were of quality). Knowing what I know now, I would have not even paid $5 for my order. I would like to begin with addressing packaging which was a pizza box. I am picking up baked goods in a small pizza box? I was dumb founded at this point. But then, I kept an open mind hoping there would be a quality baked good inside the pizza box to justify the price point. I opened the box to find a lack of presentation - they didn't even take into account how the pizza box smashed the dessert. So I am looking at dessert which is already a mess due to the height of the dessert was impacted by the lack of height in a pizza box. Also, the dessert lacked presentation. There is no eye for detail - I was under the impression they were decorated by someone under the age of 10. I am by no means trying to insult the bakers but simply providing advice as there is definitive room for improvement. If you want to sell baked goods at 60$ please take some type of baking/culinary course as it is known that people eat something with their eyes before they eat with their mouth. Presentation is IMPORTANT. Now onto the taste, So lets just say that I have a sweet tooth and enjoy deserts but these were absolutely tasteless and not good. They could not be eaten and I wasn't sure if I got a bad batch or if this was a one off situation and when I messaged the owner to let her know and she confirmed my batch was perfectly fine. So I am here to say ..... its not normal to pay so much money for desert which tastes like cardboard. The brownies were terribly dry. The oat good was melted in the box. I had to throw them in the garbage as none of my guests could eat them. So here is a story of a dissatisfied client who politely expressed these concerns privately to the owner prior to writing a public review and they told me "sorry it wasn't to your liking and take care :)". And this was truly the cherry on top, to express how I would not recommend this place to anyone. Save your money, read my review and go spend your hard earned dollars elsewhere .. where you could actually enjoy the desert! read more

Delicious yummies and coffee. Great ambience and lovely aesthetics. Definitely a nice place whether you are on the go or want to just sit down and talk to someone with a nice cuppa. This is a cute, corner coffee shop that is a must to try. It is my favorite spot to come to when I am in town! I frequent for the avocado toast and the cashew cheesecake (but usually end up trying all the treats). The owner has done an amazing job of making delicious, gluten free treats!
