Finally, after two weeks' worth of several back n' fourth calls and rescheduling appointments, Shane from Chet's finally made it out to my house. Showed up without the drywall guy Alex though (who said he didn't have the appt. on his schedule) so I called the office and was told Alex would come out the next day. He did show, after I called the office AGAIN, and was over 30 min. late. That was on Nov 13. Since then, the KCHRP rep I'm working with and I have been GHOSTED and we never received any estimates for the work that would be done. All of that time spent for NOTHING.

It was also agreed that Gutter Seattle would add a splash block for the downspout. I made it clear to them that because I am managing the property remotely, I wanted many close up photos since I cannot personally inspect the finished work, and Genika assured me that she would "instruct the crew to take an extra-thorough set of photos". However, once the work was complete, the photos and videos I was sent were all taken from about ten feet away. None of them allowed me to see the finished work in detail and none were taken from above showing the inside of the gutter. When I asked for better photos and also whether a splash block had been installed as agreed upon, I received a text from Paolo informing me "Unfortunately, we're not able to continue returning on a weekly basis solely to take more pictures". He went on to add (in his reply that I suspect entirely written using AI) : "This creates scheduling challenges for our crew and affects our ongoing projects". They also indicated they installed the splash block but provided no evidence they did so. When I subsequently asked my property manager to stop by and look at the work, photos taken by him showed that the splash block had NOT been installed as promised. I reached out to Gutter Seattle TWICE to say that the splash block that was agreed upon had not been installed, and both times my emails were completely ignored. If this is how they treat a relatively minor oversight on their part (a twenty dollar splash block that could be installed in five minutes, but which would cost me, being out of state, much more to hire a handyman to do separately), I can only imagine what will happen if I were to contact them about a real problem concerning the gutters themselves, which are supposely guaranteed by Gutter Seattle for eight years. 3/5 stars (for the gutter installation itself), 1/5 stars (for the customer service)

The crew themselves was flexible with the parking situation (thank you!) and quick with their work, and cleaned up well (I've been surprised I haven't found any nails in the grass in the month since they left). But really the thing that inspired this review is some water was getting behind a fascia board during the recent heavy rains so I took a video and asked them if they could help with that -- they had someone out a couple days later who inspected the situation, determines the roof was missing something that's supposed to stop that, and replaced it the next day. It's still not clear to me if that was actually in the scope of their work but clearly they care about making sure gutters are behaving as expected and if the roof isn't doing its job, then the gutters can't either. I don't get the sense it was an expensive part and I'm sure if it was extensive work they'd either need to refer out or get a change form, but the simplicity of the interaction is something I really appreciate. We have so many things going on in life that it's really nice just to delegate problems and have them taken care of easily and thoughtfully. Keep up the good work team.

Only issue might be crew, only crew lead spoke fluent English. *** Scheduling - provided tentative date 3 weeks out, confirmed with 1 week & kept that date. *** Work Site set up - Crew arrived at 8 am, placed tarps at all areas that might be affected by debris & placed plywood sheets against & over areas that might be impacted. *** Work Site Clean up - removed debris in all areas. No issues. *** Workmanship/detail - I'm sure they worked hard, but their attention to detail could be better. 4 areas of concern. 1)accurate nailing of new plywood, 2)proper anchoring of electrical mast, 3)caution during debris removal on roof, 4)level placement of shingles in one vertical area. Description of the work issues: Replaced over 30 sheets of plywood. Used stapler to tack plywood, then nails. Many staples missed rafters & were visible under eaves. Many more visible in the attic which I did crawl through to check. Some nails missed. visible in the attic. While removing the old roof, they used blower to clear/clean the decking. Ended up blowing debris in the range hood exhaust vent, causing debris to get into over-the-range microwave. Front of the house is a vertical patch of roof, that was shingled crooked/slanted. Neighbor, wife, myself all agreed. The crew lead did not think it was. We physically measured & the span was clearly off. He made an adjustment & we accepted it. The electrical mast has two anchor lines to support if against the wire drop pull. Those are removed during re-roofing. They reconnected, saying it was now anchored properly into the rafters. But it wasn't at all. I was lucky enough to cut a hole into our garage ceiling sheetrock and clearly saw they missed the rafters completely. *** Problem solving, trouble-shooting, Quality assurance - After job was done & crew gone, I walked the perimeter, went in the attic and noticed some issues and my wife started the microwave fan. I emailed Bates & they were quick to send their PM out & I was able to point out things. He was able to explain some things to my satisfaction & scheduled the crew to come out & address everything. I called the inspector & he agreed to approve. *** Incidentals - I arranged to have some of the old cement roof salvaged with a company in Auburn. Bates was agreeable to cooperate & worked to have a bunch of the old shingles sent down a chute to be collected. When they returned to address the work issues, they left me with some bundles of shingles so I could re-roof my small back shed. The even offered to roof it. But I declined. (Project for my son & I) They also gave us a gift card for dinner at a nice local restaurant for the trouble. Things I did not think of up front but wish I did. Replaced 30+ sheets of plywood. I would have liked to have kept a good many pieces that they discarded. Also some of the new plywood that they cut & then discarded the remnants, I would also have kept. I did on the 3rd day, ask to keep the newest remnants & I dug some out from the trailer dump bed. But I didn't think of it in the prior days. They also kept & piled the old lead vent pipe flashing. It was quite a pile & made sense when they said they'd take it to the recycle center and maybe get $60 for it. Wish I'd have thought of that, I would have made my son do it for the experience and sense of value & gas money for him to earn. Conclusion - I like Bates. The process, overall communication was very good. They identified & corrected unknown roof issues due to rot & prior installation shortcomings. Thus all the new plywood & some facia board. Room to improve attention to details. New roof looks good.
