Ever wonder how you make you own perfume or what it takes? I had no idea how it all came together. Best friend brought me here & we got to make our own perfume to our own liking. Jennifer was a delight to work with. You pick the scents and notes you like & she creates by your liking your own perfume & you name it. Such an awesome experience!! I brought my best friend here for her birthday and we both totally loved it. You can make an appt on the yelp page which makes things easy! It's a great atmosphere to be creative and you learn a lot about what you like in terms of individual scents. It was so cool! The process doesn't take long depending on how many people you have, but enjoy every minute of it. Jennifer explains the process well and how the scents compliment each other, etc. Don't try to come up with a name before you create your scent, trust me, the scent will be the inspiration. We got the 3 oz spray which is so worth the cost because you're paying for the whole experience. I had come across this over a year ago and had wanted to try the make your custom perfume option.... after a while I forgot about it but then saw it in my bookmarks and I finally went today. Caitlin helped me with my scent and it is insane how perfectly it turned out. Daughter and I stumbled across this cute little perfume shop while shopping on Magnolia Blvd one weekend. It is in premises at the back of a funky gift shop. There are a number of pre blended selections or you can choose to have your own perfume blended personally. Daughter loved 3 of the scents and didn't know which one to get...after a lot of testing and sniffing she plumped for the White Tea Ginger, which smells divine. I was lucky enough to be be surprised on my birthday with a gift bag full of the Beach House products by my daughter a few weeks later. You can buy the body lotion, perfume roll, candle etc to match which is a great idea. I hate layering different smells on with body lotions, shampoo, sunscreen etc. I wish KleanSpa would make a 50 SPF lotion so I could use it as sunscreen on my skin as well as a moisturiser. I have dry skin and the moisturiser is fantastic, melts into your skin quickly and doesn't leave a greasy finish but it keeps dry skin at bay really well. Such a good product. A matching shampoo and conditioner would be great too. I think we may book in for a personal blending session at some point in the future, next birthday or Christmas. I love the idea of using it as a special occasion present such as birthday, baby shower, thank you to bridesmaids, romantic date, etc. read more

This review is long overdue! I discovered KleanSpa in my neighborhood about a year ago while meandering through Magnolia Park. I fell in love with the first scent I tried (Zingy Stardust, citrusy and feminine) and bought a small bottle of lotion. Since then, I've purchased and reordered KleanSpa's lotions, scent mists, soap... I LOVE the body butter. My current favorite is Satsuma Glow. I've also bought the travel sized products for friends as gifts, and they also love the fragrances. Jennifer (the owner/"scent mistress") is very nice and everyone I've interacted with in the shop has been kind and helpful. This is one of those hidden gem places, it's in the back of a little art store, in case you have a hard time finding it. Anyway, went there to get some Valentines gifts and I really love how they mix things right there and use finest natural ingredients... it feels very earthy and artsy and fun. I was looking for a place locally where I could pick up some scented oils for intention setting at the end of my group classes and KleanSpa popped up. I immediately ran over and Jennifer and Layla were there to help me with my requests. This store is inside the Mindfulnest store. Omg YES! I was about to go buy my usual perfume again but wanted to see if there was a place that made them. Came here and had an awesome time smelling different scents and creating my own blends with Jennifer. The body butter is also incredibly soft and moisturizing. It has a similar feeling to La Mer lotion (without the bad for you ingredients.) Single Scents: "Wood" is the best man scent ever - seriously. Yum! "Rose" Lovely rose of course. "Very Vanilla" Super warm vanilla. Pre-Made Scents: "Vanilla Sandalwood" and "Cinnamon Kiss" are incredible alone but DIVINE together. "Sweet Smoke" is a soft "Lavender Cream" Sweet and soft (instead of sharp like most lavenders.) "French Kiss" - A custom blend Jennifer makes that really does have a Parisian needs to be set among classic famous perfumes I got so many INCREDIBLE custom blends (which you can name by the way!) One of my best friends bought me a gift certificate to design a custom scent for my birthday. We scheduled an appointment late morning on Sunday. Unfortunately traffic was not in our favor and the store owner was running a little late as well as Jennifer who we had the appointment with. Luckily my friend and I were in no rush and we had a delicious breakfast next door to MindfulNest. The store is adorable and we looked around while Jennifer got ready for us. She's a joy and I loved her "Scentual Mistress" title. Jennifer took her time with me as I am a very indecisive person in general and helped me blend the perfect scent. She gave me suggestions and steered me in the right direction. My friend was a little more decisive than me. Visited Klean Spa for the first time this weekend as a post valentines surprise date I planned for my boyfriend and I. We had visited the store in the past but never tried to make our own scents. Layla was our scent minion and boy was she educated on her various scents and mixtures! We showed up a bit early and that was no problem at all, Layla had us get started right then and there. She took down our favorite scents and began pulling various oils that would make for a great combination. She was so fun to work with and gave us some history on perfume making. This was such a great surprise for my boyfriend, and he was immediately excited. He let Layla know exactly what he likes and she pulled so many options for him. As soon as his scent was completed, he kept sniffing his wrist - he could not get enough of it! That's how I knew this surprise date was a total hit! 20 minutes ago, I just walked out of MindfulNest in Main St. Santa Monica with a bag of KleanSpa products worth $60+. It's pricey, much more than I have grown used to pay for beauty products but I have made the switch from supermarket shelves products that contain nothing but empty promises to products with natural ingredients that really get the job done. My mother-in-law gave me the polish, butter, syrup and lotion set (in German Chocolate Cake and Karma L-Krunch yum!) for my recent birthday as I kept procrastinating to go natural with the products I use. I was floored by the difference of results after I used KleanSpa, I still am. My husband noticed, too! The polish as easily replaces in-shower lotion and if I had to run and skip the lotion, my skin is still supple! Jennifer is also amazing! She made sure you are well taken care of. She even granted my request to put the lotion in a tub just like my mother-in-law likes it so you can scoop the very last bit left easier. So, I went on a trip with a guy, let's just call him 'Handsome Devil' and he presented me with this little yellow bag. Before I could open it, I could detect the not-so-faint, amazingly enticing aroma of what one could consider to be the I'ching of aphrodisiacs. I could not believe the contents of this non-descript package could evoke the deep, dark, carnal feelings I could feel rising in my soul. I had to know what was in there! While he was busy unpacking and organizing his clothes, toiletries and other things men bring on vacation, I stole away to a little windowed corner of the high-rise suite, admiring the tender glow of amber gently bouncing off the reflective glass buildings of downtown. Separating the handles of the bag, I gently pulled out the crumpled tissue paper, which had, apparently, been used to try to subvert the contents of the bag, to no avail. When I finally made it to the contents, I saw this tiny, green votive, a jar of white cream and a bottle of what appeard to be powdered, chocolate milk. What the what? He told me he liked chocolate and... I rubbed on a little of the cream and OMFG! It smelled JUST like chocolate! "Is this stuff edible?" I asked while reading the label. Although the answer is no; in a pinch, I might be tempted! Also, they wrap the products with extreme care. I was able to witness this when I purchased products for my parents. Every item was wrapped in tissue paper- lime green -and secured with a sticker. Very sweet, I must say. *** update*** I just realized that the product contains an ingredient (hazelnut oil) which when consumed by me causes edema and itching, did not cause a reaction when applied topically. Although I fell in love with the product, I will have to give it away because no matter how euphoric the smell, it is not worth risking death. Despite the fact that my body couuld possibly reject one of the three items I received, I still give Klean Spa's products a 4.99 stars :) because nobody's perfect. Keep up the good work!!! read more

I took my bridal party here 2 days ago and we had a blending party as my gift to them. Jennifer and Layla were absolutely amazing. Knowledgable, patient, friendly, great listeners, did I mention patient? One of my bridesmaids blended her perfect scent in 1 shot, another bridesmaid took about 2 tries and was done. My maid of honor took about 3 or 4 tries ..... And then there was me, the bride! I felt so bad for Jennifer but she was more than understanding and patient with me. I wanted the scent to be perfect because it is going to be the scent I wear on my wedding day. After multiple tries she had Layla help me out to try a clean slate. Locally made, world class fragrances. After a splurge at yogaworks, I had to make it out to the KleanSpa mecca and get a sample of their incredible offerings. This is an incredible little shop where you can design your own fragrance or just pop in for some magical and delicious scents like a lavender cream that will leave you smelling like cupcakes or a Gent Scent to keep you man smelling like the proper, dapper gent he is. As an investment, you can even come in and create your own scent with Jennifer. I can't wait to do this myself! AND there is a offer if you check in on yelp, I wish I realized this as I would have charged up my phone before coming in. My youngest daughter gave KleanSpa gift certificates to her sister and me for our birthdays in February. She booked our "Girls Day" appointment and we all went last Saturday. We were the first clients of the day. We took our seats at the "Bar", not sure what to expect. Caitlyn put us at ease immediately, and the fun began! We just loved telling her our likes and dislikes, then having her pull a variety of scents for each of us. Caitlyn was very knowledgeable and attentive. We felt very relaxed and extremely happy with our newly created individual scents! We purchased some other sundries, then browsed the items in the MindfulNest store, purchasing a bracelet as a memory of the wonderful day with my daughters. I work close by to here and I got to say they have the best candles and good customer service they take time helping find the scent your looking for. The candles last for 5-6 burns and have your room smelling good as hell. They also give a peacock feather with the scent you pick, I like leaving it in my car to have it smell like the scent. I have never bought a candle that the scent lasts the whole burn and every time you burn it.
