Capsules own fragrance lines, and a few others they carry.

We left Capsule complete converts. The scents were varied, complex, & intriguing, but it was the attention we got from Taneshia (not sure about the spelling, sorry!) that blew us away. She took the time to share every scent with us, describing the scent lines, influences, and notes. On top of it all, we are not the ideal customers for most perfumeries: one adult out-of-towner and two teen boys. But we are scent curious in general, and have educated ourselves over the last two years because one of the young men is interested in perfumery as a career. Most perfumeries don't pay us much attention. Some pointedly ignore us. So encountering someone who talks with us genuinely is so appreciated. Taneshia went above and beyond. In addition to making us feel like we absolutely belonged there, her help meant we could truly narrow down scents we liked. Capsule sells via their website, too, so you can try out sample scents and avoid costly blind buys. I highly recommend!

Came here at 5pm Saturday and they were closed. I think they need to update their store hours.

It' hard to tell from a thin strip sprayed and other scents in the store...coffee beans really don't help. But I'd spray a bit on my skin and ask the other sales ladies what they thought. The one's I bought I liked and they loved! I bought 3. They were authentic (not fake like a lot of those booths are in downtown fashion district. Look for a metal stamp on the bottom of the bottle next to another stamp. If it doesn't have a metal stamp or engraving in the bottle, it's probably fake. Mostly men in there. Vicky even showed me how to get a bigger discount and asked me if I wanted bottled water. I took two. With all the booths in front of the stores in that area it's hard to find but I did. Parking is a scam...they wave $3 or $5 signs and point you to building parking and then when you get there it's $20! She said the $3-$5 was weekdays. But I felt safer there so I paid the $20. But I really just wanted to compliment Vicky for her patience with me. Give her a raise boss...or at least kudos. Many kudos. Thanks Perfumes LA...I'll be back.

The 2nd time I went there, a male supervisor intervened rudely into our conversation. I didn't make a big deal about it since he was not the one helping me. However during my 3rd visit there. I spoke with an assistant supervisor names Amelia who put to the side the last bottle of fragrance they had left for me. I was driving through the horrible traffic in LA and Amelia somehow had to go home. Unfortunately, the same Hispanic male supervisor made me feel like I was a burden. He must've stopped helping me at least 3 times to go help other people. His excuse was there were short of staff. By the time he called Amelia and located the fragrance she put aside for me, I was over it. Not to mention the fragrance had no plastic on it, which tells me that it was used. Honestly, I went there not because they have the best price, it's merely because I don't have the patience for shipping. Nonetheless, if you are looking for authentic fragrances you can go on Jomashop, or Fragrance net, Maxaroma or Scents Angels. Needless to say I will not be going back!

I love perfume. Somewhere else on my Yelp pages, you will see a review of my favorite French line…read more But, I am always "scenting", on the hunt for something new and different. For that reason, over the past year or two I have been collecting "Ouds", made, ideally, from the rare wood collected in the Orient, quite costly, but conferring an oh-so-sophisticated and mysterious fragrance that is right up my alley. When my daughter suggested I try Le Labo, I remembered that my niece had given me a Verveine (Verbena) candle from Le Labo a few years ago and I love it. There are a couple of Le Labo counters in Nordstroms near me but I wanted to go to one of their bricks-and-mortar shops. Since I love Silverlake, this was the logical choice. Now, I have mentioned previously that I love Silverlake and Echo Park for their urban hipster expensive grunge, very much like a slightly more down-at-the-well-heeled Oakland. Any excuse to dine, grab coffee, ice cream, or sample fragrances at the various stores on Sunset Boulevard in this area is welcome. Two weekends in a row, I went with a group to Le Labo. The first time it was packed and all I could do was spritz a couple of their bespoke scents on my wrists. The second weekend, I wanted to try their Oud. This second time was great because there were fewer customers in the store than there had been on Labor Day weekend, so I got a lot of personal help from the three Labo people there. I came away with a sample of my previous week's fave, Tabac 28 and two wrist-spritz's (Oud and The Noir) and several blotters of Cuir, Myrrh, Cedre and one other I have forgotten. I didn't like anything but the Tabac and will likely order a larger bottle. OK, so, here is the experience, overall. Quality products -- no doubt about it, complex blends (the number after the name tells you how many different scents are in the blend) in a glass bottle with your name on it, if you want. The space is edgy and cool. My dad was a perfumer so I know what a perfume lab is supposed to look like. This was a mini-lab spot and done to look like an OG laboratory (Le Labo, aka, The Laboratory) in Grasse, France. All nice touches. Couches to sit on, bright light through the window pouring in from Sunset Blvd. No complaints about any of these features. Now, for the reality check. The stuff is sky-high in pricing. I have some super refined perfumes from France that don't cost as much as these little bottles. Make sure you are caffeinated and fed before you visit, lest you faint. The service is OK. I am not sure any of the staff know much about perfume, apart from their LL products. No worries. I know a lot. They were attentive, not warm, helpful, not problem-solvers. Like what? The Oud I came for was not available in the sample everyone should get before they part with a few hundred smackers for a full bottle. I settled for it being sprayed on my wrist from the tester bottle. And, I didn't like it later anyway, but still, they should have the small samples! Don't they want to sell this stuff? One last thing. I love this area and this stretch of Sunset, but! It's dirty and littered. How the three upscale, pricey perfume emporia manage to sell expensive goods is a mystery to me, since to get to any of them, one has to bob and weave to miss the garbage. Even NYC isn't this dirty! Be prepared. Come dressed for the rest, so you don't stand out in a bad way and attract the wrong kind of attento, you know what I mean? Wear sturdy shoes as the sidewalk is straight out of the Asbury Park Funhouse and you don't want to fall and shed your expensive scented oils. Don't be unprepared for sticker shock. Make sure you get sprayed and if you ask for paper blotters, see to it they write down the scent on them -- they don't do that. My dad had labeled blotters all over our house when I was growing up, with the name or code and date on them. Blotters hold scent for a long, long time -- get some for any perfume you are interested in before you buy it and wait a week to decide that the dry-down version (base note dominant) is for you, before your plunk down a ton of George's. Otherwise, I love it.
